He's been outstanding in the 2023 domestic season and is now the leading wicket-taker in PSL 9. He has a promising future in Pakistan's ODIs and T20Is.

Seems like having Cath Dalton as bowling coach at Multan Sultans has helped him in his bowling. Having someone who looks at the simplist and most technical things of bowling does help in the long run.

Has started off well in his first PSL and can only get better with time ahead.

The Test was Jason Roy on a placid track

He has passed round 1 of this Test. Good bowler

Fantastic bowler. I actually watch the PSL just to see Ali and Abbas in action. I honestly think Ali is not far off being a permanent in the Odi and test line up. Has everything. Good lifting off stump lines. Variation of pace and angles but above all a wicket taking brain. Knew exactly what he was doing to Jason Roy today.

Mohammad Ali continues to impress, showing exceptional bowling skills with 3 wickets for only 19 runs in his four-over spell against Quetta Gladiators. This performance adds to his remarkable tally of 13 wickets in total in PSL 9.

Mohammad Ali said during the post-match interview:

"I want to credit first-class cricket for my performance. Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar became legends by playing four-day cricket. Red-ball cricket covers all formats, it is very important."

How on earth such a player never played a single white ball game for Pakistan?

It just shows how poor and pathetic the whole set up is. This happens when there is 0 vision.

Do you think there is space for him in the white ball XI?
I feel like its tough no?

He should have played, we play countless JAMODIs and they never tried this fellow? Almost criminal. But what can you expect from this set clueless set up.

What is also bizarre to me is that at the age of 31 he has only played:

- 40 FC games
- 25 List A games
- 14 T20 games

So he hasn't even been given a proper chance in the domestic set up it seems

His pace in T20's has been better than expected with him maximing out around 141-142. I think if he can maintain around 135 clicks in Tests, he could be a good option but still likely a conditions dependent bowler if its a grassy pitch or in SENA conditions.

Certainly worth another look in Tests on non-flat pitches.

Once he gets taste of Franchise cricket, gets a lot of hype after taking a 3 wicket haul against India and potentially helps winning a T20I match, he also will regress and not perform.. Story of Pakistani cricketers off late.
Get a lot of hype and then just no performance... Shaheen,Rauf, even Babar has not performed as expected against top sides
and overseas matches.

Well he played a test against England last year and was hammered to all parts by Bazball. It’s a huge challenge to play in longer formats

His test debut was not a true reflection of his ability. That was the worst track imaginable for any bowler to debut on. I would be interested to see how he does in Tests on more balanced surfaces. Because he is very smart with his lengths and has some guile which is why he has been so successful in the PSL as well. Also interested to see how he bowls in Lahore which hasn't been as helpful to fast-bowlers as Multan.

Muhammad Ali has been a revelation for Multan in PSL 9.

A very smart signing with great new ball and old ball skills and can bowl in the middle overs as well.

His pace has been mighty impressive consistently bowling 140 - 144 KPH near on 90 MPH.

If he ends up being in the Top 3 wicket takers this PSL I think he ll be on the plane to the Carib for the T20 WC with a place in the squad.

You cant judge a player after 1 test.

Steve waugh and so many others had poor starts so its definitely not a yard stick.

Here is a crazy stat: out of the best bowling figures in PSL 9, Mohammad Ali has starred in 3 of them 🤯

I think he is a brilliant talent and needs to be in the team in place of Haris Rauf.

He looks miles better than Rauf. I have no idea how he has gone under the radar, but he has ability with the new ball which is severely lacking in Pakistan cricket. He moves the ball, can hit the pitch on the right lines, and even though he's not lightning fast, he has bowled well at the death as well with great use of the yorker.

Looks like a very tough competitor as well. I don't have much faith in the selection process, but maybe someone from outside of Pakistan can point the selectors in the right direction and get him in the national set up.

I agree, while Naseem was injured, we lacked another impact new ball bowler. And it exposed us that we had not prepared anyone in case of injury. Mohammad Ali and even Mir Hamza look like they can fill that void in case Naseem needs longer to get fully fit.

Zaman and Rauf find it hard to bowl with the newer ball (although Zaman is improving). But now that Rauf is injured we need someone who is good in the middle and death overs. Zaman, Mohammad Wasim can do that but Mohammad Ali could perhaps fill that void too.

