Chalo at least he's no the radar for selection.

Has been neglected for way too long

Hope his domestic score doesn't suffer a nose dive. The guy has played cricket for 15+ years at top level with his technique - now at mid 30s, they have called him to "work" with coaching staff!!!!!!

hahahahhaha shows our domestic set up.

Fawad is 36th on the highest run-scorers' list in QEA this season so far. 314 runs in 7 matches @ 31.4.

Continuous rejections can take a mental toll on anyone... I doubt he would be up for it I fear for his mental state.

Our next test tour is in England. This guy will be a sitting duck. He can only nudge and poke around sl bowling on uae pitches. The Australian bowlers owned him in UAE....

Not sure if coaching staff will be able to change his technique if that is the purpose of this invitation.

Fawad Alam has been in steep decline for the last three years, since he reached his 30th birthday.

Only one century in each of the last three First Class seasons, and averaging just 31.4 this season.

He needs to be discarded in the same dustbin as Salman Butt, classified as

1. Too old AND
2. In decline AND
3. Out of form AND
4. Unselectable

Wish you had the same logical narrative for SALMAN BUTT....But no!!!!!! Butt apparently is some sort of super hero that can magically come center field and produce ATG level innings one after another.

in May everyone will be a sitting duck including people like Haris..

The way Azhar Mahmood has excelled as a coach proves that you dont need to be the best player to be a top quality coach. I want to see the likes of Fawad Alam and Hafeez in the coaching role after retirement

What is Fawad gonna teach? Batting technique? The only thing he can do is be a fielding coach but even then you can't really teach fielding. You either know it or you don't.

People like azhar, Asad and Haris and even sarfi to some extent will be fine because they performed just last year. Fawad will be embarrassingly bad but it's good that his fans see it and then blame it on selectors for not selecting him in his peak years. :inti

Either select him or don't. How much technical work can be done with a 32 year old?

Most of the names you have taken have got International exposure to foreign conditions almost in all playing countries. Fawad will obviously have missed out on quality time he should've had in his progress, would've really been helpful had he been training at NCA as a regular, in 2016 he was the only one to pass the fitness test along with Shan Masood before the England tour began, and guess who didn't make the cut? The guy was really up for it then and has deteriorated at a rate of knots post that point. Since then he has missed out on 1.5 years of valuable experience, not even selected in the squad is just shambles where someone like Babar Azam provided no value whatsoever.

Specially in a middle order crying for a left hander.

Who would have ever thought Azhar Mahmood would be such a fantastic bowling coach?

lol..they didnt play in May. Its a whole another ball game. Ill be surprised if we hold out for long periods. Haris has never played in England and will be badly exposed around the the off stump.

Junaids only wanted Butt for the Australian tour as a one off and not beyond that due to his age, he has repeatedly made this point

He's also said Butt is still the best opener in Pakistan and would be averaging 45+ in this era.

Thankfully, Butt's non-performance in this year's QeA has helped Junaids see sense.

But Junaids doesn't want him in the team not sure why people keep poking his bum over Butt now :)) to begin with he only wanted him for Australia that's it

Ostenibly Junaids didn't want Butt in the team because he was over 30 but if you look at his posts he was passionately making the case for his inclusion by saying things like he Butt is the best opener in Pakistan and if he returned he would have an average matching the likes of Cook, Warner etc. He even went as far as to say that his 50 in one of the rounds was worth a century!

Thankfully he now (implicitly) accepts that none of the above is true and Butt does not in fact deserve a place in the team on merit.

He is getting a bit of stick because he is trying to deny he has made a u-turn. Obviously it's good to see he has seen sense, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be held to account for his earlier pronouncements.

Having followed his posts from day one he wanted Butt just for Australia and not beyond that, he made points with regards to his prowess with the aim of making a case for his selection down under but not beyond that

Then why was he still beating his drum even after the Australia tour?

Unfortunately too late. Feel for Fawad. Robbed of his best cricketing years.

I actually believe he still has a lot to offer.

We have a timid batting line up, which crumbles like anything so often, a phenomena that has been ever so frequent in the last 13-14 months.

Fawad's grit and temperament is a quality which we need so badly, even if he temporarily seems not at his best. Plus, he has the class and fitness to come out of this momentary loss of form.

Which posts has he said he wants him back in the team? he keeps saying he don't want him, so am not sure why people are shoving their own views down his throat

I guess he now fulfills all the requirements to be considered for a selection: over 30, past his peak and currently having an below average outing in the domestics.

To be fair to him Misbah was an important part of our team and he only became a member of the team when he was like 35.

Pakistan need a batsman like Fawad to stay put on a day 5 wicket, we so easily have lost even to minnows in those situations now.

I saw a recent photo of his stance here in pp. it was terrible and more worse than before. I don’t think he will be able to reach the ball with his stance against Anderson

I don't think being called to the NCA is anything his fans should get too excited about. Plenty of players get called up to the NCA every week.
