Fawad Alam "I have never blamed anybody for the years I lost in international cricket"

Guy is not up to test standard. Should be the last time he ever plays for Pakistan. It would be an absolute disgrace if he is selected again. It was a good story but one series too many.

Great knock by Alam so far. His critics must be so angry right now lol

Rubbish batsman. It is a myth that PCB ruined his career - he would have been history long ago had they didn’t drop him in 2010.

He is not good enough against quality fast bowling. Never was and never will be.

A batsman is known by the way and method of his dismissals.

Another tailender-ish dismissal for Fawad Alam.

I guess time to move on to some other emerging middle order batter like Kamran Ghulam

Not only is his technique like a tailender but he’s also dressed like one. Look at the state of those thigh pads. Dressed like a plucky Sunday league cricketer who has been sent in to face a 90 mph bowler for the first time ever.

:)))

Is that a thigh pad or a leg pad?

This rubbish clown odi career was ended by maxwell out of all people and now hopefully this is a fitting end of his test career against the same opposition. He should stick to producing cringe worth dramas because cricket is clearly beyond a poor night watchmen like him. Tis tailender is eating Saud playing time. As much as Inzimam was an awful selector he was completely right about this poor hack.

The likes of fawad and Azhar are cancer to our team. Moving forward it’s time to get rid of these useless players. Shadab should replace these hopeless uncles. Hasan Ali should become a tik tok dancer because that’s where his talent lies. Clearly it’s not cricket. Zafar gohar should also be given a go and I am sure he won’t be as bad as these uncles at least he can hold a bat and growls which is beyond these uncles.

Rizwan needs to starts acting like a cricketer not a foreign minister too much of this rubbish smiling is of no use and makes a mockery of this competitive sport. Imam up haq has many technical flaws which still exist after being dropped initially. What on earth has he been doing to rectify them?

Coming to Abdullah shafique. As good as a series he had had. One major technical flaws exist in him which is playing away from his body and playing at deliveries which should be left alone. He also has opened his stance in order to avoid getting dismissed via an lbw and being bowled through the gate. The still remains he plays across the line at times and will struggle on pitches where there is something in it for the bowlers. Let’s hope he go away and works on his flaws with Mohammed yousuf. He clearly has some potential.

Our next series is against Sri Lanka I will like to see the following team.

Imam
Abdullah
Saud
Babar
Haider Ali/ kamran Ghulam
Rizwan
Shadab
Nawaz
Zafar
Shaheen
Naseem.

Sh

Terrible performance by him throughout the series on very friendly wickets generally. Time to move on.

Said it before the test began that Saud Shakeel needs to replace this fraud. We wouldn't be in this position if Fawad wasn't so terrible. Pathetic player needs to be sent into retirement.

Need to give him one more series

Form is temporary and class is permanent

Was just going to post this

He deserves one more series and if he doesnt get two 50+ plus scores then you can start thinking about replacing him.

LOL it's just mind boggling this guy still has fans after his shameless performance.
The guy scored at an average of 8 and his fans want him to be selected for another series.

He is the reason Pakistan lost the match and the series.

Calm down lol

Why would you want to replace him if he gets two 50+ scores next series? Unless you have a agenda against him

He is the reason Pakistan lost the series.Had he scored a 50 in this match Pakistan would had been able to save this test.
But he failed as usual he does against top teams.
He averages 10,8 and 27 against top teams.

Nothing against him.. He cant bat against quality fast bowling with that technique.. Aus finished his ODI career, now test career..

He couldnt even score in home ground..

I would blame the pitches, balls and bowlers in domestic who let this lagaanwale batsman avg 50+

Against Aus he cant have a field day..

Honestly who taught this guy how to bat. He is awful. Horrible technique, horrible stance. Australia bullied him throughout the series. Every other batsman at least played one good innings in the series. He couldn’t even do that. Shows you how awful he is.

I think we need to give Saud Shakeel a chance.Fawad averaged less than 10 in this series that is totally unacceptable and should be dropped rightly so.

Your expectations from Fawad Alam who is part of the Pakistan squad for 2 Tests against Sri Lanka

Pathetic to see this joker still in the squad. Third class player.

The way he was exposed against Australia showed that he cannot handle world class fast bowling, so I don’t see any reason to persist with him.

There are a dozen domestic bullies who will score plenty of runs against Sri Lankan bowlers.

He will probably score a hundred in this series, book his place for another year and pretend that he has played a blinder and did a big favor on the nation.

If you want to do a favor on the nation then please retire and make way for a young batsman who can feast against Sri Lanka and can also perform against quality pace.

Series against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh etc. are ideal platforms to blood a new player but we are recycling a failure like Fawad.

Sometimes I wonder where do you keep all this negativity 🤔 how do you keep up with it. Must be dangerous for your heart and health 😀

One of the worst player in the international cricket right now.

