Hassan Ali is a rare breed of cricketer who lights up the stadium not just with his incredible bowling but also with his infectious energy.

The Gujranwala-born pacer rose to prominence during the Champions Trophy 2017, claiming 13 wickets and earning the Player of the Tournament award.

Since then, the pacer has seen multiple ups and downs in his career, from claiming a Five-For at Lord's to bowing out of the ICC men's 2023 World Cup in the group stages.

Despite struggling with injuries that sidelined him from international cricket, Hassan has been a regular feature in County cricket, representing Lancashire and Birmingham over the past few years.

Hassan Ali's passion and dedication to improving his skills are truly admirable. While he may be better suited for the longer format, his recent performance in the 2024 county season has been underwhelming, with only three wickets taken in three matches for Warwickshire. Despite his optimism for a comeback, it's hard not to wonder if the PCB management could have handled him differently to maximize his potential as a long-term asset. After all, his ODI career was nothing short of dreamy.

He didn't have the benefit of a height or big swing like Shaheen. Ever since his pace dropped, he became rather ordinary. He still get his movement off pitch when he's in a rhythm and is difficult to face but more often he will get smashed in limited overs.
 
He's quite a likeable guy. What he says about fast bowlers napping in the dressing room makes a lot of sense to me and it made me reconsider my views about that topic

I really miss his CT 2017 version big time. Was a great bowler then still fine now but unfortunately not at that level anymore. Hopefully he gets back in his mojo. Against India he has been generally good.

He wasnt that quick from day one... he was a 130 to 135 kmph bowler and accurate line and length was his key strengths.

But after his comeback from injury Hasan Ali is not the same and might still be struggling with some injuries.
 
Good character and hard worker. Should have never been brought back for WC 2023 though. He is just too pedestrian now.

He must be a big WWE fan seeing his love for celebration styles

I think you have to separate the players from the government. I'm sure many Indian players have dreamt of shushing the Pakistan crowd

To be honest we (fans) want India to visit Pakistan regularly for Test Series. I am sure some of the players also think in the same line. You have the flattest pitches on earth and this can help some of our batsmen to boost their stats (and get back the confidence when it comes to test cricket batting, they have hostile conditions even in home matches!) Plus you have the most harmless bowlers compared to SENA bowlers...
 
Hassan Ali should let everybody know the names of those players who want to come because even if they do want to come, BCCI won't let them come.
 
Hassan Ali in a recent podcast shared following thoughts:

On Test captaincy offer:

"In 2021 I was named as the Test cricketer of the year for Pakistan. And was part of the Test side too. The selector at that time told me that my name was among the top 3 to 4 candidates in the race for the red ball format captaincy. Obviously, I wanted to take on this responsibility as this would be a great source of pride for me. I have been a Test captain of my club for a long time so you never know (on becoming future Test captain)."

Biggest loss for Pakistan cricket and the reason behind failure in CWC 2023:

"The team wasn't as united as they used to be before and it was a reason behind (the poor show) in CWC 2023. And the biggest loss for Pakistan cricket has been constant changes in team management. We have changed some 26 to 27 coaches in the last four years. So this phenomenon has a bearing on the team's performance as in Pakistan cricket the captain alone can't address all the flaws in the team unless you are Imran Khan. So Babar also suffered as a captain because of the abrupt change of coaches and team's direction."
 
Hasan Ali is the original hero of 2017 CT triumph. Let’s never forget that it was on the back of his performances that Pakistan turned things around in that tournament and made it to the final.

It is a travesty that he doesn’t have extreme fitness like a Steyn to keep bowling at that level. But anyway it’s good to see him making a kind of a come back.

Karachi Kings vice-captain Hasan Ali on Tuesday equalled former pacer Wahab Riaz’s record for most wickets in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The four-wicket performance has him join Wahab Riaz at the top of the PSL’s all-time wicket-takers chart.

The two pacers have taken 113 wickets each in the PSL history.

However, the Karachi Kings pacer accomplished the feat in just 83 innings, four fewer innings than Wahab Riaz, who achieved the milestone in 87 innings.

Warwickshire frustrated by Hassan Ali central contract

Warwickshire are seeking clarification from the Pakistan Cricket Board over the availability of pace bowler Hasan Ali.

The 30-year-old was due to play for the Bears from 29 May to the end of the season on an all-formats deal.

But he has been given a central contract by the PCB and is not now expected to be available until the T20 Blast game against Derbyshire on 8 June.

The club understands, though, that he will not be able to play in the County Championship matches against Somerset and Sussex, starting on 22 and 29 June.

He can play five more T20 matches in July but the club want to know if he will be allowed to return for the knockout pahse of the competition, should they progress from their group.

"We believed we had assurances he would not be involved with the Pakistan side this summer. But a change of management at the PCB has meant he's been given a central contract and won't be able to support us throughout the season as expected," said chief executive Stuart Cain.

"It's another example of the challenges clubs face in attracting quality overseas players.

"With the financial incentives associated with franchise cricket around the globe, and the expanded international schedule, it's very hard to find players that will both improve the squad and be available for the majority of the summer."

Warwickshire are also going to be without Australia's Beau Webster for the initial stages of the T20 Blast after he was named in their squad for the World Test Championship final against South Africa and subsequent tour to the West Indies.

"Beau has settled in well at Edgbaston, making a big difference on and off the field, but his performances over the winter for Australia always meant this was a possibility," Cain added.

Warwickshire are next in action on Friday for a Championship game against neighbours Worcestershire at New Road.
