FIFA Rankings: Pakistan (201) - India (100)

After a long time I was checking the Fifa rankings and surprised to see Pakistan at 201. Till few years ago we were around 140ish. India surprisingly now is at 100 they were also around 140ish few years ago.

Seems like India is getting rich dividends of investing in a football league. Pakistan football seems like is dead.

Sports in both countries is not a priority however lately top business houses in India have started to invest in sports and with cable to available in virtually every home now kids are watching and getting inspired by messi/Ronald/lebron/curry etc..

Pakistan was good at hockey squash cricket in 90's but I guess you guys have regressed too much due to all the terrorism you have been facing..

Let's see if India can atleast qualify for the Asian Cup or the rankings are just bogus.

Long long way to go for India but there have been many efforts made in recent times to do something about football. Overall, Indian football needs to appeal to Indian masses. People love watching football, they need to have the same interest in watching football if it is to get big. For that you need glamour, big foreign stars, a quality league and above all competent home grown talent.

No one cares about Hockey, Squash, Kushti or Kabbadi. I mean they are not even mainstream Sports for goodness sake and are never covered by international channels where as sponsors have little interest in them.There is plenty of Footballing talent in Lyari and Baluchistan in particular if some government would have it's priorities right. Nawaz is to involved in Panama and Dawn leaks to even think of other things.
