KARACHI: In order to address issues of Karachi on an immediate basis, the Federal Law Minister Farogh Naseem on Wednesday hinted at imposing Article 149 in Karachi, ARY News reported.

“Finally the time has come to impose Article 149 (4) and 140 of the constitution in the Karachi for the immediate resolution of its issues, said law minister while talking to ARY News exclusively.

“Article 149 (4) neither speaks for governor rule nor about any emergency. It is an independent article which tells that the federal government has executive authority and according to which it can give directives to any provincial government,” he added.

He said that from the past 11 years the provincial government has ruined Karachi and did nothing except creating water woes, garbage issues for the masses of the megacity.

When asked about who will rule the metropolis after passing of the article, the federal law minister refused to give any details on the matter.

Earlier in the day, the Karachi Strategic Committee led by Law Minister Farogh Naseem gave the governor a briefing on suggestions thus far it has discussed to solve Karachi’s issues, particularly garbage and shortage of water problems.

Mr Ismail also put forward some key suggestions with regard to the issues, sources privy to the meeting said.

It must be noted that PM Khan had constituted a high-powered committee for Karachi issues under the supervision of the Federal Minister for Law, Farogh Naseem, including Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Khusro Bakhtiar, Director General Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and other members.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will also arrive in Karachi on Sept 14 on a daylong visit.

Yeah been listening to news channels today.... it might happen.

Ya Allah please make it happen, and rid Karachi of PPP so that finally Bhutto dies atleast in Karachi.

Karachi’s autonomy (within federal context) is long over due. No one wants to own the city but everyone wants to take benefits from it.

Well done MQM and Farogh Nasim if they can make this happen.

Time to liberate Karachi from PPP and MQM

Ppp yes but MQM, no not really. Come the next ‘free and fair’ elections, MQM will again win the majority of Karachi’s mandate. Its the ‘only’ party that’s indigenous to Karachi and hence owns it.

Give them the resources and authority and Karachi will transform.

That makes a lot of sense and ofcourse democratic. PTI won the most seats in Karachi but give Karachi to thugs MQM. No thanks!

Great news if true, hopefully this allows the government to deliver on its promises to Karachi.

PTI was brought to power by selection. It did not “win” the seats. Election vote count glitch is a well known fact. Army has been active in manipulating Karachi’s politics for far too long.

Facts have actual proofs, do you have them?

MQM are a bunch of crooks and goons. Another gangster outfit in the same mould, albeit on a smaller scale, to the PPP and PMLN.

PPP won’t let Centre gain administrative control of Karachi: Bilawal

PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has vowed that the federal government will not gain administrative control of Karachi.

Speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Thursday afternoon, the MNA said the Centre wants to imprison its political opponents. Running the country isn’t the same as playing a cricket match, he said, asking if people sitting in Islamabad would be running Karachi now.

He was reacting to a statement made by Federal Law Minister Farogh Nasim on the imposition of Article 149 in Karachi. That would extend the federal government’s power to the city.

He said the country’s democratic struggle is rushing towards ruin. Restrictions are being imposed on freedom of expression, he said, adding that the country is in a tough situation.

If you want to run the country and the state, you must follow Bhutto’s laws, said Bilawal. He accused the Centre of trying to steal Sindh’s hospitals despite the law.

The PPP chief said the provinces were going bankrupt because of the Centre’s incompetence. He said his grandfather had brought in an economic revolution in the country.

The PPP will remain a wall in front of undemocratic forces and will not shy away from sacrifices to save the Centre, he said.

He said the federal government must come into its senses and take care of the people. There is a limit to injustice, said Bilawal. The Centre should take its designs on Karachi and go home, he said, adding that the MQM should resign from office.

The PPP will uncover these people and won’t let the government operate, he warned.

Opinion polls show PTI with a solid, unwavering lead in Karachi, no way MQM can win a free and fair election. The election was accurately predicted by these opinion polls, time to let go of the whole "PTI was brought into power by selection" mantra.

True to an extent but the biggest crooks / gangster outfit is the one in the Uniform. The sooner you realise the reality, the better it is. They will keep on replacing the smaller goons with the new ones as long as they are getting their Lions share.

