Fitness camp at NCA from Nov 18-25: Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Irfan and Imad Wasim invited

Karachi, 15 November 2019:

A fitness camp will be held at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore from Monday, 18 November, it was announced today.

The eight-day-long camp will run till 25 November under the supervision of PCB Director Medical and Sports Sciences Dr Sohail Saleem.

The following three players have been invited for the camp:

-Mohammad Amir
-Mohammad Irfan
-Imad Wasim

They will arrive at the NCA on 17 November.

Shoaib Malik, Wahab Riaz and Asif Ali have been granted NOCs for the Mzansi Super League in South Africa, while Mohammad Hasnain and Khushdil Shah are representing Pakistan in the ongoing ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Bangladesh.

Shadab Khan (Northern), Fakhar Zaman (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) and Usman Qadir (Central Punjab) are available for selection for their respective sides for the ongoing four-day first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and are exempted from the camp.

Think the fitness of all three must have been alarmingly bad that Misbah has recommended this for them!

An 8 Day Fitness Camp will not make any player fitter. Educate the players on all elements of fitness. Provide them with detailed plans for maintaining their individual fitness. If the players cannot follow through on that plan or show no effort to do so, it will then become clear how much these players are willing to sacrifice to become top professionals. Those who don't will be playing meaningless franchise cricket.

It appears that Irfan in still in Misbah’s plans. He is letting his ego get the better off him, and is unwilling to accept that he made a blunder by selecting him.

A good coach/selector is not stubborn and is quick to accept his mistakes.
