In our latest exclusive interview, former Pakistan pace sensation Abdur Rauf delivers a bombshell assessment of Pakistan cricket's decline. With 695 first-class wickets yet just 8 international caps, Abdur Rauf pulls no punches on PCB's corruption, coaching failures, neglected grassroots, and the death of fast bowling.

Key revelations include:

PCB "Mafia" Culture: Rauf alleges that PCB functions like a closed mafia, where only those with personal connections or loyalty to certain individuals get opportunities. He says, "I haven’t been able to become a part of that mafia."

Neglect of Club Cricket: He highlights a critical issue — no PCB investment in club cricket over the last 20–25 years, blaming this for the decline in raw talent and strong domestic structure.

Shocking Coaching Scandal: Rauf claims many PCB-appointed coaches are “illiterate” and unqualified, yet are in charge of training and education programs, calling it a systemic disaster.

Fast Bowling Crisis: The once-great pace legacy is dying, according to Rauf, who blames the overemphasis on T20 cricket for destroying genuine fast bowling development pathways.

Disregard for Test Cricket: He accuses the board of sidelining Test cricket in favor of shorter formats, stating, "PCB has no priority for Test cricket," resulting in shorter series and underprepared players.

Corrupt Intentions of Chairmen: Rauf boldly claims that PCB chairmen enter office only to make money, describing a cycle where they “make money and leave”, without implementing sustainable change.

Wow MSc and MPhil degrees in Sports Sciences.... this is exactly the kind of qualified coaches Pakistan need who can help you grow through their knowledge not those who get jobs through connections and just say “yes sir” to the bosses.

He seems to be quite a knowledgeable person and someone who should be working in PCB instead of tried and tested failures with no credibility.

My early cricketing days had a very nice flair of Abdur Rauf in it. The 2008 Asia Cup at home, the matches against India and Bangladesh, the wickets of Sehwag and Raina, he surely promised a bright future had he been given enough chances.

This guy was a pretty big deal in domestic cricket. He was a bigger deal than Asif in the domestic circuit. He just didnt get the right training and backing. In any other country, a guy with his height, pace and movement would had been a retiring legend.

It was well known in domestic that this guy can swing it away to the sixth stump.

Yep, there are many guys out there whose career got messed up due to PCB's poor management...

I swear, if there is one cricketer I feel sorry for its this guy.

A massive massive talent that got wasted
True... No doubt here... PCB proved to be a career eater for many players.

That is the sad reality that we are even struggling to develop coaches now.. Forget about Players.
