Fast bowlers have some great bowling actions and I love to see nice smooth actions.

For me my favourite bowling action would have to be the Amir pre ban Action and Starc's Action!

I absolutely love both and whenever I'm playing cricket I always use these actions mostly Amir's but I find I generate much more pace with starc's Action. I find it so smooth and even though I jog with the Starc Action I bowl much quicker than with Amir's.

If anyone could tell my why I bowl quicker with Starc's Action that would be great.

So what is your favourite action to watch and use??

My favorite to watch and use is Devendra Bishoo's.

As for pace, I always bowl faster with a Shoaib Akhtar. It's the low arm sling, jump and half-bent arm that generates most of the pace.

Among pacers - Mike Holding, followed by Ian Bishop. I liked Waquar as well for his hopeless run up, but his delivery stride wasn't smooth.

Among spinners, Shane was almost near perfect - he was so smooth that, even being over weight, he could have bowled 50+ tight overs in an innings.

Among lefties, it has to be Wasim & BS Bedi.

Loved Wasim's action. Tried bowling like him too, only it came out like Sohail Tanvir. :misbah

Muhammad Asif.

Had an incredibly languid and flowing action that it was very easy on the eyes! Great to watch!

In the action itself a quick arm, a delayed arm, a long stride with more trunk flexion and a straight front leg have all been identified as being likely to assist the increase in speed.

Starc's delayed arm action allows for a sling-shot sort of release hence the extra pace.

Personal favourite would be either Pattinson (pre-remodelling) or Hazlewood.

Some of my favourites are Young Shoaib, Ali Imran Pasha, Mohammad Zahid, Mohammad Sami.

I don't like Australian actions. They are too robotic and lack fluidity.

Windies are very fluid but their approach to the crease is lame. They don't sprint in like Pakistanis.

Saffers are very good. Donald and Rabada being the best.

Thanks, I was very curious how I bowled so much more quicker with less effort when using Starc's Action.

Mohammad Akram also had a great action. His mechanics were nearly perfect and was effortless. Had a lot of potential as a bowler but the usual politics screwed him over as well like many others.

Amir for sure.

Also Junaid (minus the "chucking"). I run in like him with the initial hop and it honestly gives a nice feel. :junaid

Hazlewood's action along with Steyn's action are also very admirable. As is Trent Boult's.

Lance Klusner and B. Lee has to be for me in the fast bowling department.

Dennis Lillees action was fluid. On topic, his is my favourite along with Wasim and Bond.

The original Ian Bishop action
Dennis Lillee
Richard Hadlee

Amir and Starc's actions are good to watch. I know some people are gonna mention Shane Bond but I find his action hideous for some reason.

My favorites:

Among fast bowlers: Glenn McGrath, Mohammad Asif & Mitchel Johnson.

Among Spinners/Slow Left Arm: Saqlain Mushtaq and Xavier Doherty.

Too many. Waqar, Wasim, Amir, Mitchall Johnson, starc, Brett lee, donald, Rabada, Bishop, They all have smooth bowling action and have an extra mile of pace because of their action.

All time, Wasim,Jimmy,Warne.

Current players,Boult, Amir,Morne Morkel.

Shoaib Akhtar, Amir, Asif, Sami, Anderson, Brett Lee, Boult

Waqar, Bond and Akthar when he's in full rhythm and flow.

Also Ashok Dinda

Loved Shane Bonds action, also when I bowled with his action I could bowl fast but herniated a disc in my back every time I tried his action, no wonder he had so many injurys.

The other action I mastered was Geoff Thompsons, took a while of watching his action to get it just like him, the way he got so side on was his last step before releasing the ball his right leg would cross in behind his left leg like a javelin thrower

Imran Khan. I always try imitating his action but just can't. But from recent times and players I've seen live, I love Dale Steyn's action. I don't understand why more cricketers don't try bowling like him. Mitchell Starc has a lovely action too. Personally, I've modeled my action on his.

Pretty much are my fav..
McGrath , Lee , Lance Klusener , Shaun Pollack , Waseem Akram , Waqar Younus , Starc , Amir , Shane Bond , Nathan Bracken , Gillespie
in Spinners Warne , Saqlain

Shane Warne. Simple, beautiful and the most iconic bowling action. Was hypnotizing to watch.

Mohammad Akram, reminded me of Micheal Holding's action.

Shaun Pollock, Allan Donald, Ambrose, Bishop, W Akram, McGrath, Asif, Steyn and Amir.

