So far Aussie players of Islamabad United have refused to come to Pakistan in case they reach to final this is what I read in news. Now that Quetta has qualified for the final what do you guys think which of the foreign players will agree to play in Lahore? Tough decision to make?:kp

Quetta has already lost Mahmudullah due to national duty.

Will they lose any of the following due to the final being in Lahore?

Kevin Pietersen

Obviously. They'll lose probably all of them.

A glorified Faysal Bank domestic T20 match coming up.
 
Yeah seems like Sethi's ego is going to cause us to have a glorified Faysal Bank T20

Perera's gone for national duty too. Can't really see any of the others going, maybe McNath.

most likely none of them is coming. Quetta depends so much on Kevin Pietersen, Rilee Rossouw and Tymal Mills. This is like 75% strength of their team which they will most likely lose in final.
 
The incompetence of the PCB never fails - only if Pakistan team can be as consistent as the PCB.
 
Everybody wants easy money from Pakistan but nobody wants to help Pakistan. Man its 1 match under tight security. In and out in a few hours. They are not asking you to go to Aleppo for god sake.

What a horror show this is, I think its confirmed no one likes Pakistan apart from Darren Sammy :91:

Kings: Gayle, Pollard, Bopara, Sangakkara, Mclaren, Jayawardene
United: Watson, Badree, Haddin, Smith, Pooran

Can't see many of these guys agreeing to go to Lahore. :danish

It will be extremely weird for Quetta to pick whole new bunch of players. And that too third or 4th tier International players.

It will be better imo. for them to pick other top Pakistani players and play a final. Don't need useless foreigners. The Big Bash was hit without too many foreigners in the final.

In any case it will look weird.
 
Imagine some low grade foreigner coming into the side for the final and causing QG to lose the match.

Without any foreign players or a recognized broadcaster this final will be epic amateur hour.

International cricket ruled out for another 12 months. Wonderful.
 
Maybe they should let the finalist team pick Pakistanis players from teams that have not qualified. It's much better than seeing some foreign noobs play in the final.

So what is Sethi trying to prove by playing the final in Lahore in the current climate. If you are holding the final in Lahore without the foreigners than logically the whole tournament needs to be in PK next year, otherwise it makes no sense at all.
 
Terrible stuff.

Pakistan is not ready for international cricket, and you took something that really has been a success to now potentially having one of the most disappointing finals in all cricket tournament history, simply to boast your ego.
 
Stupid decision to have final in lahore without any foreign players. Incompetent Sethi and Shaharyar.
 
I am curious why having final in Lahore without international players is a bad thing? Of course there's a risk but if you take out the risk element, is there a bad effect because of that?

The PSL stands on the back of these foreign players otherwise its just another Faysal Bank T20. Its going to be a rubbish final all to appease the egos of the current government who are looking for brownie points to use in the election next year.
 
People forgetting that it's not just qG players.

EVERY team's players will out. I.e. the 2nd team that reaches the final.
 
What a bunch of.....their OK to take the cash but not support Pakistan for one match?, it shows how much they really care...they'll be well looked after and protected..what if it all goes off without a problem? Will be egg on faces for these mercenaries!!

Its not about supporting Pakistan, its about safety and security. End of the day these people have their own families, and God forbid something happen, would it all be worth it just for a game of cricket?

Why should they risk their lives over a silly cricket match just to make you happy?

Its fair enough for them to not want to come to Pakistan.

What people fail to realise is that heavy security will make these foreign players uncomfortable as the thought of being targeted will regularly be at the back of their mind. How do you expect them to play with that state of mind?

Sri Lanka is now considered safe because the Tamil Tigers have been eliminated and hence teams are willing to tour there.

In Pakistan the insurgency is still in operation and the government is failing to take control. They are having to resort to lying about the DHA blast to cover up their own incompetence. I am sorry if I were a foreigner, I would not play in Pakistan no matter how much security I am given.

Stop thinking about this emotionally.

Well, the final will be good for the audience in Lahore and hopefully there are no incidents. I hope next year PSL is held entirely in Pakistan with the level of broadcasting that we've seen in Dubai. PCB needs to successfully transition the PSL model from Dubai to Pakistan and people will watch. Whichever foreign player wants to make $$$ will come. Even big pop icons like Diplo are hosting large concerts in Islamabad and ect so I don't understand why these retired ex-cricketers refuse to play in front of a crowd which is passionate about cricket. PSL belongs in Pakistan.

Its not just the foreigner player issue. Its also now the broadcasting issue. PCB needs to find new broadcasters for this match to take place.

Also the final is the most important match of a tournament. if you are gonna throw that away in order to bring it to a country thats not safe foreigners. Why are you hosting one in the first place?

