Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. They are now 71/0 in 14.5 overs

Mominul is a quite a positive batsman. Bangladesh showing Pak how to score in test cricket.

Without Shakib we are Zimbabwe level.

Time for the talents to step up.

First bd need to show themselves,Pak is already better than them in test.

In SC that's debatable.

Anywhere else in the world, Pakistan would beat the living daylight out of us. Pakistan has a pace attack, Bangladesh, our pace attack is as good as that of Ireland- poor as anything.

We are Lucky to win the toss. Good conditions to bat first.

Lanka are a good side in tests. Beat Pakistan. Favourites to win this match too but luckily we won the toss. Nobody wants to face Herath in 4th innings

Herath is beast in 4th innings spinning pitch

Handled him fairly well in the 4th innings chase in Colombo last year. One of the biggest successful chases in SL, IIRC.

Anyways this pitch is FLAT. Need at least 400 otherwise we will be in trouble

Day 1 Session 2
Bangladesh- 185/2 (40.2 overs)
Mominal Haque 70 off 71 balls
Mushfiqur Rahim 21 off 46 balls

Wow Man congrats, Got to be an admin after just 2 months of joining, Must be a record!

Coming the game, Bangladesh are doing it very easily so far, 248-2 with about 36 overs to go. Could score 400 on Day 1 too.

Hahahah thanks man. Much appreciated. I'm over the moon myself.

Yeah i agree. BD going strong so far. Hopefully SL get wickets and make it interesting soon.

Does this Lahiru Kumara guy know how to bowl anything else besides short of a length??

326-2.

Total domination by Bangladesh so far. They should finish the day without losing another wicket and pile on the agony tomorrow.

150 for Mominul

Mushfiq should have got that century...just fall at the end of the day...same old bd batsmen problem of getting out just before the end of day :(

Didn't even know that match would start from today :facepalm

So far, so good. But even today the same old thing has happened. Seniors have scored bulk of the runs. Time for our youngstars to display the same level of application.

Bangladesh should fill their lineup with senior and old players. Our young players r absolutely trash.

No doubt which team will be happier at the end of Day 1. An excellent 175* from Mominul Haque has put the hosts in a very good position. Stumps: Bangladesh 374-4 (90)

Sri Lankan bowlers getting whooped. Herath going at 5 RPO.

Great batting from Mominul Haque.

Liton is a short term solution, by next series Zakir should take the gloves.

Until SRL bats, it’s a dominating position, an hour before Tea, we should reach 600 & after that only one side can win. But, hope we are not all out for 450 before lunch .... boys have scored fast enough to leave enough time to lose it after 374/4 on day 1

Liton Piton, tried tested and failed.

After the tri series failure I have no faith in this team even if they go onto win every bilateral series.

Bangladesh cricket authorities Tuesday sought an explanation from their Sri Lankan curator Gamini de Silva for preparing a slow wicket in Dhaka, where the hosts lost the tri-nation final against Sri Lanka.

The islanders defeated much-fancied Bangladesh by 79 runs on Saturday to win the 50-over tournament, which also involved Zimbabwe.

Bangladesh were bowled out for 142 while chasing 222 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, where they had posted 320-7 in the league phase against the same opponents.

"We wanted to know from Gamini why the wicket behaved like that," said Bangladesh Cricket Board Media Committee Chairman Jalal Yunus.

"It was a wicket of 320 runs. All of sudden it turned out to be a slow wicket. This is a routine explanation, which we can always seek from an employee," he said.

Officials said the slow wicket was contrary to the requirements of home team with experts identifying it as one of the main reasons behind the hosts' debacle in the final.

Former umpire-turned-curator Gamini has been in charge of the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium since 2011.
He was subjected to some harsh criticism for producing slow wickets during the Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 tournament in November.

The ground also came under scrutiny from the International Cricket Council, which rated its outfield as 'poor' after Bangladesh beat Australia in a Test match in August-September.

Need to keep scoring quickly - SRL can come back only if we stop scoring and allow them to stagnate score board. 374 on card, go after the bowling and immediately SRL will go to defensive.

4/34 so far, from 356/2 .... it's a new dawn after all....

what the hurry? why are they bent upon dominating from first ball. BD still doesn't have the players to do it. Give the first hour to bowlers and they will still come up with good score

May be Day 1 was too good...

Momin was a bit unlucky, while Mosaddek needs lot to learn yet - these are T20 generation, 1st hour is their usual total innings duration.

