What's new

England (507/9d & 185/6d) draw the 2nd Test against West Indies (411 & 135/5) in Bridgetown

We need a result pitch for the final Test, even if they need to quickly sort out a drop-in option.

A dull series for the most part.

It’s not fair on the West Indies and English bowlers at all to make them toil for hundreds of overs in these conditions with little or no reward.

Jack Leach into his 59th over, urgh… he’ll be aching.

Wi need to bat today and Tommorow and than make resulting pitch next. England bowler would be tired as hell and will not have time to recover

Run rate has juddered to a practical standstill again.

Looks WI new batting coach is Azhar Ali with the reverse snail pace they are going at.

Each over WI bat from now on , will make it difficult for England to try and push for win.

This is now the most balls faced by a West Indies batter in a Test innings since Brian Lara's world record 400 in 2004.

Kraigg Brathwaite is on 155.

Much better from England today

1 wicket left for West Indies and England have a lead of 104 at the moment.

What would you want them to do play an odi innings and throw their wkts away?

They had no hope of winning the game once England scored 500 Their best hope was to not fold like a pack of cards n take as much time out of the game as possible which they have done

If anyone is to blame for this its the pitch Which is providing a dull contest once again

Joshua Da Silva needs to be farming the strike here. Why take a single off the first ball of the over ?

Yes. He’s played a really poor innings IMO, no cricket sense at all. Lucky to survive the early inswinging onslaught from Saqib also.

Committed effort by England in the end. They have a useful lead. Surely not enough time to force a result here though.

Well well. Kemar Roach has started excellently here and Crawley given LBW.

Reviewed and it's missing leg though.

Need seam from both ends. Permaul just hasn't looked threatening in this series albeit on unresponsive pitches.

England gave themselves a slim chance of victory over West Indies in the second Test in Barbados by taking a lead of 136 into the final day.

After finally dismissing West Indies for 411, England openers Alex Lees and Zak Crawley reached 40-0 at the close having faced 15 overs.

The tourists will look for quick runs in the morning session before declaring and attempting to bowl out their opponents in the time remaining for victory.

But the struggle England had ending West Indies' first innings, which lasted 187.5 overs, shows the difficulties they will face.

West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite turned his 109 not out overnight into an 11-hour 160 from 489 balls before he was finally bowled by Jack Leach.

On a turgid pitch that makes run-scoring and wicket-taking tough, England's bowlers toiled until they took the 10th West Indies wicket in the evening session.

The series opener in Antigua was drawn so if this Test ends in the same result the series will be level at 0-0 going into the final match in Grenada, starting on Thursday.

A slight and almost tantalising chance of an England win here.

They lead by 136 and may be looking to add quick runs on the final morning ahead of a declaration. They could create some decent pressure in the hope of bowling out the West Indies as the shadows begin to lengthen.

West Indies lost 7 for 140 or so in the final third of their innings yesterday, and the pitch seems to be offering more and more glimpses of assistance to the bowlers, so it is theoretically possible.

It would require a monumental England team performance though. Rapid scoring for the duration of the morning session (minimum 5, ideally 6 per over), and then a mammoth bowling effort from an already exhausted bowling attack.

I’m not ruling it out yet. First see if they actually go for it, or just rest the bowlers with the third Test in mind and play out the draw today — which after nearly 200 overs in the field would be understandable to be honest.

Depends on what the state of play is at lunch. Can judge what’s going on then.

Personally — I think they should go for it!

England might wake up and have a bad day at the office in Test 3 and then they would suddenly be battling to save a 0-0, and they may not get into a position this healthy again…

There's more chance of bowlers picking up injuries than forcing a result on this road, I wouldn't bother if I was root

Lead is now worth 136 runs.

England can bat till lunch and then try to bowl West Indies out in 2 sessions. Highly unlikely though.

England quite happy to get rolled chasing quick runs here so they can have another bowl.

Current lead is 170 with 7 wickets remaining.

Rain.

Hopefully shouldn’t take too long to blow over and no time is lost.

Dan Lawrence and Ben Stokes hitting some massive boundaries here.

As long as the rain breaks remain super-short then the time can be made up.

England this morning are already getting up to the 6 an over that they will have been targeting.

Could declare at lunch.

The ebbs and flows of Test cricket the purest form now rain comes in wish T20 was not invented

1.03 pm: England have declared. West Indies need 282 in 65 overs to win the second Test; England need 10 wickets.

England have declared during the lunch break in Barbados.

They've left West Indies needing 282 to win with 65 overs left in the match.

Great start from England.

Hopefully rain stays away and this plays to a finish.

Windies have been positive in terms of run scoring. Their run rate is over 3.0 despite the loss of two wickets.

Bonner gone for 3.

Fantastic delivery from Saqib Mahmood.

if England can get Brathwaite soon then they will have a great chance.

Brathwaite and Blackwood proving the immovable partnership once again.

England will be desperate to prise out one of them before tea.

England now seem to have settled on Leach and Lawrence with fielders around the bat as their best chance of winning the match.

Unlikely spin twins.

Brathwaite not reading Lawrence’s spinners.

Kraigg must be getting tired now to be fair.

Lawrence just needs to find the line. He is bowling beautifully. The action is pure Hollywood run up like a leggy to delivery offies!

Holder gone for a duck!

Jack Leach, great catch Lawrence!

One more and it’s into the tail!

This could happen!
