What's new

England beat Pakistan by 3 wickets in the first Test at Manchester in a close encounter

Ebony saying Pak has always been one of my favourite teams to watch.

Took 4 wickets and scored 33 runs as a tailender. Thoughts on yasir @ Junaids
I’m delighted for him.

I just love cricket, and while I will always point out my preferences and concerns, ultimately I just appreciate any good performances.

Have to say - disappointing opening spell from Shaheen; not a single ball openers were any doubt. And, he probably bowled a yard short with new ball.

Variable bounce for Naseem, one just died and then the next one took off. Good signs for Pakistan

Uneven bounce, ball not rising and then jumping to keepers head

Naseem revealing the uneven bounce on this pitch.
4th ball died. 6th ball flew. That'll play on the batsmen's minds.

Good run rate. This may just creep away early. Captaincy will be properly under scrutiny.

Abbas in England is actually unfair. Top class bowling so far.

Abbas deserved this. He was challenging both edges all morning. Need to capitalise now. Don't let Root settle. Bring his pads into play. Sort of wicket where one will bring two.

Abbas has one hell of a cricketing mind, future is bright in the management roles as well. :inti

so where are all those who were crying about umpires call yesterday

So will Holding and our fans cry about this decision like they did over Rizwan’s?

We were told that this umpire is biased towards England.

The more I see the more I’m convinced that Naseem is the rockstar and Shaheen is his supporting partner

In test cricket Naseem is bit more mature which is probably due to a season of QAE behind before his debut. Shaheen will get better with time in test cricket, he has all the ingredients just need bit more experience and consistency.

:)), see.

Now no one is gonna discuss that

I don’t think bias was the issue even if some idiots were crying about it

Don't know about Holding but there's certainly a lot of tears flowing out of Peshawar at the moment

The problem is when the ball is shown as hitting the stumps but because the umpire said no instead of yes, it’s not out.

and to think akram was talking about bringing in yasir shah here in place of abbas

There is no conspiracy or bias. It was and still is about consistency. And that’s not consistency in terms of the human umpire but potential revision of definition of clipping vs hitting and it being accepted by all.

That ball came off the track from round the wicket, a leg cutter; most difficult ball to master. DK Lillee was master of that ball, .... and with a bit more pace than Abbas.

Rory burns and sibley really are paanch dus over ke players

I thoght of posting same.
Yesterday some posters called biased umpiring

Burns was giving Shhh signals after getting out. Some heat out there

The decision still isn't fair to Rizwan and now Burns is added to that loooong list but... life's not fair, mate.

It's a serious debate though. Umpire's call is frustrating always.
