After three defeats in the ongoing World Cup, England has now lost its coveted #1 ODI rank

India now #1 in both tests and ODIs

Ranking has no value now in the middle of a tournament​. The team who is going to win the world cup is the rank 1 team in my opinion.

Yea, Test and ODI rankings have no value. The only ranking that matter is T20 ranking.
 
India deserve it. They adapt their game to the situation better than England .
 
India deserves to be no.1 in test cricket. However, odi ranking in the middle of world cup doesn't have any value. If India wins the world cup , they deserves to be world no.1

T20? Meh.
 
India is the true number 1 team but they should lose the WC just for the pathetic management of their resources.

The only ranking which have value are Test rankings.

I’ve always maintained this that of all rankings only the test seem to have a strong enough methodology behind it. The only flaw I find in it is that home and away tests are rated equally which should not be the case

Completely agree.Also more points should be awarded if you beat a higher ranked opponent than beating a minnow way below you.

India is the real #1 team in the world capable of beating any team on any ground in any conditions.

England's #1 rating was built on bullying teams on flat tracks.

Seems to me that you are the kind of person who would rather be vindicated for your dislike of certain people than actually hope that the team lifts the trophy.

Hussain was telling "India will only go after bad balls" not sure if he was gloating that England can go after good balls. Honestly playing the ball on its merit always works in any format. That ugly cross batted swipe from bairstow that led to his dismissal proves how they have tuned their game only to suit flat racks.

If only Kohli & Shastri had enough brains to beef up our middle order and had a reserve opener like Shaw/Mayank instead of that pretender.
 
If we don't win this world cup all this doesn't matter. No one remembers who was ranked #1 when world cup was going on, but everyone remembers world cup winners

India doesn't have "world no.1" team now. They have few compromising choices in the line up. Only when they fix that fans confidently expect them to win the world cup.

Yes you are goddamn right! :D

I can understand why you feel that way being a new poster but if you look over my posting history since 2015, you may understand my viewpoint even if you dont agree with it.

Look into the effects this would have.

There is no accountability right now (I have never seen Indian management this bad in my 23 years of watching cricket) and things will worsen if we do win the WC.

So yeah i don't want India to win the WC.

Except if its facing Pak in finals.

England batters could learn something off Indian batters. The way Morgan, Bairstow, and Buttler got out against Australia was pathetic.
 
Why is BD ranked so high? They never seem to do well against top teams, by that I mean top 4 ranked teams.

I think if it's India Vs Pakistan final this time we will lose. This cup is Pakistan's I have a feeling.

If dhawan was there, I would have been sure about India's chance.

This team now has 2 batsman. Forget the non existent middle order, the top order has now one batsman short. It will impact very much.
 
England's "feel good" series against pakistan has done more harm than good lol ALl the tracks were absolute belters. None of the pitches were challenging for batsmen.
 
India are the best team in the world in both the major formats, ODIs and Tests.

T20 is a different format altogether where we can't really say who is no. 1. It is a format where one player can change the consequence of the game in very less time. Any team can win on any given day. So, no real No. 1 in T20s.

Yes things were real clean and hunky dory in the late 90's with the likes of Dungarpur and Azhar calling the shots.

I can't express in words how low I think of people like you who would passionately want their own team to lose just to have that 'I told you so moment '

I honestly believe he's not an Indian. I never saw anything positive from him about Team India except his praises for Ashwin in his posts even from the times I was a lurker on this forum. Perhaps he's Ravi Ashwin himself and venting out all his frustration here for kicking him out of LOI setup! :D

By the way, to answer your question, of course, fixing is a different thing.

The way MSK Prasad and our team management have handled our team....it's beyond pathetic.

They haven't been fixing but the way they are taking decisions....they might as well. :))

Unlike the past, no one is even asking questions anymore. Even commies have been bought and gagged so all they do is only praise and mildly criticise when things get super bad.