Isn't the whole point of PSL to convince foreign countries to tour Pakistan? This whole affair seems to have been handled immaturely.
 
Still a far better option to have final in Pakistan.
Who cares about commentators, there were well below par anyway.
Substitute broadcasting company is already setup one week back, so that's a moot point.

Foreign players should be rewarded if they go to Pakistan, it's their decision, nothing wrong in it. So many times, so many players leave such competition for various reasons. It's an issue but not a major one.

Fine. But why PCB insisting that it is way forward for international. Just say, we are playing as we want to...
 
For the 3rd edition Psl needs to move to place like South africa may be to clear all these mess up, no point in doing finals in Lahore if you are not going to do whole 3rd edition in pakistan.
This whole mess is giving a bad name to PSL everyone is opting out !
 
It will be a disgraceful and embarssing end of this wonderful event.... Blockbuster movie with dispointed end.... najam sethi is the culprit

There aren't too many good reasons for taking such a risk as cricketers and a PSL final is definitely not one of them.

And in this case the risk isn't one to take lightly after what has just taken place in the city.
 
Ask yourself this question. If you were a foreigner, would you be willing to risk your life by coming to Pakistan just for a stupid cricket game? No amount of money would convince me to take a trip to a country where terrorist attacks happen frequently. PCB and Pakistanis should forget about cricket returning to Pakistan any time soon. Not happening for the next 40-50 years. Just forget about it.
 
Even if a select a few foreign players show up, it will be a step in the right direction. If everything goes well this year, then next year I'm sure you can convince many others to come to Pakistan for the final.

This may seem like an absurd decision now, but for the future of PSL in Pakistan it is indeed a very brave decision.

I dont think anyone is blaming the players here. Just the egoistic bunch who took this decision.
 
Sri Lankan team was attacked in Lahore but PCB always trying to host an international event in Lahore I don't understand why. It will always be in players mind whatever happened with the Lankan players.

Its unbelievable that even before the recent attack, the last major attack had been the Easter attack also in Lahore
 
Why we need foreign players in PSL?
Instead of wasting money on foreign players PCB should invest money on U-19 players and let them play with 6 strong teams (2 promising players per team in playing eleven) in sporting pitches barring TTFs and oldies.

Foreign players are needed to help nurture the talent. If they are playing aside a youngster they will help him improve his game. Thats why foreign players are needed. Cause they are like coaches who play with you.
 
What differentiates PSL from our domestic competition (Faysal Bank T20) ?

1.) Foreign players
2.) Foreign coaches, foreign staff and the level of professionalism, expertise that comes with that and learning opportunity
3.) Fantastic broadcasting (broadcasting for PSL is wayy better than Home Pakistan games in the UAE)
4.) Foreign commentators

Without those, PSL is NOT PSL! Those are the things PSL needs to compete with the best leagues around the world which it has done so thus far . .

Foreign players don't come to PSL just for they money . . for those who are making millions of dollars playing leagues around the world, 100,000 dollars at the PSL hardly moves the needle! They do this as professionals to play the sport they love, compete and win! Isn't that all of us want to do in wahtever field we find ourselves in? We want to be the best at it and we want to win! And by doing this, you have basically cornered the foreign players and stripped them off the chance to " WIN " despite them working so hard in the last month to get there!

This political point scoring ain't helping anyone . . whether its the government or PTI or Sethi sb's affiliation with N league or IK's hatred against N league . .

I understand the emotional views of the Pakistani public living in Pakistan and I truly empathize! However, let's not jeopardize the PSL brand becuase it's the best thign that has happened to Pakistan cricket and it has potential to be a huge money maker!
 
Najam Sethi already said that they have made arrangement in case current players refuse to visit. They should announce the replacement as soon as possible now.
 
Personally I think it's a disgrace..if anyone will die it will be Pakistanis not foreigners. They would be given the highest level of security. We just hosted upteen heads of states. Foreigners live and work in Pakistan but these guys think their special? Why?

We need help and support from the rest of the world but alas we aren't France or India your true friends. We're just those dodgy Pakistani's. .
 
So all this just for political point scoring by Sethi. When it looks like the Final will be an amateurish knock off of the PSL we love. PCBs insistence on it being Lahore when there have been so many high profile attacks there over the last few years and one only a few weeks ago. But no for PCB and PMLN Lahore Lahore eh sirf. I completely understand why foreign players don't want to go to Pakistan and even going and seeing a ghost town outside the stadium with heavily armed vehicles and guns everywhere will also make you feel one edge as a player that anything could kick off at any moment. In the end this will just serve to enhance Sethi and the PCBs ego who would rather the quality of the PSL suffers but they get praised.
