Fortune Barishal (195/7) defend their title, crowned BPL 2025 champions with a 3-wicket win over Chittagong Kings (194/3)

BD sports analysts are also dumb. This guy made a video about how great Nurul Hasan is as a captain of Rangpur Riders after he won like 8 straight games. Rangpur then lost 5 straight and crashed out of the tournament. 😂

Bus Driver Locks Players' Kits Over Non-Payment, Epic Drama Unfolds In Bangladesh T20 League

Bangladesh Premier League franchise Durbar Rajshahi has become the latest talking point in the world of cricket. A report has revealed that the franchise is yet to pay the fees of its foreign players and staff members. Rajshahi owner Shafiq Rahman, earlier, announced that the tickets have been booked for the foreign cricketers to return to their respective countries. However, due to the failure in the clearance of dues, many big names are left stranded in the team hotel in Dhaka.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, the foreign players tried contacting the team management for their payment but got no response.

Mohammad Haris (Pakistan), Aftab Alam (Afghanistan), Mark Deyal (West Indies), Ryan Burl (Zimbabwe) and Miguel Cummins (West Indies) are all waiting for some portion of their payments.

"While the team owners promised that they would clear the payment, several local cricketers of Durbar Rajshahi camp checked out from the hotel room without getting their due payment," stated the report.

To make matters worse, Durbar Rajshahi got stuck in another mess as the franchise even failed to pay its bus driver, who has been driving the team across the country throughout the tournament.

To make the franchise realise its mistake, the bus driver took the matter into his own and locked the kit bags and stuff of all the players of Rajshahi inside the bus. He also stated that players will get their kit bags back only after the clearance of his dues.

"It's a matter of regret and shame. If they had paid us, we would have given back the kit bag to the players. Till now, I have not opened my mouth but now I am saying that we can leave if they clear our payment," Mohammad Babul, bus driver of Rajshahi, told reporters in front of the team hotel.

"The kit bags of local and foreign cricketers are there in the bus but I cannot give them as large portion of our remuneration is yet not paid," he added.

Talking about the team, Durbar Rajshahi had a forgettable outing in BPL 2025 as they failed to reach the Playoffs.

Feel for the bus driver, that he had to resort to such lengths. But this is a really funny news story

this is embarassing for whole bangladesh

Whole BPL should be banned by ICC

Brother @Devadwal
By commenting in threads related to Bangladesh, you are needlessly giving them free publicity.

Given our political situation with them and the way our Hindu brothers are being treated in that country, it is best that Bharatiya posters collectively boycott anything related to Bangladesh cricket until there is an official apology and a significant improvement is made in Bangladesh. Our voices matter. Let the Pakistanis and Bangladeshiz discuss Bangladesh cricket. Wish them the best.

I am okay with that. I am anti-T20.

I have never seen a single BPL match in my whole life.

BTW, not sure if ICC can ban BPL since it is a domestic tournament. Anyway, if it is banned, I don't mind.

And making related threads hot topics on PP in the process when they would have died a slow death otherwise.

You are single handedly driving the engagements up for Bangladesh related threads.

How can you be stranded in a hotel? The guy doesn’t have money to use public transport and go to the airport?
If he leaves without his money, he ain’t seeing a penny of it. Why do you think all protesters go out physically to protest? Because if they “protested from home”, they will be given Modiji’s kind of reply - “mitron, sabar karen, sab theek ho jayega”.

Local players have checked out of the team hotel, while the foreign stars were clueless after their phone calls to the management went unanswered.

Bangladesh cricket is a joke, lol. Clowns at the highest order.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

As per reports:

Mohammad Haris among other cricketers has been stranded in a hotel in Bangladesh due to a lack of payments by the owners.
I can't stop laughing while reading some posts on this thread:Dâ€Ļ lol. What’s the point of staying in a hotel if you're not getting paid? You’ll just end up paying more in hotel bills the longer you stay.

Sunk cost fallacy.

As per reports: Tom Moffat, the chief executive of the World Cricketers Association, cautioned the Bangladesh Cricket Board about the ongoing non-payment issues in the Bangladesh Premier League. He warned that if this trend persists, the tournament may struggle to attract the best players from around the world.

Barishal retain BPL title with record run chase against Chittagong

Tamim Iqbal and Kyle Mayers shone with the bat as defending champions Fortune Barishal executed a record run-chase to retain their BPL title, beating Chittagong Kings by three wickets in a thrilling finish to the Bangladesh Premier League final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.