Look at all the ministers in IK’s cabinet, its the sane old faces with a new Label. Why you think that’s the case?

Your knowledge is very limited. I was out and about during elections in Karachi gauging public sentiment, and the kind of support PTI had at every polling booth is reflected in the 14/22 seats they got from Karachi. But sure a know-it-all living in Surrey, England who by his own admission hasn't visited Pakistan in several years knows more than us.

Also PTI was head and shoulders above every other party in all opinion polls in not just Karachi but across the country, but sure "they have been brought to power" by some secret hand.

Just like Indians keep repeating the lie of F-16 shot down hoping that repetition will make it come true, same is the case with folks like you who keep repeating this "establishment sazish" mantra hoping that it becomes an established fact.

Sorry to say but not just you sound immature but your own arguments are pretty limited. And when did I “admit” not being is Pakistan for last 5-6 years? I was there last November and visit frequently.
I also happen to be from District Central, which is/was a strong vote base for MQM. So can say with 100% certainty that PTI had no chance of winning there (but they mysteriously did). I ve seen PTI jalsas near Hyderi and Nazimabad and there were only a few Pathans in there.

Anyway enough of explanation, which isnt really needed. You are obviously free to believe what you like to believe. Next time come up with something intelligent, thats worthy of a discussion. Good luck

Like I said. Every single Karachitte knows what terrorists MQM are except you.

Please stop making things up and blatantly lying. No one falls for it but it exposes your ignorance and stupidity so there’s no advantage gained for you

Are you from Karachi or have ever been there?

My best friends are from Karachi so are some of my extended relatives. Not only that but we have literally Karachi posters here calling you out on your **.

So its fairly easy to know who to believe, dozens of people I know or just one single deluded person.

That happens to be one of the few areas that PTI lost in (NA-255) :yk PTI did not win District Central, it was tied with MQM, with both parties taking away two seats each from the district.

I'll also be interested to know how you so confidently refute opinion polling?

This pic is only showing the results of the rigged elections. What revelation are you trying to make?

And as for the elections: Take the rangers out of the polling booths and no interference, you will see the real results. Like what happened in the Baldiyati elections not too long ago.

Regardless of establishments propaganda like Jinnahpur, Raw agents, MQM Haqiqi, PSP and all the remaining **, MQM is still there! That’s because of its grass root support. Whine as much as you like but the fact remains that its the only party that represents Muhajirs.

Were Rangers conducting the opinion polls as well?

Bhaii jaan , MQM is DONE and Buried without Altaf bhaii . People of Karachi tolerated MQM because of Altaf bhaii's cult like following . MQM without AB is a joke and People of kaarchi are moving on slowly . They still do care about Mahajir causes and will still vote for whomever that raises a voice for their rights but as a political party MQM is not going to be that big anymore.

Also don’t forget the votes were counted by pretty little fairies

You, Syed, Slog all from Karachi are lying. Everyone I know from Karachi is also lying. Only Knight Rider is telling the truth. /s

TBH i don't see PTI winning Karachi next time if they don't deliver for Karachi . They got lucky this time because the situation was tailor made for them . If things do not improve, I see Jamat carrying Karachi next election cycle like they used to before MQM .

Give it a week or so and Knight Rider will soon be gone only to be replaced by someone with similar views and moral compass.

Faisal Vada is a shining example of PTI’s leadership in Karachi. Neither has PTI got any ground level organisation in Khi nor it has any interest in Karachi.

Its just a fake party like PML(Q) with recruits from other established parties (aka Lotacracy). Without Army’s support they wouldn’t even have won any provincial government. To believe otherwise is just naivety.

Acha. What’s happening in a weeks time that will make me disappear?

Lol, feels like having a conversation with kindergarten children.

Nawaz was Zia's puppet, and Bhutto was Ayubs, so yea, fake party's seem to have been all the rage in Pakistan for a long time. So wind your neck in and come with facts, cos the facts are that PTI won, and the dynasty x 2 lost.

I suppose that would make a change from talking to yourself and living in some fantasy world where whatever you say is true

Bhai mere, look closely and you will find the dynastic politicians from PPP and PML in PTI. Jahangir Tareen and Shah Mahmood Qureshi are just 2 examples. As for facts, read my post in thread above and you’ll find them.

