There is no difference between Hamilton and western Pakistanis shedding crocodile tears for Muslims and criticizing their government for bombing Muslims while funding the bombs with their taxes.

Surely your being sarcastic when you mention Hamilton, who had to work his backside off to get to the privilege position he's in today as possibly the Greatest sportsman from the United kingdom ever.

So white people don’t work their backsides off to get to the top. That only applies to black people right?

And lol at Hamilton being the greatest sportsman from UK. Driving the fastest car in F1 certainly makes him the greatest. Let’s see how he would do if he was racing for a team like Force India and not Mercedes.

Boris Johnson has told England fans not to boo footballers taking the knee, after previously failing to criticise supporters who jeered the protest against racial injustice.

Number 10 said the prime minister wants the public to "cheer (the players) on, not boo" ahead of the Euro 2020 tournament, and he explicitly supported players who decide to take part in the protest.

It comes after the PM's official spokesman previously declined to condemn fans who booed the players, only going so far as urging them to be "respectful".

Downing Street has now gone further to tell crowds not to jeer the national team after coming under pressure to take a firmer stance.

Asked if Mr Johnson backs players taking the knee, a Number 10 spokesman said: "Yes. The prime minister respects the right of all people to peacefully protest and make their feelings known about injustices.

"The prime minister wants to see everybody getting behind the team to cheer them on, not boo."

Last week England players were met with boos by some fans when taking the knee at the Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough, prior to the friendly matches against Austria and Romania.

Gareth Southgate's side - who play their opening Euro 2020 match on Sunday - have insisted taking the knee is not a political gesture, saying they are doing it to reinforce the message that racism and discrimination will not be tolerated.

In an open letter to England fans in The Players' Tribune, England manager Southgate said he has "a responsibility to the wider community to use my voice, and so do the players".

He added: "It's their duty to continue to interact with the public on matters such as equality, inclusivity and racial injustice, while using the power of their voices to help put debates on the table, raise awareness and educate."

Earlier on Friday, former prime minister Gordon Brown told the government to support the England team's decision to take the knee before matches and stop fighting culture wars over "unimportant" gestures.

Comedian David Baddiel, who famously released the England football anthem Three Lions with Frank Skinner and The Lightning Seeds, also accused Mr Johnson of "playing a culture war game".

Scotland have announced they will take the knee alongside England when the two teams play each other at Wembley next Friday, after Steve Clarke's team had said they would not be doing the gesture at the tournament.

Wales have said they will continue to take the knee before their matches.

A YouGov poll found more football fans in Europe - including those in England, Scotland and Wales - are supportive of players taking the knee than are against it.

In England, from a survey of 547 football fans, 54% said they back players and staff taking the knee to support the Black Lives Matter movement.

Half of those people (27%) said they strongly support it, with the other half somewhat supporting it.

Euro 2020 begins tonight, with Turkey taking on Italy, after the tournament was delayed by a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Wales play Switzerland in their first match on Saturday, with England kicking off their campaign on Sunday against Croatia.

Scotland's opening game is against the Czech Republic on Monday.

Booing Muslim players doing sajdah would also be booing an act

You keep repeating this strange argument. Its siimple. Booing anyone because of their race, religion or ethncity is obviously wrong. Here they are booing the ACT of taking a knee, not black players, white or muslim players etc.

Now we have Boris wading in again, the same buffoon who has made numerous racist remarks towards blacks.

The whole thing has become a joke.

Sport is a release for people away from politics, keep it out of football!

When did i question white people? You were specifically on about hamilton on which i replied to. My wife is white and English, and both my boys are more white than of Asian appearance so let's get something clear, I respect people of all races as equal.

Hamilton the sportsman in my opinion is not only the Greatest f1 driver of all time but i said POSSIBLY the Greatest sportsman in the UK ever, and he drives the same car botas drives who doesn't look like winning a championship, so it's more ability than the car itself.

Never been an english football man and have bad experiences at grounds across the UK. Even in recent pre covid times.

