What's new

England (657 & 264/7d) defeat Pakistan (579 & 268) by 74 runs to win the 1st Test in Rawalpindi

Lmao Agha was just as surprised as anyone.

He seemed to be walking towards the end of the review.

What a dumb shot by salman before tea. Lucky to still be in.

Omg Ben Stokes face :))

Stride was big, close to outside the crease. Hit him flush in the chest. Not sure what's surprising even if this pitch has generated low bounce

Pakistan giving away chances to English bowlers now while trying to enforce the issue. That's why is difficult to not lose wickets while going for runs.

Want England to win, Pakistan don’t deserve this win. A win will do more damage long term to Pakistan.

Ball is proper reversing big time...if wood was here match would have been over by now.

Why are Pakistan so poor against leg side deliveries? These should be getting slapped for boundaries.

That was not out.
Side on angle showed it would had been bounced way above wicket.

Is England going to take the new ball? There hasn't been any convential swing but its reversing quite a bit now.

Tea, pakistan need to see game out and see off the new ball. This game is not safe.

Pak must go for win

5 wickets in hand, two set batsmen and 89 to get

I’d rather lose than draw at this stage

This game is poised in a quite tantalising position. There will be a huge number of overs lost due to bad light, and even more than we have been used to because England won’t want to bowl their spinners. (choosing seamers means that the light reading will be more strict.) The draw is still possible here because Pakistan will have to take some risks to get the runs — if they do, England could then come back into it.

86 runs but only around 22 overs expected. Pakistan need to score quickly immediately after tea. Draw seems the most likely outcome?

I agree, a draw is likely here.

Pakistan still have a good chance of winning.

The England win has reduced to an outside chance.

England is just one wicket away from victory. Four tailenders Naseem, Rauf, Ali and Mahmood to follow after this.

If Pakistan are able to get a couple of big overs early in the session, that will force England to be more defensive and open up room for singles/doubles.

I think Agha is the key man if Pakistan are to chase this. He has the ability to score quickly.

1-0 is waiting for you on the platter

You need to win 4/5 to play the WTC final

We can afford to lose by trying to win!

This partnership is the key, if they add 40 more Pak will win.

Still though odds are:

50% draw

25% England win

25% Pakistan win

Draw or Eng win is still likelier here.

Eng can always slow down the game and plug the gaps on the field if Pakistan get close.

Go on Saqlain be brave for once in your career and tell your remaining 5 players to go for the win and not safety first!

What good is a draw to us? It gives us nothing! We must go for the win!

Where is Ramiz Raja telling his players what to do now?

Don't get ahead of yourselves.

One wicket and it'll be panic stations. God help us if Azhar's the last specialist bat - remember Abu Dhabi 2018 Test vs NZ.

All that tuk tuk at the start of day. Something like 17 runs of 16 overs frm the overs the seamers bowled might come back to bite them. A difference of 10-15 could be the difference

I'd say salman should play his shots. England will do their best to reduce the overs by slowing things down. Especially if they see pakistan strolling towards the target. So best option is salman to play his shots and azhar Ali to tick along with all that experience.

Poor batting from both batsmen in last few overs. Almost trying their best to get out.

Last session, 20 odd overs left and Pakistan needed to attack to chase the target.

First over: maiden.

Classic Pakistan.

Azhars shinning moment as a bottle job.

What pakistan cant do is let the Runs dry up. Will only make it hard for themselves if they need something like 5-6 an over.

There is absolutely no need to go for it until 4pm.
See how the situation stands at that point.
Don't forget our aukat. We can fold from here in 40 minutes. 86 in 20 overs when you have no batter in the shed and Azhar at the crease is incredibly hard
No need to hand over a test match by getting sucked in by England

So less than 20 overs left and first 9 balls after tea no runs. Great. What does it take for Pakistan to change their mindset.

I firmly believe this pak coaching staff think a draw here is as good as a win considering how day 1 went

I am really hoping for a wicket here. Want to see what our P ussy cats can do under a bit more pressure

2 maidens

If they are playing for the draw

I hope they lose

What a garbage start. 2 maidens to begin the session.

Man, just go for the freaking win. No one was expecting you to be in this position anyways after giving up 657 runs in your first innings.

Seriously. The only other idea incan think of is they are waiting for the new ball to target that. As it will come onto the bat better. No other reason for 15 dots when you've got 20 overs left and need 85 to win on a final day in a test match

Drawing still gives a chance to win the series.

This is our pathetic mentality. This is why we DO NOT deserve to win this match. If England wanted to settle for a draw this match would have been drawn ages ago. They’ve gone for the win giving any relevance to the game.

If England had batted like Pakistan in their second innings, they’d never had made enough runs quick enough to declare. Pakistan would never have declared going for a win as we would rather draw than try win.

We are the truest p ussy cats of the game

Drawing still gives a chance to win the series.

It's not about winning the series, its about racking up as many wins in these Tests to make the finals.

A whopping 1 run 3 overs in. Just the type of shameful approach we can expect from this team.

Feels sorry for the Crowd who have arrived here on a busy weekday, only to witness these guys doing TUKTUK and feeling happy with a boring Draw.

Shameful mentality..
