England v India | Match 38, World Cup | Edgbaston | 30th June, 2019 | Match Thread

This is a WC game bro. I do think this is a good pitch but 350 even with Dhawan would be difficult to chase

True, that why I said max. with most things going in favor of IND - still it'll take a blasting Power Play, a BIG partnership among top 3 and one BIG hundred by someone. Setting up total is easier - you score 3-4 blasting 60-70, you can post 350 ish target, chasing needs partnership and one master innings. IND team had 3 such batsmen who can score 150 while chasing - now two............

Listening to Manjrekar on commentary makes my ears bleed. I'd prefer listening to Tendulkar waste a lot of words to say nothing of note.

Calculation went above your head - pull your brain a little up from knees.
if they win today, then almost certainly NZ

They? You are talking about India right?

Only happening if Pakiatan are losing to Bangladesh. Bangladesh might be better than Pakistan but not certain to win.

Since this DRS has arrived. Quality of umpiring has slumped even more. Yesterday there were three outs at least missed by umpires in Pak innings. And today one in English innings. I miss the days of Simon taufel

Soft Poms. If only this was a high pressure game for England.

Man India legit treating this like a charity match look at that atrocious Kit it looks like something indian women’s volleyball team would wear

Fair play from Bairstow. He had a pop at the media this week but he backed with words with runs with the bat.

Not really...he moaned about the fact they didnt have flat pitches which suited him...

He hasn't proved anyone wrong by scoring a century on a tailor made pitch for him...

All that Kulcha hype.. getting eaten up easily here. Navala by navala.

Bowlers getting dispatched easily

Bhuvi should’ve played as the third seamer if he was fit. England did the right thing by dropping a spinner.

Pretty disgusted by this Indian performance. Can't wait until England play India in the finals or semis and we see a completely different bowling performance.

Looks like the orange and blue jersey is playing a role in India getting smacked. England loving the view of bright orange colour :afridi

We all thought Pandya would be taken apart. He has decent figures. The Indian spinners have been taken apart.

Would've looked worse if he flopped on the flat pitch he wanted.

Would they have performed the same on a spinning track?

Or a green tinged pitch?

I believe so. The notion that they are just FTBs is a simplistic argument. They are #1 for nothing and that quality would have shined through at some point. They just needed a challenging situation to spark them. I believe they got too comfortable against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

This was just about the toss. It was obvious
Whoever won toss would be 80% fave to win this game.
Best pitch of tournament flat highway. This is just luck of draw. I actually put quite bit of money on England once they won toss. But would have been India if they won toss....

Dude good spinners have gone fror runs. Even ranji trophy team in afirst class scored 111 runs in 16 overs of Warne

No swing, no spin, nothing in for bowling. It's gonna be a good match when India bats.

But first india need to restrict england. As even if its a great batting deck. If the total is too big for eg more than 350 then will be hard for india. As chasing in WC game not easy

They are not #1 anymore. Today India is #1

england will win with a big margin today. writting on the wall.
if india brings back shami and took couple of quick wickets then maybe.

I thought you were trolling, but I can see you are genuinely dumb. This is the equation - read it carefully

I predicted, few days back -

1 AUS 16 points (1 loss)
2 IND 15 points (1 loss, 1 wash out)
3 ENG 12 points
4 NZ 11 points, despite losing last 2 (now 1) and whatever BD, PAK does in remaining 3 games, because their NRR is too good

If Poms win today, they'll be on 10 and 1 game against Kiwis - unless they lose that, even a wash out takes them to 11 and Kiwis to 12 - both has much, much better NRR (To cover that PAK'll need to win inside 12 overs or by 350+ margin, which I don't think they are that ******** to do).

Only slim chance that PAK has (if Poms win today) is beating BD, and then expect Kiwis to beat Poms - first one is in their hand though - first let them do that.

India never chasing 350+.

300 maybe but not when it gets to 7 runs an over in a pressure game, that too when English bowlers will get some assistance in the first 10 overs.

The pressure is not on India so it doesn't matter whether they are chasing 300 or 350. They will back their natural game. Which could be decisive in the end.

Will be fun supporting India as a batting unit today. Hope they don't give me a 'Pakistanesque' experience.

Would've looked worse if he flopped on the flat pitch he wanted.

But detractors have slammed England batters abilities to adapt to pitches and situations...Bairstow hasn't proven anything today...the likes of Stokes are still much better overalll...

I like how Kohli backs Kuldeep. He can afford have bad days this is such a road where ball turns ever so slowly. You can swing through the line.

They deserve it for working so hard and reaching number 1 ranking.

Why only england deserve in this WC? You mean other 9 teams didn't work so hard and they don't deserve? Fact is except root no other player can bat on spinning or green track.

Roy and Bairstow got lucky, but they have taken their chances with both hands.

Kudos for that.

England team is better than Pakistan. They don't have Hafeez and Malik in their team .We had four years to groom new players but useles PCB did nothing. We don't have quality spinners.Amir and Wahab were brought in at the last minute.Hasnain and Shaheen are one for the future but it was too early to select them for WC.They need at a couple of season of first class cricket

Even if they score above 350 on this pitch. It will surely be a competitive match. Don't know if they will win but it will be exciting for sure. KL Rahul, Rohit and Kohli if got going then they will win as well

No chance. NZ just has to lose gracefully. Pakistan is not going to "thump" BD. With a huffing and puffing iwn over Afghanistan it is going to be a tough ask.

If eng lose to nz and pak beat bd, pak will go through.

Root is suppose to be their best player of spin but he plays kuldeep in the back foot which is a major no no

Wish Indian batsmen turn up and thrash these guys today. I don't mind losing. But would love to turn up big today. Kohli just has to be in the "chasing mood". He hunted down 336 in 38 overs. So if he is in the zone nothing is impossible.

Eng go crying for flat pitches ind go crying for dustbowls.

When theyr in the final one half of the pitch can be flat & other end spinning one..

It's not a pressure game for India. They are already through to semis.

No one worked harder than England. They completely revamped their ODI team in 2015 and prepared very hard for this moment. They also proved people wrong by winning a series in Australia and New Zealand, when people thought that they can only win.
