A few of us have asked who the Pakistani commentator is during the series with Ireland.

He has been quite impressive. His English is very good and he provides a measured and calm analysis of the game.

This is his bio from the Cricket Ireland Website

Faisal Shah

  • A former First-class cricketer and a Level II qualified coach, Shah represented Rawalpindi in First-class and List A cricket. He Spent 10 years playing and coaching cricket in Essex for Loughton Cricket Club, and took up broadcasting in 2014.

It must have been nerve-wracking to make his commentary debut in an international game alongside esteemed commentators like Alan Wilkins in his second language, but he handled it magnificently.

Based on his social media activity it appears he commentates during the English county championship and perhaps Pakistan home women's internationals ( not 100% sure if this is the case)

I'd personally like to see this guy get a shot at more men's games for Pakistan.

Agreed. Looked very composed. Hope he's there for the England series as well.

Finally, somebody who can talk real stuff while commentating. Good to see a guy emerging from the ranks of guys like Waqar Younis or Ramiz Raja or Wasim Akram who has just 1 thing to say and that is " I HAD A CHAT WITH THE BoYS IN THE MORNING".

Hoping to see and listen more of him in the next series against England as well.

My only issue with him is like every other Pakistani commentator, he doesn’t know when to pause. He’ll be finishing off his sentence as the bowler runs in to bowl, it completely ruins the moment if a wickets falls or a 6 gets hit.

He's done some commentary in Pakistan domestic cricket I think. Voice sounds familiar.

Problem is the casual fans want the big names even if they're poor broadcasters.

Him and Sikander Bakht deserve more gigs.

If PCB hires him, he will start singing hymns of Babar Azam, Rizwan and Shaheen as if they have nothing wrong with them. He should be a Pakistan commentator but not on PCB’s payroll

Am I the only one here who doesn't find his commentary anything special than the ordinary we see among Pakistani commentators?

Somehow - his words seem very hollow.

Sikander has spent time with players and knows them well - that's the difference.

I didn't pay much attention to the commentary but Pak Cricket definitely needs to push more names than the usual Ramiz, Wasim, Waqar and Bazid. PSL hasn't really provided any new good Pakistani commentator.