Mosaddek has insane first class average.. looks like he has good potential

He bats at 4 in FC, here they decided to keep Shakib's No. 5 intact with Liton promoted. Plays spin really well, but this time missed Herath's loop.

SRL might be digging own hole here allowing so many singles.

This is probably Mirz's 3rd run out in 20 Test innings!!!

Bangladesh batting unit doesnt perform as a team. just 2 or 3 play well, the other do nothing. Hope the tailenders do better and score some valuable runs

Lunch - need to get all-out by next 15 overs.

Or maybe bat for an entire session, make Lanka toil and when they come to bat post tea they will be fatigued. Also, BD batting 2nd aint reliable

Excellent knock by Bangladesh team. Even a few years back people used to question bangladeshs test status. No more. They are putting up solid performance at home and in time, overseas as well.
Critical time will be how they navigate the crucial period when seniors retire together. Lanka is going through that peroid now. Pak also recently went through it. Yet to happen to bangla but it will. So they should start planning now

In the future Miraz, Mominul, Mosaddek, Litton will have to take charge.

The reason why fans questioned our test status is because they never quite understood the difficulty in developing a cricket team. A sport like football or basketball don't demand nearly as much facilities as cricket does. The issue with cricket is its an extremely dymanic sport. The conditions, the pitch, bowling style all make a big difference. So for an upcoming team it will definitely be difficult.

Want proof? Then one needs to look into the condition of Kenya. Kenya right now isn't even associate level. Their U-19 team doesn't compete well either. Ireland on the other hand has their development stagnant considering their meteoric rise in the late 00s. Ireland beat us in 07 WC and 09 WT20.

Sri Lankan bowlers are being made to toil and their confidence is declining pretty quickly. I suspect Lanka batsmen might find conditions tougher to bat in their innings.

Bangladesh has a good chance here to win.

Sorry, I am going too far ahead. lets go session by session.

Day 2-Session 2
Bangladesh 480/9 (121.5 overs)
Mustafizur Rahman 1 run 3 balls
Mahmudullah 60 runs 105 balls

Need to bring mosaddek on bowling...he should bowl at least 16 over spell now and take 2/3 wkts

Why r we playing with so many spinners in this match? It would've been understandable if their actions were different and unique but that's not the case here. All of them have almost similar bowling action.

Really stupid selection.

This is a super flat pitch with extremely quick outfield. Yes, SL will have to bat last here but I'm expecting them to post a decent total in their first innings. Kushal is already batting with all guns blazing.

Day 2 Session 3
SL trail by 455 runs
58/1
BKG Mendis 18 from 52 balls
DM de silva 40 from 45 balls

It is evident that Mosaddek Posaddek, Liton Piton, Soumya Pumya wont do jack in the present or anytime in the future. The main problem is people in the subcontintent dont want to be athelete even from childhood, they want to be doctors, engineers, lawyers, etc which is the main reason subcontintent sucks when it comes to sports.

Look at NZ, even with fraction of population compared to Ind, Pak, BD, they play so much better cricket. Why? Because even from childhood they play sports.

DMDS is scoring at a quick pace, now Mendis scores back to back boundaires.... The pitch looks like a belter.

Day 2 Session 3
Sri Lanka trail by 357 runs with 9 wickets remaining
156/1
DM De Silva 85 from 96 balls
BKG Mendis 71 runs 125 balls

When Sri Lanka lost their first wicket in the third over of the innings, they must have been fearing the worst. But Kusal Mendis and Dhananjaya de Silva have made the Bangladesh bowlers toil. Mendis unbeaten on 83 and de Silva unbeaten on 104. SL 187-1 trailing by 326

This Dhananjaya dude is a real fighter. I saw him bat well in the Oz series too. He and Kusal Mendis are future Lankan stars.

STUMPS
Day 2: Sri Lanka trail by 326 runs with 9 wickets remaining in the innings
BKG Mendis 83 runs from 152
DM de Silva 104 from 127

We are not going to lose this one, for sure ................... or, is it :(

How is the pitch for this match? MMHS

I dont understand, why didnt BD went with the pitch they used against Eng/Aus?

If SriLanka bats for four more sessions, there is a good chance we will be seeing BD panic in their second innings.. As of now BD is still very much in control despite a great fight back from SL. All BD needs is two new batsman tomorrow morning and they have a chance to get SL bowled out for under 350