Spinners:

Warne, Paul adams (very difficult indeed), Mustaq, Murali and Saqlain

The one i dont like the most was Venkatesh Prasad...

Without even looking at any of the other posts in this thread Shane Bond

Shoaib Akhtar is another and when it comes to spinners I'd say Paul Adams.

Klusener, Heath streak(used to put finger up like out), Paul Adams, Shoaib Akhtar, Shane warne, Debasis mohanty, Courtney Walsh, Shane bond..

All the above had something unique in their actions which I enjoyed..

Favourite fast bowling actions:
-Amir
-Asif
-Jhonson
-Starc
-Zaheer

Spinners:
-Murali
-Bishoo
-Bhaji :harby

As a spinner myself I tried to imitate actions from several players like: Hafeez, Ashwin, Moeen, Jadeja etc.

But after a while of trying different actions I found out that for me personally the action of a right arm :herath works best.

Michael Holding and Allan Donald. Loved Holding's smooth run-up.

Not sure why but I love actions that are kind of stuttery, guys like Saeed Ajmal, Imad Wasim, Shoaib Malik. Aside from those I love Warne's classic walking run up, Junaid Khan and Shoaib Akthar's actions

I always like Sohail tanvirs action found it to be interesting

From spinners I like Shane warne and shahid afridi

Paul Adams

Shane bond, brett lee and j kallis style was useful for me to increase speed. Mohammad zahids action was smooth and amirs pre ban style was also nice.

Klusener, Heath streak(used to put finger up like out), Paul Adams, Shoaib Akhtar, Shane warne, Debasis mohanty, Courtney Walsh, Shane bond..

Add vankatash prasad too. Mohanties action was also unique and arshad khan.

Date Steyn.. My action is pretty similar to steyn as well so yes steyn all the way

My All time favourite is most definitely SHANE BOND.

Runup, Action, Follow through all A*

Others Donald, Shoaib, Zahid, Sami, Lee, Amir 2009-2010, Ali Imran Pasha.

Mohammad Amir 2009-2010.

The high non bowling arm, smooth and beautiful action.

I used to imitate Wasim's, but ended up looking like a hybrid between Stuart Broad and Wasim Akram.

My favourite is Wasim > Waqar

Best bowling actions over the year for me would the following:
- Ambrose
- Bond
- Donald

The best Pakistani bowling action I have seen is that of Aqib Javed. Nice smooth run up to the crease, good jump and a perfect outswingers seam position.

People here mentioning Wasim Akram should note that his action is not the best to copy or imitate. Small runup and practically no jump. If you can run through the crease as fast as he could and also rotate your arm as fast as he could then only this action serves purpose. But those abilities I mentioned is very very rare that is why Wasim was one of his kind.

Michael Holding & then Richard Hadlee -both had smooth run ups & technically perfect actions. Holding just started off from 20-22 yards from the non strikers end & he even didn't have a higher leep at the crease as other fast bowlers did.So smooth & effortless.

So was Richard Hadlee .His head position while delivering the ball was so straight.Had great control over his bowling.

Pacers:

Imran, Waqar, Bond, Anderson and Boult

Spinners:

Warne, Swann and Yasir

Seamers - A Donald, L Kluesner, Dion Nash, Chris lewis
Spinners - Kumble, Warne and Sunil Joshi

Some of my favourites are Young Shoaib, Ali Imran Pasha, Mohammad Zahid, Mohammad Sami.

You were referring to this action ? 1:48 onwards ?

Pakistan: Imran. Waqar. Wasim. Amir. Asif. Sami. Shoaib (for a very brief period before he went all muscle)

Australia: Bruce Reid. Lilley. Michael Whitney. Mc Dermott. Brett Lee

South Africa: Alan Donald. Richard Snell.

Newzealand: Shane Bond. Danny Morrison. Adam Milne. Matt Henry.

West Indies: Michael Holding. Joel Garner

England: Neil Foster. Graham Dillee. Dominic Cork.

Bangladesh: Mustafiz ur Rehman

Gotta be Ambrose would have been one heck of an adrenalin rush facing up to the big fella and seeing him running in with that angry look on his face. Not to mention the almost 3m high release point. Legend!

Allan Donald, smooth as a limpet. A thing of absolute beauty.

Among contemporary cricketers, it's probably Trent Boult.

There was always something mesmeric about AKhtar's brutality, the way he would run in for miles, his explosion at the crease, the whip of his right arm. Tha twas pure spectacle and pure fast bowling.

Two other actions come to mind and they are as beautiful and as elegant as the skills these two guys showed throughout their careers: James Anderson and Muhammad Asif.