I do quite like Gareth Southgate though and much like the England cricket team, the current football team is reflective of modern England ( or Britain) the players seem socially more aware than the louts, whiners and primma dons of old.

Southgates recent open letter was a great read and from other dressing room informations its clear what taking the knee means to the players and why they are doing it.

Thats honestly enough for me in this case. I'll take their word for it rather than listen to other peoples reasons for why the players are doing it and what the gesture allegedly means.

Pretending its about "politics" etc is just burying your head in the sand. Its the same argument racists make when they claim they cant be racist when being islamophobic as iSlaM isN't a RaCe. Its childish. The rest of us weren't born yesterday.

Finally, I've made it a point in life to try as much as possible to be on the opposite side of the fence to Nigel Farage which thankfully is the case here again.

This is poor. You need to explain why its not politics instead of making poor accuastions against anyone who doesnt support this act on the field of play. Are blacks who oppose the knee also racist? This is how silly your words are.

England players were initially booed by sections of the crowd before applause and cheering broke out as the team took a knee ahead of their Euro 2020 opener against Croatia at Wembley on Sunday.

Despite the FA urging supporters who oppose the pre-match gesture to "reflect on the message you are sending to the players you are supporting", the advice was ignored by a small section of the expected 22,500 crowd.

Some supporters had previously booed England players taking a knee ahead of their pre-tournament friendlies against Austria and Romania at the Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough.

The FA and the England team have continually reiterated taking a knee is not aligned to a political organisation or ideology with fans asked to drown out any boos with applause.

Once the boos were heard inside Wembley, many supporters did begin to applaud while the Croatia team remained standing as they had confirmed they would do so before the game.

England boss Gareth Southgate said last week he would not allow his players to continue to be questioned about the knee and the subsequent reaction once the tournament started.

A UEFA spokesman confirmed ahead of the game the governing body cannot punish any nations whose supporters do react to the gesture.

"UEFA has a zero tolerance against racism and any player who wants to demand equality amongst human beings by taking the knee will be allowed to do so," he said.

"We urge spectators to show respect for teams and players taking the knee.

"UEFA will not take disciplinary action against the national association for their fans' reaction to this initiative as there are no legal grounds to do so in the current competition and disciplinary regulations and to do so would be to punish a national association whose players have taken a stand against racism."

England's next Group D feature will be against Scotland at Wembley on Friday evening with manager Steve Clarke and captain Andy Robertson confirming the side would take a knee in order to offer a united front.

More football fans in Europe - including in England, Scotland and Wales - are supportive of players taking a knee than against it, but they are split over the gesture's importance in tackling racism, according to a major survey.

Polling company YouGov has shared with Sky Sports News the results of a study of 4,500 football fans carried out across nine countries in March this year, during the football season.

Most nations and groups had more fans who supported players taking a knee, with opposition mostly coming from a vocal minority.

Fans were asked: In some countries, professional football players and staff have chosen to kneel at the beginning of each game to show their support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Would you support or oppose professional players and staff in your country kneeling before each game in this fashion?

In England, from a survey of 547 football fans, 54 per cent said they support players and staff taking a knee to support the Black Lives Matter movement. Half of these people (27 per cent) said they strongly support it, with the other half somewhat supporting it.

Some 39 per cent of football fans in England said they opposed players taking a knee while seven per cent said they did not know. In the last fortnight, England players faced boos from some of their own fans attending their final two Euro 2020 warm-up games at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium.

In Scotland 49 per cent said they supported players taking a knee, with 42 per cent against from a survey of 352 football fans completed at the end of February. In Wales, from a sample of 308 football fans, 53 per cent said they were supportive of the gesture with 37 per cent opposing it.

YouGov also spoke to a sample of almost 200 ethnically diverse football supporters in Great Britain. Among those fans, 78 per cent said they supported it, 12 per cent did not, with 10 per cent saying they did not know.

