HYDERABAD:
Murder of a youth allegedly by restaurateurs of Afghan origin triggered a strong reaction as mobs were seen harassing people running tea and tandoor shops in Hyderabad and other cities of Sindh.

Tensions ran high in Hyderabad on second consecutive day on Wednesday as dozens of men riding motorbikes forced shops of Pashto and Persian speaking people to close in Tower Market area. Similar incidents also happened in Shaheed Benazirabad districts.

Meanwhile, Sindhi nationalist workers took to streets in Larkana, Dadu, Khairpur, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan, Noushehro Feroze and other districts as well, condemning killing of Bilal Kaka, 35, in Hyderabad on July 11.

Kaka was a local office-bearer of Pak Sarzameen Party. In a statement, the PSP condemned the incident but objected to associating Kaka’s killing with any nationality or ethnic group.

According to the FIR, which was registered at Bhitai Nagar police station, Kaka and his four friends were having dinner at Super Salateen Hotel along Hyderabad Bypass and near Wadhu Wah Gate, when an argument sparked with the waiter. The friends approached the owner with the complaint but he allegedly further aggravated the situation which descended into a fight.

Bilal was fatally attacked with iron barbeque skewers. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Liaquat University Hospital. Kaka’s brother Salam Kaka, who is a security guard, has nominated the owner Haji Shah Sawar and four others in the FIR lodged under Sections 302, 324, 147, 148, 149, 337 (H2) and 109 of Pakistan Penal Code.

The police on Wednesday produced Sawar before the judicial magistrate IV who granted his two-day physical remand.

Cops suspended

SSP Hyderabad Amjad Shaikh also suspended seven policemen who were reportedly present near the place of the incident but took no action to prevent the situation from spiraling up.

The SSP has also formed a three-member committee under ASP Hasnain Waris to conduct an inquiry of the response of the local police. The committee will also probe a video being circulated on social media in which the police were seen standing indifferently at the place of the incident. The committee will also supervise investigation of the case in question.

Meanwhile, police sources informed that Kaka had a criminal record. The Bhitai Nagar police station SHO on Wednesday shared details of some 12 FIRs which were lodged against the slain person from 2014 to 2021 at six police stations of Hyderabad, including six at Naseem Nagar police post alone. Four FIRs contains sections of attempt to murder while one concerns exchange of fire with the police.

Call for sanity to prevail

"We condemn the incident of the killing as well as the reaction which has sparked in the province," said Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz President Sanan Qureshi at a press conference in Larkana on Wednesday.

"Great Sindhi nationalist leader GM Syed had relations with iconic Pashtun freedom fighter and nationalist Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan and we have received with open arms the outside people who have come to Sindh."

Qureshi feared that under a conspiracy an ethnic clash was being sparked. He appealed to Sindhis to remain peaceful and not attack the people who have come to their province to earn a living.

Proven traitors of ppp led by wife killer Zardari, who are experts at theft, land grabbing, corruption, money laundering, murdering journalists, political opponents and hiring waderas and their own goons are now permitting and encouraging civil war. There are videos of zardaris chor police allowing murder. Wonder when these criminals will be jailed/hanged, instead of running Sindh.

The people of Sindh are very generous and accommodating in welcoming immigrants and settlers, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said adding, "We Syeds are also immigrants who came to this land from afar and are now its ministers and chief ministers."

Referring to the ploy to give ethnic colour to the murder of a youth in a brawl over food bill at a restaurant he said that criminal elements have no religion, no nationality and no language and they are only considered as enemies of humanity.

Speaking at the Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) on Thursday on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of fiction writer Naseem Kharal, the chief minister condemned the Hyderabad incident in which a man was killed in a brawl with a restaurant staff on which the law has taken its course.

"Responsibility of the incident cannot be put on a specific community as a whole," the chief minister said.