Tamim smashed nine fours and a six for his 29-ball 54 and Mayers put away three four and as many sixes in a 28-ball 46 before Rishad Hossain (18 off six balls) helped to finish things off for Fortune Barishal who chased down 194-3 -- the highest total chased in a BPL final -- with three balls to spare. Three-time finalists and two-time winners, Fortune Barishal surpassed Comilla Victorians' record of chasing down 175 against the Sylhet Strikers in the final of BPL 9 in 2023.

The contest was nothing short of a thriller as both sides went toe-to-toe, especially with the bat. Barishal were motoring along at 76 for no loss after eight overs but Chittagong pacer Shorfiul Islam (4-34) removed Tamim and Dawid Malan (one) in the ninth over to get his side back into game. He managed to get another double in the 18th over when he dismissed Mayers and Mahmudullah (16) which saw Barishal require 20 runs in the last two overs.

Barishal's Rishad Hossain then smashed a six off Binura Fernando in the first delivery of the 19th over to bring the odds in his side's favour. Binura dismissed Mohammad Nabi (four) in the last ball of the same over but Barishal took 12 runs of that over and needed eight in the ultimate over.

Chittagong was penalized for their slow over-rate and were allowed only four fielders outside the 30 yards in the last over. Rishad his second maximum in the first ball from Hussain Talat to set the game for their side as they reached the target with three balls to spare.

Earlier in the first innings, Khawaja Nafay and Emon propelled the opening partnership with a lot of authority from early in the innings. In the process, the Chittagong opening duo produced the highest-ever opening stand in a BPL final with a 121-run stand, overtaking the 76-run stand by Tamim Iqbal and Mehedi Hasan Miraz in last year's BPL final.

The Powerplay saw Emon take control, hitting Kyle Mayers for boundaries to get the innings motoring along. He would hit left-arm spinner Tanvir for two big sixes in the fourth over to put real momentum to the innings. As the Powerplay finished at 57 for no loss, Nafay finally came to the party after a slow start.

With Emon completing a 30-ball fifty, Nafay hit Rishad for back-to-back sixes to complete his own fifty. After 12 overs, Chittagong were 115 for no loss and it looked like they would get over 200 in the all-important final.

Ebadot Hossain broke the partnership with the wicket of Nafay, out for a 44-ball 66, nicking a delivery to wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim. However, the acceleration in the death overs was slightly stifled by Barishal bowlers.

Emon and Graham Clark picked off Tanvir for a 22-run over but Mohammad Ali bowled the 17th and 20th overs, conceding just 10 runs. Despite Emon's unbeaten 49-ball 78 and Clark's 23-ball 44, Chittagong reached 194 for three with Ali being the pick of the Barishal bowlers with 21 for one in four overs.

Today Pervez Hossain played a Riz-Babar type of innings and lost the match. You really cant have openers score too many runs unless they have significant SR like 200+.

My ancestral home is in Barishal. Good to see them winning BPL back to back. Congratulations. :dav

They are burning because Bangladesh isnt being led by sellout Hasina anymore

Some of these Indian posters can be very cringy and obnoxious.

They claim they don't rate BPL and yet they continue to post on this thread. :uakmal

Nafay has not yet received the full payment from his BPL franchise, Chittagong Kings. To make matters worse, the return ticket provided to him turned out to be fake, leaving him stuck at Dhaka Airport with no way to return to Pakistan.

Khawaja Nafay stuck in Bangladesh after being given fake ticket

After Mohammad Haris, another Pakistani cricketer, Khawaja Muhammad Nafay, has found himself stranded in Bangladesh after playing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

According to sources, Nafay has not yet received the full payment from his BPL franchise, Chittagong Kings. To make matters worse, the return ticket provided to him turned out to be fake, leaving him stuck at Dhaka Airport with no way to return to Pakistan.

Reports suggest that the franchise is not providing him with any clear answers regarding his payment or travel arrangements.

'I have informed BCB, I will also inform the heads of both countries', Afridi is angry over not receiving remuneration in BPL

Shahid Afridi has approached the BCB after not receiving the full amount of his contract as a goodwill ambassador and mentor for Chittagong Kings in the BPL and despite repeated attempts, he has not received any response from the team's management. He has emailed BCB President Farooq Ahmed seeking help. If that doesn't work, the former Pakistan captain has said that he will write to the heads of the two countries if necessary.