There were also high levels of support among fans in some European countries. Portugal had the highest with 79 per cent, followed by Italy (73 per cent) and Spain (71 per cent). Only the Netherlands had less support and more opposition with 44 per cent in favour, and 45 per cent not supporting the move.

Not supporting the knee it isn't the same as booing it or supporting those who boo it.

If the England players feel strongly about it and feel its about racism let them get on with it.

The only silly ones are those that pay money to boo their own team which will negatively affect their performance in a major national tournament.

Euros and taking the knee: Why some England fans say they are booing players

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-57382945

Colin Kaepernick started kneeling symbolically during the pre-game national anthem in the NFL in 2016, in protest at police violence against African-Americans in the United States.

And since last year, when the Black Lives Matter movement gained momentum in the wake of the murder of George Floyd by a police officer in the US, athletes taking the knee before fixtures has become a familiar sight.

Taking the knee should be booed at, it is symbolic of a racist movement.

Only Muslims prostrate to pray. All types of people take the knee, this is a simple observation.

Sure but you stated taking the knee was not political, it is. See the history.

You only take the knee to stand with black community. If booing sajdah is racism against Muslims then booing taking the knee is protesting against black people

Tyrone Mings says the England team want to "educate and inform" in response to criticism from Home Secretary Priti Patel for taking the knee.

The England players were booed by some fans prior to their Euro 2020 game with Croatia at Wembley on Sunday.

Patel accused the side of participating in "gesture politics" despite the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, urging fans to "cheer them" and not boo.

"We have our own set of beliefs," Mings said.

In an interview with GB News, Patel said: "I just don't support people participating in that type of gesture politics to a certain extent.

"It's all well to support a cause and, you know, make your voices heard, but actually, quite frankly, and we saw last year in particular with some of the the protests that took place, I speak now very much from what I saw and the impact on policing. It was devastating."

The Football Association had asked fans to respect the players' wishes to highlight racial injustice.

Boos on Sunday were met by an ovation from the majority of the 22,500 crowd.

"To the home secretary, I don't really have a direct message," added Mings.

"I mean we spoke, actually she invited me on to a Zoom call once, where she seemed so interested and engrossed in the players' point of view and what we could do more to tackle these sort of issues.

"But at the same time, everybody's entitled to their own opinion and she is one of many, many people that oppose us taking the knee or refuse to defend it.

"We think about what we can do to help and there will be players that can be influential and can stand up for what we believe in.

"We spoke about trying to educate or trying to inform the minority who refuse to acknowledge why we're taking the knee and want to do it.

"At the same time, at Wembley there was a hugely positive reaction to us taking the knee as well and I don't think that should be overshadowed by the minority that refuse to accept what the reasons are, or don't agree with them."

The Football Association had released a statement asking fans not to boo the England players after they were jeered during two warm-up matches in Middlesbrough earlier in the month.

Scotland will join England in taking the knee when the teams meet at Wembley on 18 June, but will stand against racism in their home group matches.

Footballers will no longer take the knee before every Premier League game this season.

Instead, the captains of the league's 20 clubs have agreed to use specific moments during the campaign to take the knee "to amplify the message that racism has no place in football or society".

In a statement, the league said: "The Premier League supports the players' decision and, alongside the clubs, will use these opportunities to elevate anti-racism messaging as part of the League's No Room for Racism Action Plan."

Players will take the knee during this weekend's opening games of the season, at dedicated No Room for Racism matches in October and March, Boxing Day fixtures after the World Cup has finished, the last day of the season and the FA and EFL cup finals.

The Premier League captains said in a statement: "We have decided to select significant moments to take the knee during the season to highlight our unity against all forms of racism and in so doing we continue to show solidarity for a common cause.

"We remain resolutely committed to eradicate racial prejudice, and to bring about an inclusive society with respect and equal opportunities for all."

Players and staff at Premier League clubs began taking the knee prior to kick-off in games in June 2020 to show their support for the movement for racial equality.

