England [162/7] fight back to defeat Australia [160/6] by 2 runs in the first T20I

I'm still fuming about this. One of the worst chokes in recent memory. Warner's dismissal is probably what really changed the game, and it was very poor shot selection. Exposing your stumps to a guy bowling at nearly 150kph when there's very little scoreboard pressure is brainless.

Smith is the one to blame. His role is to anchor and Australia needed 39 from 35 with 9 wickets in hand. Instead he played a stupid aggressive shot on the back of criticisms that he needs to up his strike rate in T20s.

Reckless and completely unnecessary dismissal from someone whose very role is to anchor the side.

This is the danger of fans’ criticisms of Babar - it’s the very same. Let them both play their natural games.

Didnt know Aussies had these kind of collapses in them, shambolic stuff.

Kudos to England and especially Morgan who is definitely the best limited overs captain around.

Some cringeworthy posts during the match...

England are absolutely head and shoulders above the Aussies in both T20’s and ODI’s and even if they lost this game that wouldn’t game this...

Wait until Roy. Stokes and Woakes are
back

what makes you say that? they have only beaten australia at home They are yet to win away and are yet to beat them I subcontinent.

This was the worst choke by Australia I have seen in a long time. Match rust maybe?

England beat Australia 4-1 in Australia in 2018.

England is comfortably better in ODIs and T20Is. The gap isn’t that significant in Test cricket either.

Overall, England is a superior cricket team at the moment when you factor in all formats.

I was told by posters that England would beat Australia 9/10 times. Guess this is the one time when Aus will beat them :))

Have to wait for another day.

This England team is super clutch.

Australia seemed to be walking it in the five minutes attention I gave this match.

oh ok. dint know that. pretty impressive if they won away.

The gap in tests isnt significant but I don't see England drawing in australia.
They would lose by a minimum of 2 test margin in a best case scenario.

I wonder. With an attack of Wood, Archer, Broad and Stokes, and batting reinforced by Stokes, Crawley and Pope they can do more damage than the insipid team they sent last time.

maybe. England may not have the best players in the team apart from stokes but as a team they have the best balance with ability to bat deep and have players who can provide support with the ball as well.