Very impressive, deserves to be in all three formats. He is better than most of the PSL frauds(tapiyas)

He has been sensational in this PSL. Last season we saw great bowling by Ihsanullah for Multan Sultans and in his absence, Mohammad Ali is leading the Sultans' bowling attack superbly.

Gets most of his wickets when he aims at the stumps. Also he isn't giving the batter's much width. Keeping it very tight yet simple is Mohammad Ali.

3 overs for 46 today with no wickets. Went at 15 an over.
His first 5 games he took 13 wickets for 112 runs
Since then he has played 3 games only taken 1 wicket and has been really expensive. I wonder if he has been found out as a bowler

take out hard length and yorkers he is zero of a bowler.

Mohammad Ali has taken 14 wickets in PSL 9 so far, making him the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament. Can he finish as the highest wicket-taker by the end of the tournament?

He gets Mohammad Haris in a very important qualifier against PZ. Can he do any further damage?

A pitch map of all of Mohammad Ali's balls is in this PSL. Mostly length and hitting the sumpts. Just what you want on slower pitches.

Shaheen should learn from him, mostly too full he is

Despite being one of the top performers of the Domestic season 2023 and then the second highest wicket taker in PSL 9, he was snubbed for not being selected in the Pakistan squad for the ICC T20I World Cup 2024. But he is unstoppable, in the 1st semi-final of the President's Cup 2024 between SBP and SNGPL. Mohammad Ali has bowled decently for SNGPL, with an economy rate of 4.90 while securing bowling figures of 3/49 in 10 overs

Imagine not selecting your best psl performer but selecting hasebullah.

On what basis does zaman khan make it in the squad over him?

Fast bowler Mohammad Ali named as 15th player for Pakistan Shaheens’ red-ball matches in Darwin

Mohammad Ali will attend Pakistan Shaheens’ camp in Karachi, which will be held from 8-13 July

Pakistan Shaheens will play two four-day matches against Bangladesh A from 19-22 July and 26-29 July

Pakistan Shaheens will also play two 50-over matches besides participating in the nine-team Top End T20 Series from 4-18 August

A superb spell of bowling by this guy in the 2nd inning against Bangladesh A in the 2nd four day game of the Darwin tour.

Took 6 for 63 and kept Bangladesh A batters in check. The potential choice for the 4th pacer for the upcoming Bangladesh test series at home???

Mohammad Ali said while speaking to PCB media:

"The plan from the coaches was to target the good areas. In four-day cricket, you need to be patient to get wickets and continuously target the same area repeatedly, which often requires you to bowl consecutive maiden overs. Only then do you get wickets in four-day cricket.

At the end of the day, I performed well and got wickets, which was beneficial for the team. I'm pleased with that the most.

Usually, my form has always been good, and in this series, you could say I was bowling in good areas but was unlucky. However, I had so much belief in my process and work ethics that I was confident I would succeed in taking wickets.

If we talk about bowling long spells, I think any fast bowler should be robust enough to meet the requirement whenever the team needs them to bowl long spells. And I have always enjoyed long spells. Since I started playing cricket, I have bowled a lot of long spells, so it's nothing new for me."

Pakistan Shaheen's Mohammad Ali is the second top wicket-taker in the 2 Four-Day Match series against Bangladesh A in Darwin

Matches: 2

Wickets: 9

BBI: 6/63

Overs: 73.2

Bowling Economy: 3.09

Bowling Average: 25.22

Fast bowler Mohammad Ali has been recalled for the home test series against Bangladesh after last featuring in the opening two Tests against England in 2022. He took 24 wickets in six first-class matches in the 2022-23 season.

Some good selections made here by the selectors.

Mohammad Ali speaking during a PCB interview:

"Making a comeback to the team is always really tough and challenging. It's obvious that you have to start from scratch again, and you need to perform all over again.”

“It wasn't that hard for me to be dropped from the team because I've faced so many failures and rejections in my life that I accepted it with an open heart. I realized that maybe I wasn't ready for that stage, and that's why I couldn't perform well there, so I got dropped. After that, I treated every match in domestic cricket with the same importance and tried to perform in each one. The results speak for themselves. I got another opportunity, and honestly, there's nothing better or more exciting than that.”

“I was bowling really well during the Darwin tour, but I wasn’t getting the kind of fruitful results I wanted. The first four days went by, and despite bowling well, I just couldn't get wickets."

