Excuses when Pakistan beat England this summer?

So apart from the obvious 'It was a FLUKE' type comments, what other excuses can we look forward to after Pakistan beat or draw the test series against England?

- England are going through a transition phase and were not sure who their top batsman are for the middle order

- This is not a full strength England team as Cook / Anderson are too old and should have retired while Stokes has been distracted by off field antics

- England were saving themselves for the tests against India

- The temperature in England has been hotter than normal and has therefore replicated UAE conditions which gave Pakistan an advantage

- 2 test matches series don't count

- Ramadan blessings gave Pakistan at least 50 runs per innings

I can't wait to hear the attempts to discredit their performance just like after the 2-2 test series draw in 2016 and after the CT win in 2017.

- Haris was not supposed to remain injury free throughout the entire series.

- Playing GOAT legend Rahat against mere mortals was unfair.
 
England were expected to win but Pakistan slipped through the radar.

Everything that could possibly have gone right for Pakistan went right. 8 times out of 10 England would beat Pakistan in England.

Pakistan didn’t deserve to win and they are a terrible team. This flash in a pan victory indicates nothing for the future. We are mediocre because there is no batting culture in Pakistan.

Last of all, I wish India a truly deserved victory in July Inshallah. They are the best team in the world across all 3 formats and are led by the GOAT.
 
We got lucky as one of the matches was in London. We're still unproven in playing in unfamiliar conditions like Saturn, Neptune and Jupiter.

Rahat's performance while carrying drinks needs to be scrutinised. He seemed to invigorate all the players each time he came on. They should all undergo drug tests.

I wonder whether the creation of this thread will be used as an excuse when England beats Pakistan.

I'm sure there will be enough wrist slitting and blaming going on if we lose. Every player who hasn't performed will be scrutinised.

I made this thread because on the other hand, if Pakistan win or draw, rather than being given credit I know excuses like the pitch and weather and state of England team will be brought up. This is merely to pre-empt that so that WHEN we win/draw, the excuses will sound all the more ridiculous for having been discussed before.

Most of them will be genuine reasons instead of excuses.
 
Some posters would keep copy pasting the word fluke in every one of their post if Pakistan wins.
 
Imagine if normal cricketing things happen like fielders missing the stumps against us or one of the batsman getting out on a no ball. It would immediately become the main reason for our victory.
 
Innovative idea for getting back at detractors before inevitably things turn sour.

I feel like he took the criticism from his fellow Indians to heart and now he is purposefully anti-Pakistan so that they don't go after him.

No excuses, Pakistan batted competently, fielded very well and the fast bowling was top notch.

England just don't look up for a fight. Maybe a change of coach and skipper is needed.

I support only India. But I like Pakistan seamers a lot. But to be honest, ur performance in tests against SL and IRE were really minnow level(I hope you understand what I mean).

But truly u have a great one day side. You are one of the favourites for the WC.

Coming back to the test team, I reckon the core is building up really well. Good for u.

Haha bro I expected u to be much mature than this. Taking these silly things to heart, lol. I really have lot of things to do. I don't think anyone criticizing me would change my thinking.

But yeah, let the LOI series start, I'll be full of praises for ur seamers..Haha

But yeah I was really impressed by Abbas, Amir and Faheem.
 
England's excuses have been quite funny, the best one is "England were not prepared enough"....while playing at home, with an experienced side, with 3 players playing a 100+ tests, a number of them at Lords...not being prepared enough to play at home haha

In all seriousness, while a clinical display like this wasn’t predicted by anyone, many were expecting the team to be competitive. Despite the young team and recent poor results in tests, we arrived here early and had put in a lot of hard work. And actually the match against ireland was crucial. Particularly the decision from sarfaraz to enforce the follow on which put us under some pressure and required the young guns to step up was a great confidence booster.

In contrast, while some england players were playing county, they didn’t take much time to gel as a team. Fully expected it to be a close match with a pakistan victory if our batting stood up to Anderson and Broad.

I fully agree with this. Root looked clueless and Bayliss has long over stayed his welcome. The new selector looks poor too.

Give Jonny Baistow the captains job and bring in a young coach.

You don't have anything to back up your lie. Pakistan has better away record only against eng in the recent past, everywhere else India have a better record. Better you check the record before writing.
 
