That was awesome! Enjoyed that. Imagine Inzamam-ul-Haq on that show 😂😂

Wow this is so fascinating

Great stuff. Why were they on a tour of US?

I think the Pakistan cricket team was asked by the government to stop in USA on the way way back from West Indies as part of a PR drive

great clip! I had no idea anyone from Pakistan was on a game show like this in the US in the 1950s. I have seen similar clips of shows, it was such an innocent time. I remember one of the great artists of the early 20th century, I can't remember who, was on a similar 1950s US show and no one could recognise him. These days, every famous face is every where.

Great stuff. Why were they on a tour of US?

According to Peter Oborne's brilliant book White On Green, this visit was arranged after Pakistan's 1958 tour of the West Indies as part of President Eisenhower's People to People Program (US-Pakistan Cold War bhai bhai).

They played some exhibition matches against teams mainly consisting of West Indian expats in New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC, and apparently Kardar met Mickey Mantle !

Kardar represented Pakistan wonderfully here, looking self-assured, dapper and charming unlike our village buffoons today.

Kardar was fiercely nationalistic, and pulled off Test victories against every single Test nation in his tenure which was a terrific achievement for a newly formed Test nation. He was arguably our best administrator to date. He challenged the veto power of England and Australia, called for neutral umpiring, and set up departmental cricket. He deserves more recognition.

Wow great clip. So this is the original show on which Would I Lie To You is based :))
