What's new

For Indian fans: Which one hurts the most? 152/0 by Pakistan or 170/0 by England?

I can tell you most Indian fans I know tell me CT17 still hurts and that nothing will top it.

It’s a win win situation for P.M. makes his money in Pakistan & invests it in U.K

A learning for India after they rejected the decision of not playing Rishabh Pant as opener instead they went for the timid and meek KL Rahul who likes to bash minnows and associate team mostly. :inti

For those who want a straightforward answer on topic and care nothing about anything else, none of these two games hurt. The third test match loss in Cape Town is what hurts the most for me followed by England's 4th inning run chase in the final test when we were of verge of winning the test series with the likes of Pant and Jadeja setting it up nicely for us in the decider. :inti

Rishabh Pant will take a long time to get used to the opening position, at least in the way we expect him to. I think even he has gotten into the mindset of playing carefully. Even if he had suddenly played this tournament as opener, it wouldn't have made much of a difference.

I'd always thought losing to your arch rivals, in some cases bitter enemy would sting more?

England are bum buddies, no?

What was the reason for not taking a single wicket against England if toss was blamed for not taking a single wicket against Pakistan? Nikhil_cric :inti

Toss was the reason Pakistsn dominated India that match in ridiculously biased Dubai conditions. Even a complete dimwit should be able to see that.

This was a thrashing by favourites to win the tournament . England would have beaten India anywhere :mw1

The point is not about being beaten black and blue, the point is India's inability to take a wicket.

Are you saying India couldn't take a single wicket because of the toss against Pakistan? Why couldn't India take a single wicket today?

But you still had to preface with Test victories.

I feel your pain.

:)

T20 losses don't hurt nearly as much as some of the test matches we have lost the past year or so.

But to answer I feel more embarrassed today. The first time it happens you brush it away as a bad day and congratulate the opposition much like 36/9. The second time ,and as devastating as this one was, is troubling and deeply humiliating. We were toyed with today

I don't understand the deflection that says " oh it's a tamasha cup" ..the test match win mattered more etc..

Shouldn't a so called top tier side be gunning for every trophy? Especially if you have these amazing players who can play 360 degree cricket or legends who can chase anything?

You have the world's top t20 league..tons of players to choose from..riches other boards would die for so shouldn't you be wanting to win everything?

We feel like garbage everytime we fail in cups..and we should. But don't give me this tamasha cup nonsense..like jamodi rubbish we used to hear back in the day..

The Decimation in Southern Australia
The Adelaide Chainsaw Massacre
The Silence of Blues
Movie titles for this SF :67:

170/0 should be more demoralizing. It came at a rate of almost 11 runs per over. Also, it was a semi-final.

152/0 was at group stage.

For me 1996 SF loss to SL was most heartbreaking especially after we had both openers out in 1st over I was jumping with you. In teh second innings we lost a heap of wickets suddenly and I can feel the pain even today.

The defeat against Pakistan should hurt more becouse it was un excepted and its against your arch rivals but this performance against England has to go down as one of the most embarrassing performance ever.

Thing is i am glad that we lost so badly. Think of it, it's the second best thing that could have happened today, first of course would have been India winning. By loosing so comprehensively, we can go all out and vent out our frustration online on twitter and cricket forums as well as joke about our performance and our team. The comprehensive loss gave us clarity that our team indeed was pretty pedestrian. Had we lost by say 3 wickets, we would have felt sad and many Indian fans would have posted love poems for Indian cricket team. We would have then blamed the pitch, the conditions etc.

Kambli crying, spectators lighting up the stadium....

With ODi cricket increasingly irrelevant, the T20 WC is a big deal.

I used to just be "meh" about t20 cricket, living in Oz that was the general attitude to it. Just entertainment. We have the BBL but no one really cares about the teams in it or even cricket fans like me don't know which team is which colour. Even if we tune in a bit here and there.

But this WC I have sat down and watched whole games. I actually started to appreciate some of the differences and the way one ball or one wicket in a certain place can have a huge significance and strategy can change during an over. I almost prefer it to ODI now, where the game just meanders for 25 dull middle overs. (Test still my #1). I wouldn't mind betting this WC has won plenty of new appreciation for the game here- even though our team didn't do well.

So you've finally given up on KL Rahul...

yes totally agree. and also the WTC finals which we lost on the SIXTH day after coming in from the cold to a opponent who was more at home in eng conditions and battle hardened after playing two tests against the hosts.
I wish our guys had knuckled down to play for a draw in that test onthe 6TH day.
Any ways, going fowd - we need a new coach, a pace based mentality (which i thought the prev coaching setup under sridhar/arun etc was doing) and enuff of these popgun medum pacers.

171/0. Savage level of crushing, the game got over in 16 overs while the 151/0 was lost in the 19th overs.

The defeat to Pak would hurt more. It's like I would much rather lose to England then India to the final.

Personally, neither. Have never cared much for T20 cricket. Chennai Test in 99’ hurt me the most. In fact it still does.

Both defeats will hurt us for long time...

Becoz one opens doors for other...
152-0 was most humiliating,as it was against archi rivals...
Now every team will try to chase and target our bowling...becoz these defeats showed how weak we are as a bowling unit..

The loss against Pakistan in CT 17 final hurt more than either of these to be fair. 2014 T20 World Cup final was the worst though. Yuvraj gifted that game on a platter.
