Eid Mubarak to everyone

Went to a large "chand raat" gathering last night at one of my friends house and on the entrance saw the sign " imported hakoomat-----" I didn't like it, not on Eid party. Never knew he was IK supporter.

Today going to an EId gathering, hope , won't see anything politics there. Its Eid , everyone is friend today.

Blackburn Rovers become first football club to host Eid prayers

Blackburn Rovers has become the first football club in the country to host a mass prayer meeting marking the end of Ramadan.

More than 1,500 people - both men and women - took to the pitch at Ewood Park with their prayer mats to celebrate Eid.

Worshippers arrived at the stadium shortly after 8.30am, with extra plastic sheeting needing to be put in place to accommodate numbers.

Yasir Sufi, Development Manager at Blackburn Rovers FC, said: "We are big believers that we are one town, one club, one community.

"If there's ever an event that we've done that signifies that, I think this definitely is it."

‘Eid Prayers@Ewood Park’ on Monday 2 May was open to all families, with provisions in place for both men and women to pray on the pitch.

Those attending were asked to bring their own prayer mat with them, with prayers led by Sheikh Wasim Kempson.

"The doors of football stadiums are gradually being opened to different types of audiences," he said.

"To the extent that the stadium is not just a place for a pitch for people to play football, but there are local communities, using this place for their own kind of religions activities."

Registered volunteers were on hand to help anyone wishing to make the traditional Fitrana/Sadaqatul Fitr charitable donations.

A traditional milk drink was also provided after the event.

Complimentary bus transport from Corporation Park and Audley Sports Centre was also laid on to help those wanting to attend the event.

The Eid prayers at Ewood come only a few days after Rovers won an EFL Diversity Award for their efforts in providing equal opportunities for young people to experience live football.

The annual Eid in the Park festival will be held at Corporation Park on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 May, when Blackburn Rovers and Blackburn Rovers Community Trust staff will once again be in attendance.

Warwickshire CCC:

Edgbaston Stadium hosted one of the biggest Eid al-Fitr celebrations in the country earlier today as it welcomed around 2,000 visitors for prayers through a partnership with Birmingham’s Green Lane Masjid & Community Centre (GLMCC).

Staged on Edgbaston’s Colts (training) Ground, families from across the country came to Edgbaston to celebrate the end of Ramadan with prayers.

Softball cricket sessions were subsequently delivered by Warwickshire Cricket Board coaches to children on the stadium’s outfield and a lunch event was hosted in the Banqueting Suite.

Stuart Cain, Chief Executive of Edgbaston, said: “GLMCC have been a key supporter of our work in the local community over the last 12 months.

Despite the impact of covid, we were able to work together at short-notice last year to stage prayers for 500 friends of GLMCC.

However, we’ve proven today that without the restrictions and with more planning time that we can quadruple the number of people that we have accommodated.

“We both share ambitions to further develop the annual prayer event, but we want the relationships with our community partners to be constant and to make Edgbaston a hub for the local community that consistently hosts cultural events and celebrations for all to enjoy.”

GLMCC and Edgbaston hosted 500 visitors for Eid al-Adha prayers in July 2021, which was followed by a conference in December in the Edgbaston Banqueting Suite on Islamophobia and Racism.

GLMCC was also one of eight religious institutions in the West Midlands that helped develop Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s Multifaith Charter, which launched in February.

Sajjad Akram of GLMCC said: “A brilliant event organised through collaboration between two great Birmingham organisations – GLMCC and Edgbaston Stadium.

Superbly organised, with all attendees having an enjoyable experience. We’re hoping the event can be even bigger in future.”

Pakistan celebrates Eidul Fitr with religious zeal and fervour
Pakistanis mark Eidul Fitr without coronavirus restrictions after a gap of two years

With no coronavirus restrictions after a gap of two years, Eidul Fitr is being celebrated across the country today with religious zeal and fervour.

Three separate Eids were celebrated in the country — North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkwa, and the rest of Pakistan — as the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee's decision was not unanimously accepted across the country.

The day witnesses traditional food items being prepared at home. Large prayer gatherings were held to mark the auspicious occasion, while special prayers were made for the country's stability and prosperity.

