Veteran batter Fawad Alam has said that he is ready to make One-day internationals (ODI) return if the team management picks him in the limited-overs squad.
The left-hander’s last white-ball outing came against Bangladesh in 2015 where he managed to score just four runs.
The 36-year-old said that he is not considering anything out of the box and just focusing on the task ahead of him.
“First thing, no player can say no to the management,” he said in a lighter note while speaking to media in Karachi. “I’m not thinking anything else at the moment except for the Australia tour. But if the opportunity arrives in ODIs, I’m ready for the challenge.”
“Personally I believe that if something is written in my destiny, I will get it. If it is not there then I can’t,” he added.
He recalled the time when he watched the match from the stands between Pakistan and Australia.
“I watched them play in Pakistan from the stands back in 1998, when they [Australia] last toured,” he said. “It was a fine memory and now I am very excited to play against the same team in my home.”
The Karachi-born cricketer also praised Pakistan all-format captain Babar Azam and start wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan for their consistent performances in all formats.
“We can’t imagine reaching the level of Babar and Rizwan,” Fawad said. “They are performing consistently in all formats for the past couple of years. The chemistry they have, when they are out in the middle, is amazing.”
