If Modric and Rakitic get their game going then England might see 4 or 5 go past Pickford

I'm sure I read something similar before the Sweden game from you. Croatia won't be able to deal with the set piece mastery of England and their lack of pace up front means they won't be able to hurt us either. Wolrd cup's coming home and so are Croatia.

Croatia's best win of this tournament against Argentina 3-0. Argentina the only team which played a back 3 but England's is much better. However Croatia enjoyed possession against this formation.
 
That was a tall Croatian wall too - great technique from Trippier.
 
this is a mismatch; Croatia is not that good plus they must be very tired as their last 2 matches went extra time; England should easily win this
 
England can Win 2 WC in 2 years,,, What a time to be Alive as England fan,,, I mean they are hot favorites to win 2019 cricket wc,,,
 
Croatia is happy to be here in semi-final and think they have achieved their goal

Despit le a face only a mother could love - obviously the Sheffield steel and Yorkshire grit of Harry Maguire is contributing to this solid English defence.
 
brilliant free kick from Trippier, who has been England player of the tournament but a keeper of Subasic's quality should've done a bit better. Kane miss may be crucial.
 
Good half of football, both teams not holding back and giving entertainment.

England look very dangerous on the break and set pieces but Croats are playing well too.

The next goal will decide this match imo. If Croats score they will control possession easily and score another. If England score it could 3/4-0.
 
What a free kick from Trippier. He is emerging as a world-class player in his position.

Not to get too greedy here because England played superbly throughout the first half, but Kane really should have made it 2. (Could look like a big miss at the end of the night - I hope not!)

The England defence looks immense, Walker having his best game of the tournament and Maguire a rock again.

If England do what they did against Sweden and get the second goal before the hour mark, they should get over the line, but Croatia pose a lot of danger in the box and can always equalise if it stays 1-nil.
 
Croatia are all over the place, England should have been at least 2 up at half time.

Croatia need more from Modric and Rakitic.

You could say the same about Trippier to be honest. This is going how I predicted so far, Croatia with some nice football in places, but England solid in defence, and with real goal threat up front. I fancy England to get a second goal and kill the game. Only France have the tools to stop England now.
 
Terrible ref. Lovren should have one yellow for sure, maybe two.

Walker gets a yellow for what, picking up the ball?

From Day 1, Walker had been England's weak link, but Southgate kept faith on him.
 
England need to get their foot on the ball, keep possession and patiently work an opening.

No need for these Hollywood balls.

A change of tactics by the Croatian coach of pressing higher uo the field has worked really well.
 
wish Pickford would stop booting it up field, invariably it gets picked up by the Croatian midfield to launch an attack.

They were always going to be the better footballing side and deserve to be level.

England need to hang on here and see what happens in extra time.

I dont fancy England to win on a penalty shootout esp with the opposition keeper.
 
To much long ball tactics from England in the 2nd half which hasn't worked.

Modric pulling the strings in the second half.

England looked like they had really rehearsed their penalties well against Colombia, Modric on the other hand hit two really feeble ones against Russia. England will hold their nerve better I am sure.

Game might not go to Penalties - England doesn't look like to hold on for 30 minutes :(

Croatia has some of the best shooters of the game, but it doesn't work like that in Shoot out.
 
England bossed the first half, but Croatia were all over them like a rash in the second half and to be honest we are lucky to get 30 minutes Extra Time out of it. Still anyone’s game.
 
Including Sir Jordan, ENG has fielded 6 defensive players for 30 minutes, without lead - hope it works.
 
3-5-2 is a hard formation to coach. Asking a hell of a lot from your WBs.
 
England got their heads together a bit in the first half of extra time, but they are still looking tired.

Props to Pickford for a brilliant save there.
 
Pure survival, crucial save from Pickford.

England need to come out in the second half of extra and give it their all. One chance or pens Croats will be happy to finish it.
 
Deserved 2nd goal for Croatia. Been the better side since the first 45 minutes.

Again Walker - if it has to be 3-5-2 (Which is a old formation, introduced by France in 80s, because they had some of the best players for that formation), why not Cahill!!!!
 
FIFA shouldn't have used Turkish referee today - England should feel a little bit of hard done by.
 
OMG - I can see Harry Kane playing today!!!!! MOST undeserving golden boot ever.
 
Referee should have allowed to make it 3-1. It's not coming home then.
 
Croatia are clutch - a small Balkans nation who routinely punch above their weight.
 
England’s best effort but not good enough in the end. Croatia deserved the win based on their performance in the second half onwards and congratulations to them. A pity that we couldn’t have a go at penalties. When Trippier went off (likely with a genuine injury) I knew that we were done.