PM's message on occasion
In his message on the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended greetings to the nation as well as Muslim Ummah on Eidul Fitr and urged the countrymen to show compassion and take special care of the people in need while celebrating the festival.

The prime minister said Allah had awarded Muslims with Eidul Fitr after the month of Ramadan.

He said considering Ramadan’s spirit of patience, sacrifice and compassion, it was incumbent upon the followers to be extra cautious about the needs of the poor and needy while celebrating the Eid.

The prime minister said his government was committed to ensuring the country’s deliverance from the load shedding and was making all-out efforts to achieve the objective.

He also directed the authorities concerned to refrain from carrying out power outages for the three days of Eid-ul-Fitr to allow the people to enjoy the occasion.

He said keeping in view the Eid pleasures and the hardships of the inflation-hit people, the government had also decided not to increase the oil price.

The prime minister assured the nation that every moment of his tenure and all of his capabilities would be utilised to bring ease to the people’s lives.

In the coming days, the people would also feel the reduction in their hardships "as an outcome of the government’s efforts".

The prime minister also asked the countrymen to remember the people of Palestine and the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Eid and pray for their liberation from oppression.

He also expressed his good wishes for the people of Afghanistan and prayed for durable peace, progress, and prosperity in the war-torn country.

President's message
Separately, in his message, President Dr Arif Alvi, while greeting the countrymen on Eidul Fitr, said it was a day of giving, blessings, and forgiveness.

The president prayed to Allah to make the day a source of joys and eases.

The president said Eid required the celebrators to share their joys with the poor by fully supporting them to achieve real happiness and exercise the true spirit of the festival.

President Alvi prayed to Allah to inculcate, in our personalities, the characteristics of love for worship, self-control, and passion to sacrifice, which we had been practicing throughout Ramadan.

How Muslims celebrated Eid Al-Fitr across the UK

Millions of Muslims gathered in mosques, parks, community centres and football pitches across the UK to take part in Eid Al-Fitr celebrations on Monday.

The occasion marks the end of Ramadan, the ninth month in the Islamic calendar which sees Muslims fast every day from dawn until dusk.

In England, almost 30,000 worshippers descended on Small Heath Park in Birmingham from 6am to take part in Eid prayers.

British Muslims have been forced to observe Eid Al-Fitr under Covid-19 restrictions for the past two years, placing curbs on the usual festivities including large indoor gatherings.

However, this year’s holiday marks the first since 2019 to take place without any limits on socialising.

Saleem Ahmed, project manager for Eid in the Park, commented: “Eid is a joyous occasion, where Muslims come together to celebrate, spend time with family and worship as a community.

“It is a relief to have such an important celebration return to some normality after such a long time.”

A second event was held at Edgbaston Stadium in the city and saw 2,000 people attend prayers, and later take part in games such as miniature golf, cricket coaching and laser clay pigeon shooting.

Elsewhere in the country, Blackburn Rovers became the first football club in the UK to host Eid celebrations, inviting in 3,000 people to pray on the pitch.

One football fan from Sudan, who recently moved to the UK, said the event made him “feel like a part of the community”.

“Eid for Muslims is something very special, gathering all the relatives together. This time, for us especially, we miss our relatives so much,” said Ahmed Khalifa, 37, who has been living in Blackburn for four months.

“So it was a very big deal for us to have this group of people. So happy to see all these people there.

“The people of Blackburn, they all seem like part of a community, but for me coming new to this city... now I’m feeling like a part of the community.”

The football club shared photographs and video footage from the event on social media. One video, posted to Twitter, showed rows of people gathered on the pitch for prayer.

“Eid Mubarak from everyone at Blackburn Rovers,” it said in a tweet.

Steve Waggot, CEO of Blackburn Rovers, said the event marks a “hugely significant moment for football”, adding that the club had recently taken a number of steps to be more inclusive of Muslims.

“We’re the first club to ever host the Eid prayer on the pitch, which is great, but it follows on from the last few years of having a prayer room installed, having alcohol-free bars, having Halal food [and] launching an Ewood Express service to bring young people and families to the stadium.

“All the things we have to do to attract a new wave of supporters from our South Asian community.”