So as a fan who has seen it all...the bigger question should be .....how did these people manage to turn a die hard fan into someone who doesn't give a damn.

If India wins, part of me will still be super happy. I will be mocked but that's ok. Any guy who actively roots against his country will get mocked and it's part and parcel of life.

But if India loses, it won't affect me and I will laugh uncontrollably at this management who TOTALLY deserve it.

India are placed number one on the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings for the first time going into an ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 league match but that place remains in the balance as they take on the West Indies at Old Trafford.

India are currently on 123 points, one point ahead of England after the hosts lost to Australia on Tuesday to surrender the top position to India. However, if India lose to the West Indies, they will slip one point behind England to 121 points.
India and England are due to play on 30 June in Birmingham in what could not only be a crucial league match but will also determine who stays ahead on the rankings table.
If India win that match after beating the West Indies, they will move to 124 points with England dropping to 121. On the other hand, if England win, they will move back to top position with 123 points and India a point behind them.
If India lose to the West Indies but beat England, they will remain ahead with 122 points to England’s 121. However, England will gain a lead of three points if they beat India after India lose to the West Indies. England will reach 123 points in such a scenario with India on 120 points.

What is happening now is gradual and one is aware of it all the time unlike fixing.

I am a simple man, I cheer when we win, get sad when we don't, support my team through thick and thin. Such critical thinking are reserved for sensible people like you I suppose.

I'm sure from an Indian fan's perspective there are plenty of areas India can improve but it's a bit nitpicking isn't it at this point? By the way who would you have open instead of Rahul? The middle-order is a genuine issue plaguing most teams this tournament and even though you're blaming Kohli & Shastri, I don't think there is a sure-fire solution at this point! Who would you drop? Who would replace them? I haven't followed international cricket too closely last few years aside from Pakistan games but whenever we came up against India it always seemed like their middle-order was weak ever since Yuvraj/Raina lost their touch.

Time and again, it's proved that Rahul is a mental midget and doesn't belong to this level. Shaw and Mayank weren't given a single ODI to prove themselves.

Kohli and Shastri deserve all the blame they get for this mess.

Yeah this team has simply improved by leaps and bounds without any sort of accountability.

The Supreme Court is basically running BCCI at this point but there is no accountability. But when it was being run by the Jaitleys and the Chidambarams there was great transparency in the system.

Seriously think about what you're saying.

Yes, its not a perfect team. It has a few weaknesses which they have - for whatever reason - been unable to fix.

But for you to ignore everything that they have managed to accomplish and focus on the few shortcomings and then run off with some ridiculous argument about accountability (which, unless you're some insider, i don't see how you can say so with any amount of conviction), quite frankly sounds about as credible as one of Basit Ali's insights.

Excuse me? So does that mean India were the better ODI side than Windies in 83 World Cup or were pakistan the best ODI side in the 92 world cup? It all boils down to consistency and barring the 2 matches left against England and Bangladesh, India has hammered every single side in this tournament.
 
Most heartening thing about this is there is plenty of scope for improvement. There are still some dead woods. This is the last life line for KL Rahul. Dhoni probably will leave on his own terms. Pant will replace him. Shubman Gill will find a place.

Expect to see quite a few changes for our LoI leg of WI tour. Kohli & Bumrah have already been rested. Dhawan too would not have recovered till then. Rohit too should take leave after a gruelling WC.

Hoping to see following,

1) Shaw
2) Mayank
3) Shreyas
4) Gill

Yeah. And it's a fallacy that batsmen win you ODIs. Bowlers will always be the greater breed of cricketers, irrespective of the format.
 
Congratulations to India. They are clearly #1 currently although Australia may replace them soon (in ODI).
 
They are not winning the world cup. It is Australia's to lose. They can't make a designer turning pitch as Australia has better spinner to exploit it.
 
I think Australia will become #1 ODI team soon. They are currently #1 in my book.
