Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Abbas & Shadab Khan will be fit for the tour of South Africa : Inzamam-ul-Haq

Pakistan Chief Selector speaking to the media:

"Mohamamd Hafeez is an experienced player himself and is also a very understanding player, also Azhar Ali is a senior player and both of them realized that we have to give a chance to some newer players"

"This is a very good way of thinking and its good to see that this kind of thought is developing in our players"

"They are themselves realizing this and there was no pressure on both of them for selection or from the board"

"There is talk of three players [with injuries] at the moment, so let me clarify"

"Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan don't have such an [serious] injury that we would say they are injured" [think he meant serious injury]

"Yes there was a slight strain in Shadab's groin and Fakhar's knee but it wasnt an injury or something for us to worry about"

"So we gave them rest for 4-5 weeks as per doctor's recommendations"

"Now they are at a point that we have called them to the NCA for practice and they look fine from what I have seen today"

"I am being regularly updated about Mohammad Abba's condition from Dubai; We were fearful that he had a serious injury but the doctors have advised him to take 3-5 weeks of rest"

"This means that all the rest period for all of these players will finish before the Test match [start of series]"

"In fact for Fakhar and Shadab, all will be finished [rehab] and they are fine to bat and bowl"

"Mohammad Amir, as everyone knows, is a very talented fast-bowler but since his comeback, he had not got any rest, there was a lot of load on him"

"Amir is definitely a very good bowler and we will consider him..."

Really hope Abbas is fit and wouldn't mind Zam in the Test squad either.

Couldn't care less about shadab.

I have a bad feeling they are rushing these players back in especially Fakhar and Abbas.

He is taking russbish, senior and junior what senior an d junior if On my way! IA mot performing.

Imam should be dropped from the squad completely, looks totally out of nick.

I wonder if anyone in the media asked him for his thoughts on Imam... :13:

Inzamam has done too much damage already in last 2 years to accomodate his nephew and favorites like Shehzad. Pakistan XI does not have a single batsman with a good enough technique, his nephew does'nt even have a club level technique to play short ball. He'll do whatever he can to push Imam down the throat of the team management.

The main responsible for Pakistan's Asia Cup, Aus and NZ tour disasters is Inzamam only. Our batting is the worst in the world and in total disarray

High time PCB Ehsan Mani takes a decision and finds a better person for the chief selector job.

[MENTION=148488]JaanZeb[/MENTION]...Aus and NZ tour disasters?
I take it you're referring to our visit Down Under a few years back?

Interesting, this suggests that leaving Yasir out of the XI is a genuine option against South Africa. Will be a very brave decision given the performances in the UAE but Shadab's batting is far more likely to come in handy and enable us to play 4 seamers.

Makes no difference really. RSA will wallop us silly in their own conditions.

It doesn't matter whichever player you send they are going to lose badly that's a fact.First of all need to get rid of this useless captain who has been riding on that champions trophy win.

To be really frank, Fakhar is not a bad option for SA Tests as he can actually get some quick runs and put pressure back on the bowling but Imam is a bad choice. There will be sustained pace attack from both ends without any respite and then you have Maharaj with his left arm spin. It will not be easy.

But I thought Inzamam was nepotistic and was keeping out Fakhar for his nephew and best friend? Some people have no credibility and even less shame. Next time, don't assume that you know better than the guy being paid lakhs to do the job you wish you had.

Good news, this. Abbas is crucial for that tour and Fakhar might come off as well.

Fakhar won't really attack Steyn and Rabada in South Africa. He's not a complete hack and actually takes his time to get set. So he will need to perfect his defense.

Tailender Shadab will replace Yasir. He is no batsman. I can never forget what batting talent he showed in Asia cup. 23 balls 4 runs. Inzi is a disgrace.

Geezer calm down. Look at his batting in the last 3 tests he played.

He is nepostic and that has been proven many times if not in this case.

Doesn’t matter who plays. 3-0 is a mere formality. I am not even being sarcastic when i say that we should legit consider completely revoking our Test and ODIs status and play only T20 and T10. Its the future. Why to waste time on developing crap players who would rather play the shorter and more lucrative version of the game at the drop of a hat anyways.

Yeah you have credibility for making threads like Sarfraz can play as a captain specialist and how we will beat daylights out of India on UAE pitches...you should be the last person to talk about credibility. Lol

Who has lost credibility here? Is Imam dropped from the squad? If not then we all know how pathetic this decison is and is purely nepotism at its best. The guy has not only failed but looked like a joke against short pitch bowling. Nothing but a minnow basher taking place of another young deserving player. He has failed his best chance on flat roads in home season and you expect him to score on SA bouncy pitches. But Pakistan team is full of nepotism at the moment so nothing surprising.

Agreed 100% with MRSN. Imam is a Minnow basher. Fakhar and Azhar should open with Saad/Usman to slot into middle order.
