Ofcourse there is are you saying his WC 100 away from home doesnt count? or are you saying his 100 in all corners of earth doesnt count? compare to Dhoni who has got none? and just so you know none means zero outside Asia.
Gilchrist opened for the best team in the world in over 280 games and has only 16 tons to his name, and more than half of those tons came against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. He underachieved big time with the bat. Someone with his ability should have scored at least 25+ hundreds.
Yes he did score a hundred in a World Cup final, but he failed badly in every semifinal (World Cup + Champions Trophy) but his team was good enough to carry him to the final on each occasions (except Champions Trophy 2004). That is the luxury that you get when you play for a team that is pretty much invincible.
I have no issues with people rating Gilchrist higher in ODIs because there are holes in Dhoni's career as well, but it is far from a lopsided comparison.
