Forest Hill station stabbing: Knifeman shouted 'I want to kill a Muslim'

A knifeman who reportedly stabbed a rail passenger at a train station in southeast London shouted, "I want to kill a Muslim", according to a witness.

One man was injured in the attack at Forest Hill station at around lunchtime on Monday.

Eyewitnesses described the "horrific" attack and its aftermath on Twitter.

One person wrote: "The perpetrator is currently ranting on the streets. Beware."

Another tweeted: "A massacre in #foresthill station a man shouting who is Muslim i want to kill a muslim stabs several times a Muslim passenger, no reason.

"#foresthill The attacker shouted " Who is Muslim, I want to kill a Muslim approached the guy sitting with his wife on the 1st carriage."

British Transport Police said the incident was not being treated as "terrorism-related".

A spokeswoman said officers were sent to the station after reports of a serious assault at 1.18pm.

"One person has been arrested following the incident and is currently in police custody," she said.

"One man was treated by ambulance staff at the scene and is currently en route to hospital."

I think this is paranoia. It was simply not necessary for them to be demonised. If there was not one single Muslim living in the UK, Afghanistan and Iraq would still have been invaded. Islamophobia built up since then, not before.

Muslim need to do PHD in Islamic studies from renowned international universities so that they are called as guests and experts in such debates on Tv where they can give ream islamic perspective and clear misconceptions. I think we should understand how authorities around the world differentiate Hate crime and Terror attack:

A mass murder incident is usually a terror attack. (exception being the Black Church shooting in Charleston USA)

An attack on minority of the nation in question is considered a hate crime, while an attack on the majority is considered a terror attack. (Mind you, the motivation behind the attacks should be based on cultural, religious identities).

Bombings are always a terror attack because they are meant for indiscriminate killing. but individual attacks solely with the motive of attacking a person belonging to a different groups will classified based on who the majority was. Killing always terrorizes people, if the majority get scared it becomes a terror attack.

If in this instance the attacker turns out to be a member or supporter of an extremist right wing political organisation that wanted Muslims out of the UK, and was motivated by as such, would that still be a hate crime or an act of terrorism in your opinion?

IF not an act of terrorism, then why not?

But either way, should the police have been so quick to rule out it as being an act of terrorism before they'd even caught the attacker and ascertained how/what motivated him to want to kill Muslims?
