Florida - Stoneman Douglas High School shooting: 17 killed, 14 injured

1) What if the teacher gets mad and now has open access to a firearm?
2) Which teacher will actually confront a shooter that has an assault rifle/weapon?
3) How is it logical to solve a gun problem by bringing more guns into the mix?

Were you honestly expecting this orange buffon to make any sense?
Tbh I'm more surprised at the reaction of aam janta of US of A. It seems as if they have become desensitized to the whole issue and are so much brainwashed by the lobbyists that any solution to this problem in the nearby future looks like a distant possiblity. Amrika is doomed.

The 2nd Amendment lobby has its eyes and ears consciously closed to reason. The thing is, nobody anywhere is saying that an American is forbidden from owning a gun.

Those who want a gun and are competent to have one, that’s fine - why not just make sure the background checks are thorough and that there is a proper permit system? This would just be similar to everywhere else - plenty of French and British people own guns and are fully able to do so, but with no school shootings that happen years later, when the owner has gone off the rails because they are now a little older and more disturbed, and they were already pretty weird in the first place.

America could still have the 2nd Amendment and also have a set of new federal gun laws at the same time. The right to bear arms would always be there. Why not also have pop-up amnesty stalls where you can hand in your old weapons for money, with the raw materials then getting melted down and reused for a less destructive purpose.

Trump of all people would probably agree with all of this, he just does not want to lose the NRA vote in 2020. He needs to be braver.

This guy is a disgrace to law enforcement. Can't believe that he hasn't been charged.

Nothing is going to change until millitary guns like AR 15s are off the streets.

What’s the purpose for these weapons other than shred people as fast as possible. Just ridiculous they have still Not been outlawed.

And Trump will do Nothing as he is in the pockets of the NRA. However people can vote out the local GOP members in the mid terms because they too will refuse to take action.

I agree with Ronald Reagan.

Florida shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz 'etched swastikas into ammunition magazines used in massacre'

The Florida school shooting suspect had etched swastikas onto the ammunition magazines he used during the massacre, police have said.

Nikolas Cruz was armed with 330 rounds of ammunition when he entered Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and began firing at pupils and staff with an assault rifle, according to law enforcement sources.

He left 180 cartridges behind unused when he dropped his weapon and escaped by blending in with fleeing students, unnamed officials told CBS News and CNN.

It is not yet clear why the gunman stopped shooting. Investigators believe his AR-15-style rifle may have jammed as he tried to reload during the 14 February attack, in which 14 pupils and three school employees were killed.

The magazine found inside the firearm was among those inscribed with the Nazi emblem, sources told the two broadcasters.

Mr Cruz, 19, is said to have worn a gas mask as he stalked the school with his firearm and smoke grenades before pulling a fire alarm, prompting students and staff to pour from classrooms into hallways.

Detectives believe he tried to create a sniper’s perch at the Parkland school, where he was a former student. Investigators found 16 rounds had been fired at a third-floor window, but the hurricane-proof class did not shatter.

A staff member at the school told CNN the room looks out onto the school’s car park and outdoor seating area.

Law enforcement officials have said Mr Cruz legally purchased the rifle about a year before the shooting. He was expelled from the school around the same time for a catalogue of disciplinary issues.

The Broward County Sheriff's Office responded to 45 calls about Mr Cruz or his brother between 2008 and 2017, records show, prompting accusations that authorities failed to act appropriately over warning signs. The reasons for the calls included “domestic disturbance”, “missing person” and “animal abuse”.

The FBI received at least two reports that Mr Cruz may pose a threat before the shooting. In addition, the agency was warned in September about a possible school shooting threat from a YouTube user with the same name as the suspect.

Mr Cruz has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder.

^^ Was just about to post this!

LOL what the ...

This is ridiculous.

Laura Ingraham of Fox News attacking one of the school shooting victims online I see, how classy.

The far-right have been attacking the victims of this shooting as "crisis actors" and have even sent death threats to their families.

These people are the lowest of the low. They're the same people who still claim to this day that Sandy Hook was a hoax. Can you imagine being that inhumane, that devoid of any human compassion, to ignore the hurt these sick lies cause to the families - that their children didn't actually die ?

Credit to the kids who are mobilising as a result of this appalling yet sadly routine mass shooting and calling for common sense gun safety legislation.

A sad update on this story.

The father of two survivors of February's school shooting in Parkland, Florida, has been shot dead in his convenience store.

CCTV footage shows a man returning to shoot Ayub Ali after robbing his shop in North Lauderdale, Florida.

Two of Mr Ali's four children attended the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School which an ex-student attacked, killing 17 people.
