Japan vs Poland (Group H) - Volgograd

Senegal vs Colombia (Group H) - Samara

Panama vs Tunisia (Group G) - Saransk

England vs Belgium (Group G) - Kaliningrad

It can't be Penalty, it's Senegal FGS. May be some other day it'll be Penalty & a Red - that defender was last man at a scoring position.

Columbia has disappointed me in the first half. They have so much talent when passing and moving but are playing a long ball game against an XI which is physically strong.

No penalty, on the contrary one of the best tackles you will ever see in a football game.

It was stone cold penalty & a red card - Sanches tackled from behind & he touched the ball, before that he had contact with Mane's feet from behind on a goal scoring position. Mane is an EPL player and he knows exactly what was going to happen - Senegal just needs a draw; he would have been booked for a slight decent and he would have missed next game; could have been sent off here as well in 2nd opportunity. ANy way, Colombia scores from a free kick and most likely Senegal is out.

It's like caught behind in cricket - you need a feather touch to be out.

glad Columbia scored goal; Senegal players were playing very selfish with each other trying to be hero otherwise they would have scored 2 goals by now

Would be Ironic if Japan got yellow/red cards for time wasting and therefore Senegal qualifying instead of them!

Senegal needs to learn how to play as a team; next time good luck

England vs Belgium should be a cracker! Lots of club team mates will be playing against each other today!

I can see England winning this. I wasn't confident in them until I saw the team sheet for Belgium. With that being said England vs Japan could be good. But England vs Colombia would be better.

Need to keep players fresh as we play with a lot of intensity. Also our team isn't set in stone so no harm in trying players in a dead rubber game.

I agree, it's the best decision to keep the legs fresh and give some time to the bench. Plus a lot of these youngsters who have played their part in the qualifying journey will get their chance to represent their country on the grandest stage of them all.

Poisoned chalice - unfortunately ENG will need to lose, while Belgs need to draw only. Southgate has kept his top guns unscathed so that they remain fresh, doesn't lose momentum by playing poorly and don't get hurt/booked. What he has done is put an under strength team, who'll give 100% and if they don't lose after that, fair enough.

France did same against Denmark, while 18 years back France actually put 10 new starters against Holland in EURO 2000, to lose that game, which kept them in better half and at their base, close to French border. That was only lose in a competitive game for that wonderful French team from 1995 to 2002 WC. Similarly, only game between East & West Germany was won by East Germany in 1974, a 1-0 loss helped Germany to avoid Brazil or Netherlands in SF - they took Poland, then Holland in Final, while Dutch beat Brazil 2-0, in what is a soccer epic.

Nothing can be done against this tactics, unless FIFA does what UEFA do for EURO Club tournaments - fresh draw after group stages, where 8 Group winners play 8 runners up, but not from own group - same goes to QF & SF - venues & match dates are fixed, but schedules are flexible to allow possible maximum gap for teams playing group games later.

Interesting insight, I think t's the best way to approach this game and Belgium have done the same here. A draw here though and for both teams it will come down to yellow cards.

I don't I think so - Poms are positive 7 (2-0 & 6-1); Belgs are +6 (3-0 & 5-2). A draw keeps ENG on top.

Belgium 0-0 England at half-time.

Real dull match that both sides probably eager to get out the way.

In football, there's more quality at the club level than internationals.

This has been a pedestrian game with England not being able to sustain possession and work an opening.

Full Time:

England 0-1 Belgium

In case you were wondering.

It finished Panama 1-2 Tunisia in the other match.

My mistake - forgot Tunisia had a goal against ENG. SO, it was on Cards ..... :(

The England-Belgium match should otherwise have been a mouth-watering prospect, but both the teams made sure that we finished the group phase with a bore-fest. Not only because they lost, but in general England looked awful, plain awful. A disappointing lack of attempt, passion and effort on their part. You don´t go into the knock-out stage having played your last group match like this. They got just one chance, and that too was such a clear, clear opportunity that even I would´ve put it to use. That was a goal through and through!
