Seems like a very flat pitch.. No pace n bounce, not a lot of seam movement, nothing for the spinners either.. Pitches in Sri Lanka for the recent series were much more sporting..

Smith looking very flukey out there. Very awkward. You can see his middle stump and leg stump as he tries to cover his off.

Patheitc way of playing spin by Smith.

Always has to step down the track to score runs against spinners. This time the ball spins a bit more and he played a horrendous shot.

Smith needs to learn to score against spinners without leaving his crease. This stepping down the track gimmick will not work when the ball actually spins.

Blimey. The best batsman in the world out-thought by the worst spinner in the world / worst tactical captain in the world. Who'da thunk it?

Broad on to monster his semi-bunny Clarke.

once a tailender.....:yk

Rogers choked. Should have played it cool considering his age. But he lost his cool like a newbie.

The India tests were more entertaining than this

At least there were phaintas being handed out in the summer

Warner falls to Anderson

:mc hasn't looked at all comfortable today. Another one goes past the edge

Some uneven bounce already. Could that be a factor on the fourth day? The fifth is likely to be a washout so my money is on the drawn match.

The difference between Smith and Clarke while playing spinners is so glaring. Clarke stays in the crease and still scores a boundaries or singles.

English commies are so awesome.

Gower + Nasser + Atherton + Bumble = GOAT

Even Nick Knight and Michael Vaughn are pretty good.

The only one I do not like is Botham.

No where is anti bhai brigade, and tough luck for Mamoon today. He must be burning.

More like BANG when you think about it.

What a match the Beard is having! A fifty against a strong fast attack then the wickets of the two best oppo batters!

Both Aus and Eng teams have long batting lineups. They all bat till No.8. Even their No.9 and 10 can score 20 or 30 runs if needed.

Every ball i think Watson is gonna get wrapped on the pads and be out lbw. His technique is awful for the swinging ball.

Voges been choked to death by Englands attritional bowling. Very good gameplan by Stokes and England. Cutting off the runs making the Aussies self destruct.

Ordinary batting from Australia, too many batsmen getting in, making starts and not going on to make bigger knocks.

England are ahead.

Watto to troll the haters and make a century tomorrow to give Australia a first innings lead :steyn

That wicket has turned the match England's way.

Johnno can hit Australia out of trouble though, so they have to get him before he does damage.

So, England are not as **** as we all thought, and Australia are not as good as we all thought.

I think England will get a 80-100'run lead. The Aussies do bat deep. Cook had a great day as captain too. Warne must be in his Cave right now

The thing is the Aussies only know one way to play. That is aggressive and attacking. On these slower pitches that style is negated. More patient and attritional cricket is required at times. Something the Aussies can't do. If England get a lead of 100 make Aussies chase around 400 in the 4th innings. They won't have the patience to survive and save the game

Pretty soft effort really, pitch isn't difficult bowling not anything special(was solid but certainly not that tough to face).

Guess it's just as we feared pre series, as said above we have one style of cricket which our coach skipper and selectors actually seem mighty proud of and if we need something else to win in places like england we are **** out of luck.

watto and hads or bust, ah well i sincerely hope thy prove us all wrong.

If we even get rolled on this pitch forget winning this series i think we are looking at another 3-0 loss.

I still think Australia will get 400.

England have played an excellent game of cricket on this pitch so far though, no doubt about that.

New ball would be the key tomorrow. If Jimmy can cause some damage with the new ball, English would be in stronger position. I see a 75 run first innings lead.

I doubt that. I think it will be very close and you will retain the Ashes. You might have to change your keeper and drop Johnson though. Depends what they do in the rest of this match. Only 15 wickets gone in the series so far!

I think barring collapses, this one will be drawn. Which both teams would probably be OK with.

We need about 180 runs today from Watson/Haddin/Johnson and bonus runs from the others to avoid defeat here.

England well on top unless day 5 is washed out

Australian selectors do not drop keepers mid series.

We also don't drop batsman (or Watson) mid series unless we get smashed. If we get smashed the most junior batsman who didn't score big gets dropped and the next in the pecking order is brought in (I call this the Hughes-Khawaja rule).

Bowlers get dropped willy nilly though.

Aggressive and attacking batting might still work on these flat English pitches if they bat first IMO. Which is why the toss is absolutely crucial. England batting first and putting on 430 has pretty much eliminated an OZ win unless someone does a :yk
