England v Australia | T20 | Old Trafford | 30/8/09

79-3 after 13 overs

Australia heading for a score of around 130ish at the moment

Cameron white smacks a huge 6 of swann! his and australias second six of the innings.

Cameron white gets another one!! 3rd SIX for him, this time off sidebottom

Sidebottom is a better bowler then many England bowlers in the squad, how did he miss out in the Ashes, as I say it White hits the 3rd six this time off him

white on fire 3 sixes so far 150 is on and it will be fun watching Eng against pace battery of lee MJ and nancy.

Broads round the wicket strategy works, White is GONE for a well made 55 Australia now 132-4

I had earlier predicted 135 max at that stage with the looks of things the way they were playing but seems like they've picked it up in the last 7-8 overs and might even get to 150!

I'll probably switch back to it during England's innings then!

So Australia finish up on 145-4...luke wright drops a catch off the second last ball.

It starts raining just as the teams go off.

Commetators claiming that clarke has won both t20 matches that hes captained. Wasnt clarke the captain when we absolutely smashed australia in Dubai?
It was Haddin, Clarke left after the ODIs.

Im looking forward to seeing the aussie pace trio of Brett Lee, Dirk Nannes and Mitchell Johnson

Bumble talking about the T20 world cup

He called Mohammad Amir Mohammad Raeef or somethin along those lines :))

Game should restart in about 10 minutes

No overs lost. Still a 20 over innings.

David lloyd says wayne parnell and that pakistani kid (referring to mohammed aamer) were excellent in the world t20...before someone else in the panel tells lloyd that his name is mohammed arim....

So wayne parnell is remembered but the world champions new left arm quick is so insignificant that hes referred to as 'that pakistani kid'?

I think you're over thinking it mate. They have a very tough time remembering Asian names.

I mean most of these commentattors still refer to Inzi as Inzaman. And vice versa a lot of Pakistani born and bred people I know call Ponting Pointing.

I'd cut them some slack in this case.

So many different names used for Mohammad Aamir by the Sky Sports team.

Arif, Raheef, probably a few others..

They also praised Ajmal, Afridi and Gul.

also parnell was one of the stars in u19 wc which saf went till final (he was also the captain) and d lloyd was commenting

I don't remember that Pakistani kid either. Maybe he was talking about Shazaib or Fawad

England falling apart here....australia getting england through bounce and pace they look much more lively on this pitch than the england bowling attack....4-2 and Nannes still to bowl.

However...its raining again...

Nah I have nothing against lloyd, in fact im a fan of his commentating! Who can forget his legendary 'Oh Boom Boom...Boom Boom!' in the final.

I was just surprised because Aamer has played a whole load of international test and ODI cricket since the t20 and is one of the up and coming international players, so I was surprised none of the sy commentary box got his name right!

Is it raining as hard as England-Holland match? I think it was raining pretty hard then and play was not stopped

Yeah but Parnell has played cricket for Kent and also its just a lack of familiarity with the player, it's not about saying the word 'Aamir' after all Amir Khan is one of the biggest sports starts in UK atm.

I would give him the benefit of the doubt.

If the play is to resume England D/L score is 50 so will need 46 runs in 3.5 overs.

Looks like the match has to start in 35-40 min for that. BBC doesn't look optimistic

TMS commentary has gone off air now. They will come back if match resumes

4 minutes ago this was update on cricinfo
5.45pm It's stopped raining. Covers are still on, though, but we're some way from starting I'm afraid. At least half-an-hour, I'd say, so who knows what head-scratching Duckworth-Lewis calculation it'll end up being. More news when we get it. Read the bulletin while you're waiting

More from Cricinfo

6.02pm They're dragging off one of the covers but it's not a pretty sight underneath. Soggy, boggy, and rubbish. And it's raining, which brings a big cheer to the press box, all of whom are sweating over their laptops with deadlines now looming. This is doomed, I'm afraid.

5.55pm The absurdity never ceases. Right, here's what's happening, chaps. The cut-off time is 6.14pm. That's just around the corner, and we have to start again by that time. If we do, England will need 46 from 23.

LOL the weather really hasn't been on our side this whole tour eh.