In Wales’ capital city, Eid prayers were held at Cardiff City Hall on Monday morning. Video footage shared to Twitter showed hundreds of people gathered outside the venue following the event.

“This I believe is the largest gathering for Eid Prayers in Cardiff by the City Hall,” one attendee said.

Last year prayers were held outside on the grounds of Cardiff Castle in line with Covid-19 restrictions.

In Scotland, Eid prayers took place at Edinburgh Central Mosque and outside on the grass at Inverleith Park.

Following Eid prayers, the mosque also hosted a community celebration from morning until afternoon, providing entertainment and refreshments for attendees.

This included activities for children such as face-painting, balloon modelling and bouncy castles.

The Independent

Gloucestershire Cricket hosted around 900 people from within our local communities in Bristol for a mass Eid celebration to mark the end of Ramadan.

Families from across the city descended on the Seat Unique Stadium on Monday morning for prayers on the outfield for what was a unifying observance of one of the most significant celebrations in the Muslim calendar.

Thirty to forty minutes of morning prayers were led by the Imam on the cricket pitch, a symbolic event that ended with refreshments for all that attended. The Eid celebration was the first time Gloucestershire has held an Eid event at its home ground in the Club's 152-year history.

Eid al-Fitr, which is its full name, marks the end of Ramadan - the Muslim holy month of fasting from dawn to sunset, spiritual reflection and prayer. The Eid celebrations are therefore about accomplishment, as well as joy and sense of goodwill to all.

Last week, on Thursday 28 April, Glos players Naseem Shah and Zafar Gohar were fortunate enough to be invited to the Grand Iftar on St Mark's Road, Easton. The occasion is held to allow people who fast for Ramadan to come together for their evening meal - also know as an 'iftar' - and celebrate the breaking of fast.

Eid Mubarak is the traditional greeting used at Eid celebrations and means “blessed Eid” or “Happy Eid”.

Shahid Akram, Events Coordinator at the Bristol Muslim Cultural Society, said: "It was truly an honour to have the opportunity of working with Glos at their beautiful stadium for our end of the month Ramadan gathering. Eid Ul-Fitr prayers were arranged outdoors on the green as is recommend within the teachings of Islam.

"The venue as well as the prayers were thoroughly enjoyed by all those who attended and was followed by a lovely cup of tea in the pavilion. Feedback has been nothing short of wonderful so thanks to all who arranged this and worked hard behind the scenes, including the local residents, for providing such a warm welcome."

Pete Lamb, Head of Community at Glos Cricket, added: “Eid is so important to so many people in Bristol and it was a pleasure to provide our Muslim community a venue where families could come and celebrate the end of Ramadan.

"We’re striving to develop and strengthen relationships right across the county and we’re fully committed to supporting and including everyone in our local community.

"I'd like to thank everyone who came along and hope Eid was enjoyed by all who celebrated in Gloucestershire and around the world."

Nation celebrates Eid ul Adha with religious zeal, fervour
President Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif felicitate nation and Muslim Ummah on occasion of Eid ul Adha

Muslims across Pakistan are celebrating Eid ul Adha with religious devotion and respect today (Sunday).

Animal sacrifices are being offered to God to pay homage to Prophet Ibrahim's (AS) historic sacrifice.

Eid gatherings are in full swing across the country. Meanwhile, the Meteorological department has indicated the possibility of rain across the country, including Karachi, on the three days of Eid.

Eid prayers’ congregations were held at mosques, Eidgahs and open places in all cities, towns and villages.

President, PM felicitate nation, Muslim Ummah on Eid
President Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and National Speaker Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf felicitated the nation and Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid ul Adha.

The President, in his message, said the spirit of sacrifice carries a universal significance. He said sacrifice is not merely an act of animal slaughter but its real goal is to sacrifice personal desires for accomplishing a higher purpose.

The PM, in his message, said this holy day is a message of sacrifice and complete submission to Allah. He said the Muslim Ummah will have to play a collective role in helping the deserving and destitute segments of society.

The National Assembly speaker said Eid ul Adha reflects the values of sacrifice, compassion and happiness for us, however, the true joy relates with taking care of the needy and to include them in our happiness.
