ECB today announced its Men’s Major Match schedule for 2019 which will include a public ballot for all Specsavers Ashes Test Matches for the first time.

Each host Ashes venue will release tickets via their own public ballot to meet the anticipated high demand for tickets to watch England’s bid to regain the Ashes.

Key highlights include:

England vs Ireland Test Match: England’s summer schedule will include an historic Specsavers Test Match against Ireland at Lord’s – a four-day contest which will build on last year’s successful Royal London ODI series between the two countries and will be their first ever meeting in the game’s longest and most respected format.

Season starts vs Pakistan: Pakistan will be England’s first opponents of the home international season with their tour featuring five Royal London One-Day Internationals and a Vitality IT20 as both countries prepare for the ICC Cricket World Cup which starts on May 30th 2019 with England taking on South Africa.

Royal London and Vitality Blast Finals: The domestic men’s game’s showpiece occasions will move to different dates to avoid clashing with the ICC Cricket World Cup and the Ashes. Lord’s will once again host the Royal London One-Day Cup Final following this summer’s successful final which attracted the ground’s biggest attendance for a domestic final since 2009. Next year’s schedule will also see Vitality Blast Finals Day return to Edgbaston for the eleventh time in the domestic T20 competition’s history.

ECB Chief Executive Officer Tom Harrison said:

“Next summer’s schedule – with an ICC Cricket World Cup and an Ashes Series at its heart is truly a season to savour for cricket fans of all ages, nationalities and cultures. It is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for us to build an even bigger following for all formats of the game.

“There is nothing more important to England cricket fans than an Ashes Series. With the added element of being England’s first Test series in the new World Test Championship, it’s a hugely exciting prospect and we anticipate unprecedented demand for tickets. We would love to see fans from all over the world getting to experience the unique atmosphere of an Ashes Test Match after the ICC Cricket World Cup.

“We fully supported the ICC’s decision to award Full Membership to Cricket Ireland and we expect next summer’s inaugural Test Match at Lord’s against our neighbours to be an historic celebration for all Irish cricket fans.

“It will also provide excellent Ashes preparation for England against an Irish team whose impressive performance against Pakistan earlier this year showed they can compete strongly in this form of the game. “

The ICC Cricket World Cup – Key Dates:

The Oval will host the tournament opener between England and South Africa on 30th May.
World Cup holders Australia begin their title defence against Afghanistan at Bristol in a d/n match on June 1st.
Old Trafford and Edgbaston will stage the two semi-finals on July 9th and 11th respectively with Lord’s hosting the final on 14th July.

Whole series will fall during Ramadan 2019 which can't be helped I suppose.
At least World Cup will be after Ramadan next year :hafeez2

As per the FTP schedule, none of Australia, India, SA, NZ, Sri Lanka, WI are playing any cricket after March or early April 2019. That means they will be going nearly 2 months without any cricket before the World Cup. Sure these teams will probably schedule ODI series among themselves but the series won't be in England.

Pakistan and England will be playing a 5 match ODI series just before the world cup meaning they will be in England for a month before the World Cup. Valuable practice and getting used to the conditions. Good for Pakistan. On a lighter note won't mind getting thrashed 4-1 in England in this ODI series as that will relieve all the pressure from them going into the World Cup. Pakistan generally only does well when they are being discarded. A series win on the other hand would make them favorites and that has never bode well for us. :P

So we are touring England thrice in a row? That's pretty amazing. From the long gap of 2010s to touring almost ever year, pretty good!

Perfect preparation for world cup Pakistan should grab this opportunity hopefully all our players will be fully fit

Good that our team will get some excellent prep for the World Cup.I hope we do well.

Our next test tour to England is scheduled to be in 2020.

5 ODIs in 14 days. That's pretty tight right before the World Cup. Just one day break between the 4th and 5th ODI.

Surely both teams will be rotating players and getting everyone practice.

That's good. Hopefully it can benefit our team. I would love to go to the first ODI as I don't live far from London.

So 15 days of rest between the last ODI Vs England (19th May) and our first World Cup match (June 3rd) also against England. Payers should take it easy so they are injury free in time for the tournament.

Technically It will be a week of rest, as we might have 2 warm-up games

Thank god our 1st game is starting late, End semester exams would be over by then

Pakistan's 1st game is May 31st vs West Indies

We will receive a much needed humiliation before the WC to showcase how pathetic and overrated our team is, and if we manage to somehow win this series it would be due to the fact that the stars and planets have aligned to grace our players and to cover the huge cracks and deficiencies in our team :ishant

The year after that in 2020 we have a three Test series in England, followed by an LOI series in 2021.

1 T20I and 5 ODIs right before the world cup in England. This team really has no excuse if they can't make it to the final 4 in the world cup. Amazing for the team to get crucial match prep in England.

This is great planing to play this series before worldcup hopefully it will help them to gain much need practice before all important worldcup.

I find Pakistan - England series to be the most exciting cricket that we Pakistani fans get to see. Always action packed with quality cricket on display. Happy to see this happening.

Fans of T20 are in for a treat at the Fischer County Ground during the 2019 season as Pakistan visit for a floodlit spectacular on Wednesday, May 1.
Pakistan are one of the most exciting sides in international cricket having won their last 11 T20I series. The most recent of those victories came by a 3-0 margin against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi.

The Pakistan side has a wealth of exciting batting talent including Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Hafeez while slow left armer Imad Wasim and seamer Hasan Ali are quality bowling options.

Ali has recently been bowling alongside Leicestershire CCC overseas star Muhammad Abbas during test series against Australia and New Zealand.

The match will be Pakistan’s only warm-up fixture ahead of the IT20 against England at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

Not gonna bother posting the full article as it's useless to do so and no one even reads the whole thing

Excellent preparation for the WC. Playing a top side and a chance to get use to conditions.

Terrific preparation and its been in the works since last year/early this year so no major surprises. Pak will also be playing SA and AUS heading into the WC so 2018/19 will be top preparation for them.

Regardless of the results, the main aim has to be to get players in form, keep them fit and build the younger guys into more consistent performers (Shadab, Shaheen, Faheem etc).

No excuses not to be prepared for woeld cup when we have these 5 ODIs before it

Can't ask for better preparation for the World Cup. Then again, we played an ODI series in New Zealand before the last World Cup as well but it couldn't help that traumatic performance against West Indies

Amazing decisson, perfoect plan for preparation for the world up! Pak team should get its combination right befor etht tour of Eng. Ideally for ODI it should be 5+1+3+2 combination!! or 5+1+2+3!!

Can't believe it's already been a year.

Summer of 2019 was absolutely amazing!

Really has it been one year already?

Damn, time flies man...
