His selection is merit based on domestic performances, and compared to some of his peers, he certainly deserved selection. And he deserved it a long time ago.

If you can name a few reasonable replacements with the exception of Iftikhar and Saud Shakeel that derserve a chance (iftikhar should be replacing Azhar Ali), then please let me know.

It is not lack of form, but technical flaws..
He stands so wider of leg stump, that he has difficulty playing those in-swinging launchers from Starc, Cummins, etc. Aussies know his flaws very well, so whenever he comes to bat Cummins deploy Starc.
And its not about Fawad Alam; Had it not been Steve Smith dropped catches we would have lost the series already.. He is the guy who is dropping 5+ catches at crucial times