Told you he should be persisted with.

If he scores two 50s then he would forever silent his critics

Tanvir Ahmed on Fawad Alam being kept in B category of Central Contracts.

"They have facilitated all of their friends in full capacity. Otherwise, Fawad should have been in A category of red-ball format contracts. He only plays Test format and look at his performance, it's injustice to give him the contract in B category"

Seems content with his place in Pakistan side

If Agha Salman does well on his debut in the 1st Test vs SL, then I am afraid it could be curtains for Fawad (not picked in XI for the series opener)

Time to move on from Fawad, Kamram Ghulam and Saud Shakeel also waiting in the wings.

Struggled against Australia recently - making only 0 9 13 and 11 and that's probably why they have dropped him.

Ridiculous and idiotic decision. Dropping a guy after 2 bad tests despite the fact that he has scored multiple overseas centuries since coming back into the side. This is why Pakistan is not a top side. Top sides don't lose hope in quality players this easily. More than anything I'm in disbelief. Couldn't care less what the armchair critics here think. People who advocate dropping players after a handful of failures don't know anything about cricket anyway.

At the last the sense prevails.
He should have never been selected in the first place.
He is one of the worst batsman the world cricket has ever seen.

He didn't have a single meaningful knock in his whole career.

Despite feeling bad for him, his potential lost career and some good knocks since his come back I personally believe that younger, performing Saud could have been selected over him when he was given a comeback for the sake of Pak test team development going forward. Most teams would have done that. He wasn’t even at his domestic best when he was given a comeback while Saud was outscoring him.

Yes harsh on the player but, even now what has happened os harsh but when you are 35, not tons of international reputation and matches behind you along with an unorthodox stance (I have no issues but, his non selection for years shows that its a thing in Pak cricket and to an extent other parts as well), you give above a 5-6 poor innings most likely is going to be made scapegoat for a lost series.

Australian series was Fawads opportunity to show what he was made off. He failed badly. It's time to move on and invest in players for the future.

Bro come one. As a side you need to have more patience in your players than that. This applies to all players. Whether they are 35 or 25. If someone fails repeatedly after 5-6 tests than you can move on. But dropping someone after two bad tests just isn't fair. You can never develop players with this kind of mentality.

Especially if its someone who has delivered for you in overseas tests, where very few players have.

Fair points and I completely agree with having patience. Thing with Fawad is even if we allow him time, there are not much years left him in either ways. Someone like Abdullah and other young ones you have to give them longer runs as they have roam to develop and grow which will reap rewards going forward. With Fawad there is not much and no other incentive there which young guys offer.

In principle I agree with you, that is why I feel that Saud could have been preferred over Fawad’s comeback when he was outscoring him even at domestic level and have a longer future available for him.

I respect you opinion. But personally, I don't believe that young talent should be given this much importance just because they are young and might one day become reliable performers. Fact is, test matches matter even more now because of the WTC. You need players who are ready to go straight-away. And in this kind of a situation a proven performer like Fawad regaining his form is a better bet than hoping a young player will come into the team and establish himself straight-away. Not to mention, Fawad regaining his form is much more valuable in the short-term, which is exactly what we should be thinking about if we intent on playing the WTC final.

There is always time for long-term planning. But the kind of golden opportunity that Pakistan has right now to make the WTC final is rare and might not come again for a very long time. In such a situation I think you have no choice but to think in the short-term and in the short-term, stability in the test side matters. Your need players you can rely on. Every player goes through dips in form. But if you don't have confidence in them than not only are you demotivating them but you're also setting a dangerous precedent where they [the players] might start walking on eggshells being fearful of their place in the side. This selection philosophy could breed a very negative, defensive mindset. Yesterday it was Shan Masood, today its Fawad, tomorrow it may well be Agha Salman or Saud Shakeel.

Good thing Fawad Alam: a guy who averages 97 against spin in test cricket isn't playing this match. It was definitely a masterstroke dropping him from the side and debut a rookie whose most major experience playing spin was belting spinners on dead-flat QeA Trophy tracks last year.

Not to mention, packing your entire middle-order with right handers when you knew the opposition's main bowler was a left arm spinner.

some of the selections in batting just doesnt make sense

yes fawad you can possibly say struggles against high quality pace but hed murder and has done trundling attacks like sri lanka but here hes dropped aand a newbie with no real fc experiences comes in

azhar ali continues to keep his place and shan masood who made a lot of runs in the county championship is water boy

kamran ghulam still cant get a look in Does his face not fit or what Some of the decisions are really baffling and is why pakistan once again is struggling

Difficult to say how he would have done in this match, but he's a good player of spin and one would have thought it was the sort of surface that suits his batting.

Imam ul Haq is a pointless selection. He offers nothing

Shafique’s novelty factor will run out soon too.