"I was really frustrated after that. The first innings of the second match went by, and again, the bowling was really good, but was not able to get a wicket. Still, I believed in my process, and the coaches were super supportive; they never let me feel down. Then, in the second innings, I had this crucial spell where I bowled for 24 overs straight. I started with a 10-over spell, but then Kashif, who was bowling with us, got injured. So, I had to take on that extra responsibility."

“I am grateful to coach and mentor Mansoor Amjad, who has guided me every step of the way and helped him correct my bowling action and other aspects.”

“I’d really like to tell all the young players to give their education the same importance as cricket because it can help you a lot in your cricketing career.”

Mohammad Ali's economical and incisive bowling spells, yielding 1/14 in the 1st innings and 2/34 in the 2nd innings, played a pivotal role in Pakistan Shaheens' dominance over Bangladesh A in the 1st Four-Day match at the Islamabad Club, which ended in a draw. With his consistent performances, Mohammad Ali has solidified his reputation as a top-tier seamer in Pakistan's red-ball setup.

Great news for Mohammad Ali as he will be part of Pakistan's playing Xi in the 1st Test against Bangladesh.

He is a very good bowler in helpful conditions pretty sure he will do well in the first test.
That may be true but playing a 31 (+5) year old fast bowler against one of the weakest test opposition in the world is not smart.

This was an ideal opportunity to give a young bowler a chance.

We don’t have any young 4 day bowlers, Sameen Gul is the only bowler who can get played instead of Ali.

This guy has finally struck and he got well-set Shadman who was playing on 93.

Brilliant stuff from ALI.

I will say one thing though. God honest answer.

Pakistan In wc 2024 and wc 2023 missed so many tricks.

I kept telling people Ali is just a better bowler to take and even though I do like amir and I appreciate hasan ali for his past antics,

Ali and abrar were must.

Ali bowls with extreme control and temperament and is just a smarter bowler. Shaheen even in his prime after his initial 3 to 4 over killer inswing mantra always seemed clueless in middle and death overs, Heck he was clueless against left handers which is why Warner and dhawan use to spank him.

Similarly Abrar also does the same, Even on tracks where he isn't getting spin and turn, he's bowling with control.

This is why psl as well as past hype or nepotism shpuld not be used as a metric to judge.

Sometimes you just watch the games, Analyse the techniques and patterns.

Just like usama mir is not > Abrar due to PSL, Shaheen is not > ALi.

Even prime Shaheen is only > Ali as a new ball bowler for the first 3 to 4 overs.

Most prized wicket of the day, Mushfiqur Rahim was caught behind by Rizwan off Ali.

He was playing on 191 but ALi had other plans. Good delivery but I think it is too late now.

Update:

Mohammad Ali has a niggle in his shoulder and he will be bowling anymore on day 3 of the 2nd test match against Bangladesh.

This T20 superstar should stick to the lower-grade PSL only. He can only look good against our third class domestic batsmen.

GOAT? o_O

Should never have been selected since he clearly looks nearly 40 there's no way he's 31.

Can’t bowl, can’t field, can’t bat, can’t even be fit enough to take the field. What a waste of a space is this 37 year old pacer.

He is a good bowler with decent pace and both way movement I seriously don't know why he didn't pick up wickets on a relatively supportive surface.

and u can see the results now.. he hardly took any wicket!
He is just in experience /lack of intelligence and lacks stamina too , wasn’t bowling with same pace in the death overs like he was bowling in his opening spell. But the basic ingredients are there. Needs to build stamina and get a game plan on how to bowl death overs as he isn’t very intelligent bowler.

Why do these guys look unplayable in domestic games but their international bowling is worse than a club level bowler???

Why do these guys look unplayable in domestic games but their international bowling is worse than a club level bowler???
quality of domestic batters is at all time low making even a half decent bowler a world class. M.Ali is a good bowler with all the basic attributes of a quality bowler may be his off the wicket pace is low hence not troubling international batters , but I seriously don’t know why he is not getting success in international cricket may be pure bad luck? His got enough pace , he is deadly accurate and move the ball both ways , pretty much a complete package and almost like 3/4k on average slower version of Naseem Shah in OD and only 2k behind in Test cricket

Mohammad Ali will serve as reserve for 1st Test against England, but continue playing domestic matches to remain match-ready.

Not an intl level pace bowler

The domestic batting must be really woeful if this guy is in continous contention for selection
