England v India | Match 38, World Cup | Edgbaston | 30th June, 2019 | Match Thread

No one worked harder than England. They completely revamped their ODI team in 2015 and prepared very hard for this moment. They also proved people wrong by winning a series in Australia and New Zealand, when people thought that they can only win.
I agree with this.

It would be very unfortunate for them to not go to the semis biases aside.

They have completely changed their LO game.

Would they have performed the same on a spinning track?

Or a green tinged pitch?

On a green pitch any team can struggle. If this was a spinning track no. England are not great on turning tracks, their record will reflect it.

Not looking good for Pakistan. Don't think India can chase anything above 350, and New Zealand aren't likely to pose a threat to England unless they get a green track.

NZ have no incentive to perform against england. Indians throwing this game is a dead rubber and good to seal the fate of the top four - AUS IND NZ ENG

With wickets in hand, 200 after 30 overs should be converted to 400

India needs Wahab Riaz and Starc right now...

Reverse swing is the key.

NZ won't even have to win. But England has to win. THey must bring their A game again on most likely a flat pitch.

Manys Indians have got to 200. Has anyone hit 200 vs India yet? Baristow has an amazing chance today

I thought you were trolling, but I can see you are genuinely dumb. This is the equation - read it carefully

I predicted, few days back -

1 AUS 16 points (1 loss)
2 IND 15 points (1 loss, 1 wash out)
3 ENG 12 points
4 NZ 11 points, despite losing last 2 (now 1) and whatever BD, PAK does in remaining 3 games, because their NRR is too good

If Poms win today, they'll be on 10 and 1 game against Kiwis - unless they lose that, even a wash out takes them to 11 and Kiwis to 12 - both has much, much better NRR (To cover that PAK'll need to win inside 12 overs or by 350+ margin, which I don't think they are that ******** to do).

Only slim chance that PAK has (if Poms win today) is beating BD, and then expect Kiwis to beat Poms - first one is in their hand though - first let them do that.

I misread your post.
if they win today, then almost certainly NZ

thought you meant that if India wins today then NZ them will face in the Semis, obviously that meant Bangladesh will win Pakistan.

No need to be so aggressive about it

We don’t respect the game. We are fools to think we can waddle into the World Cup after playing like minnows for 2 years and go all the way, because everything will fall in place at the right moment.

If ball is reversing Shami is also pretty decent but not sure if it is reversing or gonna reverse

Bumrah has a few overs left. Shami will have some overs with old ball. They can come back.

Yes they can come back to get smashed as well cricket is a team game after all those runs conceded bumrah conceded 10 runs in his comeback over which shows you no matter how good you are if your team isn’t backing you up it will take a toll on you as well

Here’s hoping the deserving one wins the WC.

All teams have played well out of their skins except SA.

Against pakistan 201/4 England after 32 overs. Now Against India 205/1 in 31.2 overs. After so much battering they have come back decently.

A wicket or two at this stage would change the game.

As I write Bairstow is out.

Wicket because of Root

Don't bring Root when there is a platform like that

Bairstow gone, it was on the cards. Wicket already gone tough to bat on

If I was Bairstow I would be ****** off like u were smashing these bowlers for fun what randomly happened terrible way to end his innings

Mich Atherton analyzed how Bairstow targeted the short boundaries from both the ends but Manjerker raised a valid question that why such a pitch with pretty uneven dimensions is being used for such an important game of the WC 19. :lara

Indians have got the sense of the pitch now. Too bad India wasted all the overs of Kuldeep. Against new guys he could have been very handy.

But England will 300+ regardless it’s just gonna be a difference of 20 or 40 more or less so do you think India can chase it ?
