Pakistan batting has been great against opposition in recent times. We have scored 300+ several times and yet failed due to our bowling.

Even 400 isn't enough if bowling is pathetic. So, all eyes on azhar mehmood & his unit if they can defend this par score. Let's see what they have practiced so far and how they come out to defend it.

Will they pick up wickets with new ball?
Will they bowl with scramble seam?

Please Amir Hassan Wahab and fielding step up today
If we don’t get wickets in first 8 overs it’s over

OP's premise is not correct.

On a flat Trent Bridge pitch, you need Bumrah, Cummins, Starc, Kulcha to defend 300.

Bowlers can only do so much.

350 now is a winning score.

On these pitches I feel it's game on for any score above 300 but you need ATLEAST 350 to be safe.

I would say pak just scored the par score. Could be defeated by 46-47 overs tonight.

On this wicket against a team that bat's to 11, this score will be chased down with ease

Agree. Forget the pitch, some of the boundary dimensions are Mickey Mouse sizes. Random chips and hoicks will carry for sixes.

Reason why the game today will be interesting is simply because this is a WC game, and we already saw pressure getting to England in the field.

And whose job is it precisely to develop a bowling plan keeping in view the playing conditions? Don't bowl there if it's too short. You batted on the same pitch. And they will get the same. I am steadfast on the fact that good bowling unit can defend 300 on this ground. And it's still 350.

So, following things happened:

1- Bowled about 10% of yorkers at the death. What are we training in the camps? What is our coach planning with our bowling unit? Too many lengths ball in final ten overs will cost you the match.

2- Dropped catches & missed chances. Slips shouldn't be wide. Need to be extra attacking. Why can't we stick to bowl at one side of wicket and take the extra man out on the other side to catching positions?
Where is our intent? Aggressive captaincy, hello? Buttler & Root had catches go in slip for 4s.

3- Fitness. It's so much important. And we saw against england what it did do. Doubles were converted into singles, instead of the other way around. This alone cost us 10-15 runs. Also, wicket keeper should have been able to catch that slip catch of root. If it were any fit wicket keeper, he would have done so.

4- Asif Ali. He lacks so much energy in the field. I am telling you here, this guy will drop sitters. & will miss field when the pressure is on. He is a hit and miss. Can't have him in the field. He puts in zero contribution in field. Why can't we just send a substitute? Where is our out of the box thinking? The intelligence level has taken a nose dive.

We should be able to defend 300, no matter the ground size. We can't bowl length balls at the death. We can't afford to be unfit.

"Even 300 is a par score if bowling Unit is good enough". Applies to every team not only Pak.

The new ball bowling is cruicial , if you get swing and get two 3 early wickets the par score will come down significantly.

Watch and learn from australia. Also, credit to brilliant captaincy for using his bowlers so effectively

300 in worldcup are more like 330 .Worldcup pressure is immense there is reason england failed to chased 348 against pakistan in wc while in odi series they were chasing it easily.

Starc had two overs left. Fincb brought him earlier than final two which looked obvious. And that made all the difference. Had he hanged him back, windies may still have a chance. So, finch bowled his main bowler while looking for wickets, which sarfraz can never do. And check their bowling. Great bowling at death. Yorkers. They are bowling more of them. Even 290 will be defended because of that.

Yeah, right. 300 is 300. Not more, not less

Srilankan bowling showed today, how it's done. When you bowl good, and when you pick wickets with new ball, any target is defendable.