The controversy over the remuneration has been a hot topic of discussion in this year's BPL, overshadowing many positive aspects. Even after a month of the tournament, the controversy has not ended. There are allegations that the salaries of cricketers from various teams are still pending. In the meantime, a star like Afridi has raised serious allegations.

Chittagong Kings brought Afridi as their 'mentor' after creating quite a stir. He was the biggest star in the tournament during the foreign star drought. However, there were rumors of tension over his remuneration during the tournament. At that time, Chittagong Kings said that the problem would be resolved.

However, Afridi claimed to bdnews24.com on Sunday that he was not getting any response from Chittagong Kings captain Samir Quader Chowdhury.

"The contract with me was for $100,000. It was said that I would be given $50,000 after I set foot in Bangladesh, and the remaining $50,000 during the tournament. But I was given a total of $19,000. They kept repeating, saying, 'I'll give it tomorrow,' 'I'll give it in two days.' I fulfilled all my responsibilities as per the contract. I was not given the money. I was shocked by Sameer's behavior. I didn't expect anything like this."

"I returned home in the middle of the tournament for some work. I had talked to Sameer that I would return to Bangladesh on January 19. But despite repeated communication, they did not send the ticket. Now, despite many attempts to contact Sameer, I am not getting any response. I wrote to BCB President Farooq Ahmed about this two-three days ago. If necessary, I will also write to our Prime Minister and the Chief Advisor of Bangladesh."

Afridi said that he did not disclose the matter until now, considering the image of Bangladesh and the BPL.

"Bangladesh holds a special place in my heart. I love the people of Bangladesh. I have always received a lot of respect and love when I went there. I did not want the image of BPL to be tarnished. The issue of remuneration can break the basic foundation of any league. It is not good for a country either. I did not say anything during the tournament thinking of Bangladesh and the BPL."

Afridi also showed bdnews24.com a copy of the letter he wrote to the BCB chief. He began the letter by expressing his love and affection for Bangladesh. He then went on to state his grievances.

"I would like to draw your attention to a matter related to my involvement in the 11th season of BPL. It was a great honour for me to be appointed as the brand ambassador and mentor of the Chittagong Kings franchise and I have entered into a formal agreement with them. As per the agreement, I am to be paid 50 percent (US$50,000) before the start of the tournament and the rest during the tournament."

"Despite fulfilling all my responsibilities... arriving in Dhaka before the first match, participating in team events, media activities and appearances at various places... they did not honor the terms of my remuneration. Out of the $50,000, only $19,000 was paid, which is a clear breach of contract. Despite that, I have trusted them and fulfilled my responsibilities."

Afridi sought the BCB president's help, detailing the incident of leaving for Pakistan midway through the tournament and not being able to return to Bangladesh.

"I requested a week's leave to return to Pakistan during the tournament. I was given permission to return on January 19 (to Bangladesh). The team management had assured me of a return ticket. But despite repeated assurances, the ticket was not sent and I was unable to join the team for the rest of the tournament. This is very disappointing, especially for a franchise associated with such a prestigious league."

“Mr. Ahmed, I request you to kindly intervene in the matter so that the Chittagong Kings management pays me my due remuneration. My past experience with Bangladesh cricket has always been good and I believe that under your guidance, this matter will also be resolved amicably. I consider Bangladesh as my second home and do not want any negative publicity to affect the BPL or the Bangladesh Cricket Board.”

When contacted, Chittagong Kings captain Samir Quader Chowdhury initially said, "He hasn't spoken to me for a few days. If there is any issue, he will speak to me..." He also dismissed the allegation of not responding to contact, saying, "This is not true... I spoke to him two weeks ago."

However, the Chittagong Kings owner admitted that the full salary was not paid. He does not see any need to rush to pay the salary.

"Around 21,000 has been given. He will get the rest too, it's not like he won't get it. He's no longer a cricketer, he will get his. There's no dispute about the amount. Everyone can be in a hurry."

"Since the problem was at the end... he didn't have any work, maybe that's why he wasn't brought in. Even then, we had a promise with him, we'll give it to him. It will definitely be resolved through talks."

Samir Quader Chowdhury claims that he has already informed the BCB president.

"I also told the President about this a month ago. I talked to him about many things yesterday. However, he did not say anything about the Afridi issue."
