England beat Pakistan by 3 wickets in the first Test at Manchester in a close encounter

Some of the guys on here think that players like Buttler will lie down, he won't. This couner attack was expected and tbh, we haven't bowled any rubbish, the batting has been excellent. PK need to keep their nerve as these guys are good players but we have the runs on the board.
 
Buttler’s test career has been revolving around Pak tours mainly

Exactly, time and again this has happened. 2018 Buttler almost got too close until Abbas got him.

Shaheen has been ordinary this test aswell. He is our best pace bowler, and if he churns out performances like this, he should be given a right chittar. Complacent bowling to a mediocre batsman, who's feet were firm outside leg-stump 80% of the time.

Yes and no. Some OK bowling together with some bowling which was not to the field. But importantly, I don’t think we have thaat many runs left to play with.

That’s stupid , a bowler is not entitled to take off the same batsman every time when he bowls at them.

Ofcourse but, every team tries to go with bowlers which have done against a particular batsman recently. I dont exactly agree with it
 
Even though Yasir wasn't very tidy, he is still the most successful Pakistani bowler in this game (6 wickets).

No excuse for bowling half-volley after half-volley to a batsman who's feet are jammed outside the leg-stump. The brain dead part was coming round the wicket, and still bowling half-volleys outside off, rather than cramp him for room

Shaheen got bashed by that Zazai hack, when he played a few shots. He just loses the plot and starts to bowl like Muhammad Sami.
 
Tactics haven't been great.
Didn't make a lot of sense to get Yasir around the wicket at that stage.
Defensive field placement too.
Batsmen coming on front front driving through covers a lot, should have got short cover in place.
Gave away about 20 or 30 runs because of this.
 
What the hell is the point of playing Shadab if he's not going to bowl as many overs?

He bowled 3.3 overs in the first innings and he just bowled his second now.

What the hell were they thinking? They were better off playing a 6th batsman with Rizwan dropping to 7.
 
how the hell are pakistam allowing woakes of all people to bat them out of the game. You have a lead of 277. It shouldn't be that hard to bowl them out.

C'mon. regroup. focus. Bounce them out. for good sake. Bring naseem back. or someone else. Shaheen, why exactly are you blessed with a height of 6'7 whatever??? use your height and bounce then out. Abbas and shadab need to bowl more overs.
 
Pakistan has a long history of getting flustered by a counter attack in these sort of situations. And often our captains are content to just sit back and let it happen.
 
This match has been frustrating... I can't take it anymore.Its becoming a nail biting contest and believe me I am becoming so impatient... Yaar plz end this now.
 
Relax. 110 runs needed. Unless Target comes around 50, Pak should not panic. Let's see how long can Butler and Woakes play like this.
 
That 5th bowler that everyone was pining for sure has come handy. 5.3 overs combined bowled so far in the two innings.

Really needed those 5 overs instead of a specialist batsmen I guess.
 
The pitch gets difficult to bat on towards the end of the day. Think Pakistan should wrap up the wickets

It all depends on how the pitch plays out
 
buttler was on the brink of being dropped. Thanks a lot now shaheen, yasir and co. You guys could have faced a fodder like foakes for the rest of the series. Now buttler has regained his confidence. He may be a difference make in this series.
 
I think we need to bring in shaheen and naseem... Try to push them back with short stuff and try to hit the bads..
Pakistan need to just play their A game for a session to get this.

Yup. Give this (when the 5th fell) situation to Smith/Paine, Kohli, Williamson or Root. Don’t think they would let it get to this.
 
It’s getting interesting....110 with five wickets and probably world’s strongest tail, and two set batsmen. It’s going to the wire - may be all-rounder Yasir ‘s 33 is going to be the deciding factor here.

Woakes and butler should maintain this run rate. Batting will be tricky towards the end, a few wickets going will be inevitable. Better to let the tail have as less runs to score as possible
 
We can only win this if butler gets out. Otherwise he will take it home. Its only a boundary an over for anotanothanotanotheanotanothanotanother 20 overs and game over.
 
I knew as soon as england Start going for it pak will bottle it. Problem is england have a few more players to come who can play shots. Thats why its important to get these 2 out before the required target is less than 80. As anything less than that broad and the tail will play ther shots and take the chance
 
Fairly muted is the PAK camp now, don’t you think? I somehow feel, that on this occasion no concrete plan has been offered.
 
99 runs needed now. Pressure has completely shifted. This is 60-40 in favor of England.