The decision was supported by the Premier League, with players and match officials wearing 'No Room For Racism' badges on their shirts.

Maheta Molango, PFA chief executive, said: "We've always been clear that choosing whether to take the knee should be a personal decision for each individual.

"We've spoken to players about this and what we've heard is that they want to find a balance. They don't want the gesture of taking the knee to become routine, so that it potentially loses its impact.

"However, they are also committed to using their platform and their voice to continue to bring attention to what remains an extremely important issue, not just in England but around the world."

The clubs began making the gesture in support of the Black Lives Matter movement following the death of George Floyd in the US in May 2020.

It was inspired by NFL player Colin Kaepernick, who took the knee during the US national anthem in protest against racism.

A total of £238,000 will be donated to youth clubs on behalf of the club captains after £119,000 was raised from the royalties of the badges sold on club shirts last season, with the Premier League matching the amount.

BLM is a complete fraud of an organization and their movement is deplorable. They only wake up for the 2 or 3 black people killed by cops in questionable circumstances every year. But every week in places like Chicago, Detroit, NY and Miami, hundreds of black people get shot due to gang violence and thuggery. Not a squeak from BLM. All we hear are Crickets.

Does anyone believe its a racist act to boo sports stars taking the knee?

No. I do not think it is racist at all.

Racism would be if the person says something derogatory. Not taking knee or booing those who take knees is not racist.

There are many ways to show support; not just taking knees.

Think it’s the right time to move away from daily taking of the knee and reserve it for occasional use instead.

West Ham's Michail Antonio and Newcastle's Callum Wilson have backed the decision to stop taking the knee before every Premier League match.

Premier League captains decided to reduce the anti-racism gesture after consulting with players.

It will still take place before certain games, including the 26 December fixtures and cup finals, as well as the last matches of the 2022-23 campaign.

All teams took the knee on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

"Doing it week-to-week, just because it's something we've been told to do, I think it's probably faded and lost its impact," said Newcastle forward Wilson on the latest episode of the Footballer's Football Podcast.

"It's definitely good that it's not getting completely stopped," said West Ham striker Antonio, "but it'll have more of an impact at big games."

There will also be dedicated No Room For Racism match rounds in October and March, but Wilson believes gestures within football can only make a limited change.

"I think it comes down to the government doing more, too," he said. "Everyone loves football. Football brings people together, but it can't just be us trying to make that change."

Antonio believes actions like taking the knee can help to educate young people.

"I wouldn't say we should completely stop it," he said. "It still has impact. As kids are going to games, they always say, 'why do they do that?' - I know for a fact that kids are asking the question. They're getting educated."

Gareth Southgate says his England players will take the knee before Monday's World Cup opener against Iran.

The Three Lions have carried out the anti-racism gesture before their matches since the death of George Floyd in 2020.

They have decided to continue with the gesture during the tournament in Qatar after recent talks.

"It's what we stand for as a team and have done for a long period of time," said Southgate.

"We feel this is the biggest and we think it's a strong statement that will go around the world for young people, in particular, to see that inclusivity is very important."

Premier League players also took the knee before matches following football's return from the Covid-19 shutdown in the summer of 2020.

It was then decided ahead of the start of this season to use specific moments throughout the season to take the knee rather than making the gesture at every match.

Oh. My. God.

These SJWs will take the knee, take money, but never take the bullet.

That’s what gestures are. You would have no issue if it was for the freedom of Palestinians or Kashmiris ( which I would support also). This one is for against all sorts of racism.

I think the gesture has expanded to be against any discrimination.

Or a good stretch on one leg?

Taking the knee started after the death of George Floyd. They are taking the knee because of the crimes against blacks in the USA, yet they hate on Qatar but dont ever mention this ?

More gays have been murdered in USA in one day than in Qatars history, see the recent shooting in the gay club.

Black people taking the knee but yet carrying a slave masters name makes no sense to me. These people need to read up on Malcolm X, they might learn something about their history and how to make a real change.
