Both sports use technology to review decisions. Cricket has DRS while football has VAR.

We cricket fans often critsize DRS while footbal fans critisize VAR.

Which system is better?

Is there an umpire’s call in VAR?
Let soccer fans try that and they will happily stick with VAR.

I believe DRS is more refined.

The intial checks have an automatic system where through hawkeye first they check whether ball is pitcing in line along with impact. That is automatic and no time is wasted by checking through visual eye.

Yes when the ball is edging the bat than umpire takes his time.

The VAR system isnt really automatic, and they have to use replays and naked eye to judge many things. Cricket has the advantage of snicko and in the past they had the millitary technology hotspot which is expensive.

For me in comparison, DRS is much better system.

VAR needs to use hawkeye for offside and as footbal is a huge industry maybe millitary system hotspot can be sponsored?

Not really. Umpire call has made the system more refined as they make the onfield umpire also relevent.

Currently we are watching belgium vs morrocco and a goal has been denied to morrocco only because they cant judge whether the player on offside had touched the ball or not and no time was spent. No camera zooms or anything

Plz explain their system, dont watch tennis so dont know.

Im aware they have hawkeye in place

They have hawkeye and a player can request to question any call I believe from the ref or linesperson. Doesn't take long and is usually accepted by players and the game moves on with little disruption

It does not matter if he touches the ball or not. If the ref judges that he enterfering with play then it's enough.

I find it ridiculous that if a team runs out of reviews, the right decisions cannot be made.

Simple.

For that reviews should be reset every 80 overs.

The technology should get wrong decisions right.

No chance if you punish the team for wrong use of techno by running out of reviews.

Simpler

EVERY appeal should be reviewed.

Umpires can warn captains about excessive appealing but that is by the by.

VAR was really silly at first with like half the goals chalked off LOL. It is slowly evolving and that's the key, DRS has been in place for a while now and we already know what to expect from it whilst decisions based on VAR reviews are still being reviewed and improved by the developers, referees and other stakeholders input.
