Islamabad police say gunshots are being fired at their personnel in the capital’s G-11 and G-13 sectors.

“The situation is being monitored,” the police statement says.

Official says awaiting security clearance to let Imran leave IHC

A Dawn.com correspondent from Islamabad has reported that SSP Masood Bangash told the media outside the court that gunshots were being fired from the direction of Mehrabadi, near the capital’s G-11 sector.

He added that “people are getting close”, without specifying whom.

“You tell us, how can we transport Imran Khan [from the Islamabad High Court] in this situation; we are awaiting security clearance,” Bangash added.

Imran’s lawyer claims police demanding ex-PM ‘take responsibility for exiting IHC’ in video statement

PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s lawyer Salman Safdar has said police are demanding that Imran “gives them a video message, in which he should take responsibility for exiting the court in these circumstances”.

Speaking to Dawn.com after firing outside the Islamabad High Court, he said this is such a “strange” claim that Imran Khan has been granted such major relief.

“Why would our workers shoot now? Today is a happy day [for us].

“Now they are telling us they cannot let him out because of the security situation,” he added.

A Dawn.com correspondent present on the site has confirmed that firing was heard at least thrice within the span of 30 minutes outside the Islamabad High Court.

“The firing took place at intervals,” he said. “It is even happening right now. I just heard five gunshots.”

He said snipers were posted at the buildings surrounding the high court.

A Dawn.com correspondent at the Islamabad High Court has reported that the capital’s inspector general of police has reached the court and is currently conferring with PTI Chief Imran Khan.
 
Its obviously some lackeys of the general who are crying because of todays events, much like many of the supporters.

I dont agree with PTI, but PTI is not a terrorist organization. By calling it a terrorist organization you are actually insulting the countrys security sensitivity.

they are fools, no doubt about that. They tried to make a TTP office in Pakistan just like AL qaeda made in Qatar, thats how dumb they are. Imran Khan allowed the TTP person responsible for APS attacks go free.

They are a foolish party, But they arn't a terrorist organization.

IK is attending every court case in person. What is Nawaz doing in London? Why hasn't Zardari, Shahbaz gone to court to answer for their NAB cases? How have they magically been acquitted immediately upon assuming government?

There is a difference between having a legitimate opinion and being deeply badniyat.

When you illegally abduct the chairman of the most popular and biggest political party in the country, the political workers of that party and the citizens of the country will react. Also hundred people have been killed by the government security forces in the last 2 days, that was not PTI's doing.

Did the government security forces abduct those people from their homes and kill them? Or they were asking for trouble? What is the right answer??

On way to Lahore, Imran says Islamabad IG retained him ‘forcibly’ at high court

PTI Chairman Imran Khan, who is on his way to Lahore, has said Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IG) Akbar Nasir tried his best to retain him at the capital’s high court.

“They did not let us leave for three hours, saying that it’s dangerous outside,” the former prime minister said in a video message from a vehicle in which he is travelling to Punjab’s capital.

He added that he told the IG that “we will tell entire Pakistan that you are kidnapping [me], retaining [me] forcibly”.

The PTI chief said the Islamabad police chief let him go under this “pressure”.

Moreover, he continued, “When we came out, the roads were empty. There was no danger of any kind.”

He said he would likely reach Lahore in the next three hours.

He is the leader and his job is to lead.

I dont know how much you know about military history but Generals dont offer themselves to the opposing troops to show how courageous they are.

You are talking about Imran Khan bro - the greatest sportman this country has produced so don't apply the same standards you would on the actual criminals sitting in London.

So it’s an ego thing more than actually following the law as a responsible leader of a party who calls themselves “Terike Insaaf”? He’s unwilling to follow the law and would rather ensure his ‘untouchable leader of the opposition image’ does not take a hit?

What exactly would have happened had he followed the rules and handed himself in like a proper citizen of the nation leading by example? You recon they would kill or harm THE IMRAN KHAN in police custody? No chance of it whatsoever! He’s done jail time before during his rise to power. He knows his importance, value and what it would mean to his opposition if anything serious happens to him in Jail. He didn’t follow the rules stupidly this time and I think it was totally fair that he was whisked away in broad daylight the way he was by those commanders

No, why were they killed? Who is above the law that Arshad Sharifs wife and mother couldn't get a case registered? Zille Shahs murder was pinged on IK and then suddenly he crashed into a car, and he was dad was kidnapped and forced to drop the case. So who are these people. Are you too scared to name them? Do you family owe their rizq to them?