The anniversary programme was organised by Sindh Culture Department which was attended by Naseem Kharal's younger brother and PPP MPA Naeem Kharal, former Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Culture Minister Sardar Shah, renowned playwright Noorul Huda Shah, journalist Ghulam Nabi Mughal and others.

The chief minister said that Sindh is the land of Sufis who spread the message of love, brotherhood and respect beyond social, linguistic, religious and other identities.

He urged all those who have taken the law into their hands, not to disturb the peace of the city and warned them that the government knows how to protect the peace and people of this province.

Police arrest over 25 miscreants

Police have warned people from reacting over rumours being spread on the social media exaggerating about murders, kidnappings and abuse during riot on Super Highway in the Sohrab Goth area.

They have arrested more than two dozen miscreants for causing unrest on Karachi Super Highway.

According to a statement issued by the Karachi police spokesperson, some miscreants and criminal elements gathered at around 3pm on Thursday and blocked the road at the Super Highway near Sohrab Goth.

Upon receiving the information, a police contingent was immediately dispatched to the spot and the situation was brought under control and the traffic was restored.

Could some mod fix the thread title.... This ethnic violence issue has nothing to do with political parties.

Stop blaming political parties for each and everything. It is childish to think that ppp is promoting ethnic violence .

This is a very serious issue, as sindh is about to burnbad due to sindhi-pashtun conflict.

Hoping for all ppers living in sindh be safe.

There are accounts saying that sindhi groups were sropping cars and looking for pashtuns and beating them up. Pashtuns were also doing the same with sindhis. All pashtun shops have been closed in some areas.

Unless they are involved in unlawful activities why does it matter who they consider themselves to be?

ppp actively permitting and encouraging this which is proven by the behaviour of their politicized police.

The sindh nationalist who was killed by an Afghan restaurant owner for not paying his food bill that some claim sparked this was also a ppp supporter and wadera, ppps link, support and partnership with waderas is well known, they have taken Sindh to the brink.

Karachi: Sindh Local Body Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has said that some groups are trying to ignite linguistic violence in Sindh to impact the LG polls, ARY News reported.

Local Body Minister Nasir Hussain Shah addressed a press briefing on Saturday and talked about the recent violence that ignited after Bilal Kaka’s murder in Hyderabad.

He added that linguistic violence was ignited under a conspiracy. Sindh government would not let any murderer go free, he added. The purpose of the conspiracy was to impact the upcoming LG polls in the 16 districts of Sindh.

Shah said that the government would investigate the issue and bring all involved to justice. Some political parties are using criminals for their political gain, he added.

Linguistic violence ignited in the province after a young boy was shot dead in a local restaurant in Hyderabad.

Bilal Kaka died in a billing dispute at a local restaurant in Hyderabad, and three others were injured. The murder incited violence in multiple parts of Sindh including Hyderabad.

On July 14, enraged protesters blocked the Superhighway at Sohrab Goth against the Hyderabad incident.

As per details, the protesters staged a protest demonstration and blocked both the tracks of Superhighway Karachi. The Motorway police blocked the Motorway from Jamali Pull and the traffic coming to Karachi from Hyderabad is being diverted to various routes.

You call sindhis and balochis racists, but you yourself are no different. Your post is just like how an american would say black people are the cause of violence..

You are generalizing. Tribal area pashtuns are pakistanis, plus, Afghanis owe nothing to Pakistan. You guys call them namak harams as if they have betrayed you or they owed you back.
We caused the taliban problem, we supported all their controversial leaders like mullah omar, we even were involved in the recent govt change over there....

After messing with their country, you think Afghanis owe us a favour just because we allowed them to take refuge?

I have seen pakistanis live in west and critisize west, would you call them namak harams?

Pakistanis are funny people. They cry about islamophobia and claim that islamic terrorist dont represent us and we shoulsnt be generalized by their actions. But when it comes to Afghanis, we generalize and bash all of them and freely use the term namak haram against them