Yeah so all Karachi posters, opinion polls and election results are incorrect/lying. There is only one guy out in Surrey, England who has all the knowledge :)))

Sastay nashay se parhaiz karien :sarf2

You keep dodging the opinion poll question, are the polls lying too?

I agree, PTI Karachi is a joke in terms of organisation and leadership right now, I was involved in campaigning (there are some good young leaders though).

PTI won in Karachi based on ideology and Imran Khan's vision, as well as because they wanted to change the status quo. The army had nothing to do with it, you simply need to look at the opinion polling numbers in Karachi to realise this. If anything, the army's presence prevented MQM from repeating the disgusting level of rigging they undertook in 2013.

You keep dodging the opinion poll question, are the polls lying too?

Not dodging anything mere bhai. I did reply to to your Q.above but will repeat my answer.

Yes the opinion polls were made up and here a reason to think why that’s the case:
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-49088653

Its a common knowledge that Pakistani establishment has a complete hold on the national media, so I am bit surprised that you are so convinced by the Media conducted opinion polls?

Media didn't do the opinion polls, nor did the media give them any attention. Roshan Pakistan Polling is independent from any organisation. But yeah, they don't show MQM winning Karachi, so they must be wrong.

Well if you have so much trust in the Roshan Pakistan Poll, then good for you. Its just another tool for opinion forming on news and Media.

I don’t give ANY weight and credibility to these domestic “Polls”.

Pakistani establishment has been doing these theatrics against MQM and Muhajirs for far too long. I ve seen all these antics before in the name of Jinnahpur etc

Stop acting like the spokesperson for all Muhajirs, I am Muhajir too, as are many of the posters here! I don't know a single person who voted for MQM. As you mentioned, you observed things in Nazimabad and Hyderi, which happens to be one of the few areas PTI didn't win from.

Well, as expected no reasonable, tangible and civilised reply can be expected from pti supporters. All you can fo is to shout the ispr propaganda over and over again. I gave you examples with each post and tvat too from independent sources.

Anyway i dont see much point in going round in circles, so no more replies to your revelations.

You say PTI won in Karachi due to the Army but have no backed this up with any facts.

We, Karachites, tell you that we support PTI. As a British Pakistani born in Karachi I tell you that my family and friends all voted for PTI. The same is said by other Karachites here.

Polls were quoted and you dismiss them.

Only conclusion:
You’ve completely lost the plot and are just polluting this thread with conspiracy theories.

I don't think anyone is denying that things in Pakistan aren't perfect, but what you're suggesting about Karachi is absolutely incorrect. Don't understand why you're sources are "independent", while the independent opinion polling agency I referred you to is "ISPR Propaganda". What proof do you have what Roshan Pakistan are army propaganda? They give balanced views, and often criticise the government in their analysis.

It's us who shouldn't engage with you, since your mind is filled with conspiracy theories.

The guy is a joke. Every single poster here is calling him out and his usual reply is 'kiddies' or 'army'.

What’s the joke about:

- Pakistani media directly under Army’s control. As mentioned in the Bbc report?
- Everyone in Pakistan knows about Lifafa journalism. In the past Army via its media mouth piece came up with several allegations against MQM, like Jinnahpur. Later it was admitted to be fake news. So what makes one believe in free and fair Pakistani media?
- MQM won easily in Baldiyati Elections not too long ago, so what miracle has happened in last elections when Rangers took over the polling booths?
- PTI has not done anything AT ALL for Karachi or against the discriminatory quota system in place.
- PTI is full of Lotay from the ranks of PPP and PML.
- Despite all his tall claims Imran Khan and his masters are written off loans from big fishes but increasing inflation and squeeze on normal public.

Which one of that is not True?

As expected, PTI supporters run away when it comes to the crux of the things.

"Anyway i dont see much point in going round in circles, so no more replies to your revelations".

You really are a prized idiot.

So you lot ve no answers to the points raised? Hence beating around the bush.

Typical PTI’s Qom-e-Youth!

We answered your points about Karachi still supporting MQM very clearly. All your other points are off topic, and us answering them would derail the thread. If you want to talk about all that, open a new thread.