Pakistan can drop either one of these two and force Azhar to open so that they can add Fawad in the middle order to tackle spin

Fawad was shown to be washed up against Australia as he cant handle pace and was badly exposed. He shouldnt even be in test squad vs SL.

Salman Agha is a rubbish replacement, doesnt mean that fawad should be recalled. Yes he plays spin well.

but fawad is on his last legs is he going to improve as player? highly doubtful.

After SL series, pakistan play england and NZ and neither of those sides are going to be stupid enough to feed fawad spin if he was at the crease. just like the Aussies they would have the quicks on.

time to move on and also pakistan need to select right replacement. not some village 3rd X1 standard player.

Bro come one. Be serious here. When was the last time you saw a 22 year old play an innings like the one Abdullah Shafique played here? It's a legit ATG knock in Pakistan's test history and playing this kind of knock speaks volumes about the person who played it. If there is anyone who has earned the long rope, its Shafique.

Fawad has plenty of cricket left in him. One bad series where he was sliced open and gutted by the best bowler in the world is nothing to be ashamed of. It can happen to anyone when they are up against a demon like Cummins. Fawad scored tough runs in tough situations abroad and delivered at home against South Africa too. Barring the series against Australia he made the absolute most of whatever opportunities he got.

No active player in the Pakistan side has had to persevere the kind of constant disappointment that he has had to throughout his life, and still find a way to rise up. If there is anyone whose mental toughness shouldn't be doubted its him.

What's disappointing though is the absolute lack of faith shown by the team management. I mean it beggars belief, really. On one hand, Fawad and Shan get dropped after a couple of awful performances, on the other hand someone like Imran Butt somehow manages to play 6 tests as a specialist fielder despite never doing anything to justify a place in the side.

Australia attack is much better than England in home and away baring in England.

Will he get a chance to play in the final Test?

either him or saud need to play. desperately need a LHB in middle order.

both of them can bowl also, so salman agha is not needed per se

Aussies attack indeed is better. Fawad is on the decline and his never been that great against genuine quicks. He struggled vs england seamers before. England will have done their home work on fawad like Aussies and go after him.

Hes not going to improve technically and with Age he isnt going to get better reflex either. Time to move on.

Fawad should come in He shouldve played all this series tbh and then if he had failed then dump him cos he wouldve failed in several innings if you include the aus series

Its not fair on any of these players to give them a game here ans there but if you were gonna give a newbie like agha give them a chance at least to play at home and for an extended time so he can bed himself in in familiar conditions

Some of the selections in the last test were truly baffling

I will stil pick him ahead of Agha in the second test and is stil twice the batter Agha is however that doesn't mean he should play in future tours depending on which team it is.

Aghas selection was a poor one, whats he done to all of a sudden get ahead of saud shakeel in pecking order. Same with kamran Ghulam who isnt in squad now.

As far as fawad goes he shouldnt even be in squad.

Pakistan had perfect chance to blood saud and kamran in this WTC cycle.

3 tests vs Aus, 2 vs SL, 3 vs Eng and 2 vs NZ.

10 tests to see how they would cope as the next WTC will contain big away tours in SENA.

You telling me in 2023-24 when we tour Aus we should be taking fawad and Azhar in out batting line up?

Fawad and Azhar would be like to number 11s in those conditions in 18 months time.

or should we just blood are new batsmen in SENA and give them tough debuts.

No sense at all in building used in building a strong test batting line up.

Agha shouldnt even be in the squad. I dont see what Saud shakeel cant play. he scored a hundred for the shaheens in SL last year and is a solid left hander, plus longterm should be in the top 6 of the batting line up.

I think 99 percent of the fans would agree with that.Saud Shakeel should bat at 3 and not at number 5 that's we're he normally bats however I don't see Azhar getting dropped.

Fawad Averages 10 vs Eng and 27 vs NZ.

So your going to recall fawad here and then play him in next 2 series are you?

For 1 test here you could easily slot Saud in at number 5, and with time move him to 3 once Azhar is got rid off. Recalling fawad he may score runs vs SL spinners but he will be a sitting duck vs eng and NZ quicks.

Depends how he does in the next test and also depends who they pick as a back up to fawad if it's Agha then il continue to play Fawad. If it's ghullam then that's different.

All im saying is if you pick players give them a good run and a good few failures before dropping them Chopping and changing after a couple of test does no good They dont develop and are left agrieved Fawad shouldve been give this series and if he failed fair enough to drop him for good

If fawad is not in the plans then drop him but there seems to be no planning with this management Strange selection decisions are made squad to squad and test to test and that shouldnt be the case Why is fawad in squad if hes not gonna play? Why is agha leap frogging saud etc

You should pick players with a plan in mind and selectors captaim and coaches should have a vision they share At the moment they seem clueless and everyone is pulling in different directions