Plenty of excuses delivered by the commies on air, particularly around England’s lack of preparation for red ball cricket.

Make no mistake, this is a strong england line up. Cook and Root in the top order, and then Bairstow, Stokes and Butler in the mid-lower order is no joke. Not to mention Anderson and Broad bowling at home in cloudy conditions on a green wicket.

What happened!

Pakistan has performances like that though. Lost against Zimbabwe, Windies, SL. Where they have a brain fade for 5 days at a time.

But over all, if Pak gets its combination right they are a very decent team that can compete with the best.

IMO that Ireland match looked closer than it was. Due to the fear of rain washing time out of the match, Pakistan made ireland follow on. As even a draw would cause Pakistan to lose a lot of points on the rankings table.

Pakistan never makes teams follow on, that is just not in their playbook. Had they batted again they would have batted Ireland out of the game and then bowled them out if the fear of the weather was not there.

Eoin Morgan was a classic last summer in the CT semi final. Such a hillarious guy with his excuses

Pakistan won because they played Sri Lanka here a couple of days ago

Pakistan were used to the bounce of the track

ICC administered these pitches so we didn't really know what to expect.

Tbf they are all genuine excuses (looooool) but it's just that Stokes played an innings of 30 odd without hitting a single boundary and Pakistani batsman made it look like they would have given England a lead of 200 by the end of their 50 overs batting on that track.
 
No excuses. Stop being so defensive and insecure. I don't think anyone would call a Test win as a fluke or lucky as Test wins are hardly those. Pakistan won fair and square and they deserve the win. No need to be overtly dramatic about the situation.

Who’s being dramatic? Have you not noticed a pattern where a lot of Pakistan’s performance against England has had some caveat attached to it, be in the uae destruction or the CT semi final victory.

Even in this match, the commies kept focusing on England’s focus on Whitehall cricket etc. But Pakistan were so clinical in all departments they struggled to pin it on one thing so I feel like less excuses this time, a lot more people accepting we outplayed them.

Why do you care what excuses England are coming up with? Their team lost badly and they are trying to make sense of it. Not every one has to praise the winning team and be rational. If English commentators are making some excuses after their side lost, so be it. There is nothing you can do about it. They would have done the same thing whichever team won this Test, it is not specific to Pakistan. That is why I said, the fans should rejoice the win instead of trying to earn approval from the opponent.

If Pakistan had lost at home against a lower ranked side, I am sure the fans and commies would have reacted the same. Teams do not lose at home that often these days so commentators/fans try to make sense of the loss and they will always react that way.

Morgan last year, Cook in 2016 used the tried and trusted :

"The pitch was like a sub-continent pitch and suited Pakistan".

Well - this was May. Cloudy weather ideal for swing. A greenish wicket. Made to order for Anderson and Broad......oh wait...

If people can call winning an entire tournament a fluke then there is no reason why a test win can't be called a fluke.

Also no offense but you are the only one being dramatic considering this is quite clearly a light hearted thread.

Two of those are actually excuses that would probably be used if Pakistan lost.

ODI cricket is more even compared to tests. Beating a team over 2 innings over 5 days is not easy. There have been instances where underdogs have won a WC. India did in 1983, before the start of the tournament, India would not be even in top 5 contenders to win the WC. So it has happened before and India winning 1983 WC had lesser probability than Pakistan winning 2017 CT.

Well India has a good chance to be fair. Bhuvanesh Kumar is a quality bowler and well supported by Yadav, Shami & others. Their batting is always strong. If India does not win with their existing lot against this England side then they will never win in England.
 
India were looking pretty solid against England last time around, 1-0 up after 2 tests, with Cook who couldn't buy a run and under extreme pressure, and England still ended up winning comfortably 3-1.

England can only get better from their efforts at Lords, and they will not be a pushover for any team, currently not having lost a home series for 4 years. Sri Lanka was the last team to win 1-0 (2 match series in 2014), with the loss at Headingly incidentally.

England will beat Pakistan 99 times out of 100 but it was that one time.
England is now focussed on ODI world cup
Eveything fell in place for Pakistan over 9 days spanning two test matches.
England pitches are undergoing desertification and turning into UAE Pitches
England is Pakistan's bogey team and they let Pakistan win.
England is preparing for India series and are experimenting.It does not matter if they lose to Pakistan
Root fielding at short leg could not get a good view of field setting.
