No doubt Anderson will take 2-40 against the minnow and suddenly be the best ODI bowler in the world again  Shahzad and Tremlett do not deserve this lack of opportunity. even Chris Woakes has done more good work in the pyjamas this season than Anderson.

I agree completely. What's the logic behind this? I don't get it  It's almost as bad as :ibutt!

denial I reckon. seems that it's going to take more than two pathetic performances on the biggest stage for the powers-that-be to realise just how bad and burnt-out he really is. I hope he gets tanked again today, because the way the less experienced players are getting held back by him is ridiculous, and we need him fresh for the tests in the summer...and I also hope that England win today of course

there is defs an argument for Anderson becoming a test specialist at some point in the future

two completely awful renditions of the national anthems as usual!

Lets hope so...

The top three is awesome, but England are a batsman light.

A certain respected commentator believes that Joyce should not be able to go 'back' and play for Ireland again :nasser thoughts?

well i gave him the benefit of the doubt when he switched his allegiance to the england team, but now he is back in the ireland setup. Personally if i was ireland, id be peeved off. Are they a last ditch option for him. I think ICC should be more authoritative in this matter like Fifa. In football, which ever team you play for first no matter what age group you represent them in, you stick to that country and pledge your allegiance to them. Joyce should now focus all his abilities in helping the irish exceed, and since he has been in the english setup, he should give them tips/tricks used by a major cricketing nation.

don't see my man at his best very often these days - hopefully his time has come :)

40-ball half century :) been a delight to watch him as usual

I can see England winning this with ease. Time for their batsmen to cash in on some big runs!

Strauss goes for 34 on his 34th birthday. good opening partnership again here. just found this:

Twitter
From AltCricket: "Strauss in ODIs over the last year: 24 innings, 1,235 runs, average 53.69, strike rate 95.58, 3 hundreds and 9 fifties. That's the most runs of any captain and and the most runs of any opener. Yeah, more than Amla, Sachin, Dilshan, etc, etc..."

blimey.

Strauss is a beast.

Oh Kevin...the thing is he could easily be the best player in the world if he wasn't so lazy

decent start to his new opening berth overall, but he needs to start converting in ODIs again.

no he got out to a part-time right arm slowie who opens the batting instead. even better!

Trott is playing very nicely. His ton at current SR of 80-90 would be lovely.

Bell is crawling.

Trouble is, we have no big hitters down the order. Prior maybe but he's a bit rubbish in ODI's.

im sick and tired of seeing the minnows getting cleaned up by the bigger teams in this world cup. come on how many upsets have we seen in this world cup so far NONE.

Thats what neartly cost england the game against india. If you are going to have any chance in the world cup you need 2-3 big hitters down the order.

I suspect the highest score of this world cup will be scored today.

Trottski has just equalled Sir Viv's and KP's joint feat of passing 1000 ODI runs in his first 21 innings.

Don't think i can sit through another 1 sided borefest not a decent game on till saturday! great tournament organisation icc..........

Prior is quality in test cricket, but poor in ODI's. Should've stuck with Davies.
