So I'll be going over to the motherland for a few days in May (most probably from the 1st to the 11th) and since I've never been to England before, I needed help choosing which match to go to.

I'm going to be staying in London so stadiums that are close by would be ideal, although given how small the country (island?) is, I doubt travel would be long either way. Also, since I'll probably be attending with family, do you guys have any tips or tricks to make it an enjoyable experience?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd imagine you'll struggle to get tickets for the oval now so your options are the t20i at Cardiff on the 5th or the ODI at Southampton on the 11th. The trains only just over an hour from London to Southampton or cheaper coaches are available as well. Believe tickets are running low for that game now as well though so I'd get booking soon.

That would be the first ODI, right? Also, does Southampton have one of the nicer stadiums in England?

Any idea what the best seats would be? I personally want to be able to see the players going to and from the dugout.

That's the 2nd ODI. I'm a bit biased given its my local but Southampton's one of the newer grounds so isn't particularly traditional but has good facilities. One of the largest playing surfaces in the country but tends to have pretty good high scoring pitches. Last I checked I think the only seating available now is at the media stand end away from the pavilion unfortunately.

That's okay. Not too concerned if I don't get tickets but still wanted to know about the English cricket grounds. What's the best cricket stadium in England (after Lord's), in your opinion?

The 1st ODI is at The Oval but its sold out last time I checked which is unfortunately. It's a wonderful ground with good stewarding and family environment. The pitch is usually fantastic for cricket in that it provides something for everybody - strokeplayers, fast bowlers (reverse swing and bounce) and spinners.

Ageas Bowl is quite picturesque and as HitWicket says not an unreasonable journey from London.

The other option is the County Ground in Bristol but I'm never been there.

I was at the county ground when Pakistan played England in a T20 match, still remember Asif knocking over KP' stumps and Afridi hitting a huge six out of the ground. It's a nice small ground and not too far once into Bristol.

I was the Ageas Bowl for Pak v Windies semi in the CT. It could still take over 1.5 hrs from London. There is little parking near the ground but it's a very nice ground to watch cricket.

Oval is the best but dont sit too far away or you wont see much esp the top tier of the new big stand.
