You just knew this match would be drab, and drab it is just like Croatia Denmark.

Switzerland is a totally different team in a bad way without Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Anddd Sweden wins it 1-0. Switzerland crash out of the world cup. What a great game. Couldn't take my eyes off the game till the very last minute. I still feel that Switzerland was the better team in the second half and feel a bit sorry for them. Watching Shaqiri just race past the opposition was a sight to behold. Great player.

Would like Rashford and Rose to have started but his team can get the job done. We will play with high intensity so the last half hour or so could be difficult. James being out is a big blow for Colombia.

What's the temperature like? England will have a much better chance if it's not too hot, can see them wilting if it's 25 degrees plus like in yesterday's games.

I think the referee may as well put on an England shirt.

None of the media will talk about Stones kicking Falcao in the head, but they will talk about Colombia playing dirty

The speed they are playing with, it's only possible in an European WC. We might not see such games at Qatar.

And Henderson's head into the opposition player.

Where is England's goalscoring threat from open play ? Heavily reliant on set pieces.

Poor England... hoping for a Colombian victory

Surely you are kidding me...

Watch the entire match and you will see a number of questionable decisions in favour of England and potential cards that were not given.

Biasness here is astonishing. cant believe people accusing England is getting favoured. At best I would say the ref is having a bad game all around, at best. Not sure how anyone can feel Colombia done hard by when they did not show up to play football but just theatrics.

And Colombia or they been a second coming of the 2010 Spain team?

1) Stones kicking Falcao in the head
2) Maguire's dive
3) Ashley Young in ET

England have been playing dirty, hope Colombia shows them who's boss in extra time.

Colombia isn't playing Senegal, they should have known that. FIFA shouldn't have appointed an US Referee today - the simple reason is that this guy in his life time hardly has managed a game of this magnitude in MLS. Should have been an Spanish or Brazilian official who understands both English & Spanish (& has officiated Real/Barca/Vasco/Flamengo/CL/EURO/Copa games)

1-6 so far in tie breakers for Poms. The way they let Colombia to come back in extra time, I don't back them much.

Ospina is much more experienced than Pickford, while Kane has taken 3 penalties so far - he is due one miss, hope not today. I read Henderson to take one - hope he doesn't shame Liverpool, our Captain cool.

Kane to miss his penalty, you heard it here first. From England's hero to zero!

why wasn't that obvious corner given to Columbia? Very poor referee

So far, 2 teams shooting 2nd has won, but record tells over 60% shoot-outs are won by first team; which makes Colombia firm favorite today.

No worries, the swedes will take care of them. No way in hell is england gonna win the world cup.

They were slightly better team today, as Colombia was missing their No. 10; so fair outcome. Don't see ENG passing Sweden in QF - they allowed Tunisia & Colombia to come back from behind; won't get it easy against Swedes, who knocked Holland & Italy out of WC, then advanced at the expense of Germany!!!!!! Swedes somehow plays much better against British teams, may be comfortable with the style, which is very similar to theirs.

Just be thankful it wasn't a Spanish ref. Colombia would have had a red with their attitude.

ENGLAND ARE THROUGHHHHH!!!!

I am sure many PPers here will write "ohhh England going crazy again, thinking they can win world cup...how dare they...so lucky. Lets go Russia lol"

Jesus Christ you got to be kidding me Saj what were all those MMA style moves from the Columbians ? Illegal head butts, rear naked choke holds, pushing and shoving even from their support staff ! I find it horrific that none of their players were sent off, in fact that ref may as well have been Columbia's 12th man. The Columbians did their best to get under England's skin but their strategy backfired, they worked themselves into a shoot ! England won Fair and Square in the end and am glad they broke Columbian hearts and all those who wish them unwell, win or lose from here it don't matter. These bunch of kids have won the hearts of a nation and showed more fight then so called golden generations of the past.

The ref lost control of this game completely and was a joke, how Colombia finished the game with 11 men ill never know. He was constantly missing deliberate gaming and not booking anyone for dissent twice just because it wouldn't look good even if it was blatant and incessant. Perhaps the worst refereeing performance in the tournament. I dont understand colombia's tactics, had they played properly they would have hurt England even without James. Instead they were just intent on making it a scrap fest with no interest in playing football and just arguing and wasting time. Glad they are out and a watershed moment for England winning a PK shootout, expect them to beat Sweden after emerging from this mental test.

We deserved to win as Colombia headbutted our players. No idea why some people in here hate England (and they actually live in England)?

Stones kicked Falcao in the head as well, sure you will say it was "accidental", just like the Mexican player on Neymar, but if a headbutt deserves a red card, so does kicking a players head

Makes no sense. You can accuse teams of the past being overhyped and Golden generation but this team know they are not the best. The media knows it. They acknowledge it and just general relief they overcame their penalty fear.

Colombia played football for about the last 20 mins and first half of extra time. Other than that, their strategy was to rile England up. Not only for the headbutt, but the Colombian player also scuffed up the penalty spot before Kane took it. How can any neutral appreciate sportsmanship like that? Their senior coaching staff was squaring up to Sterling at half time - he has no right to do that during a match.

Yesterday justice was served. The good guys won. Colombia did not come to play football.

Odd mentality when some people live in a country, were educated there, make their living there and raise their children in said country, yet obviously want (and really want) the football team to lose. Perhaps some honest words should be had in bathroom mirrors about what a strange situation that really is, and if it’s healthy.

Anyway, well done England. Looking forward to the QF which will be another close and unpredictable match.

I agree. I support Pakistan in cricket which is understandable but in every sport where Pakistan don't have a major team such as football/rugby etc of course I support England. No idea why some posters here in England don't support their own team.
