France beat Croatia 4-2 to win 2018 World Cup final!

Come on Croatia!. We have a lot of Croatian neighbors, so lots of flags around. Will be watching the game with them so should be fun.

Hopefully France relying on their strong defence and fast counterattacking will bite them in the back
 
hope this penalty is not the difference maker today as it is controversial
 
Croatia have shown the most guts in this tournament. Just need to do it one more time

The ref had to look at it like 500 times before he gave it :facepalm: it shouldn't take long if it were conclusive and that should have given it away but these ref's just conform the moment the VAR idiots call them
 
Even though I am supporting Croatia I would say that the penalty was fair. Too much doubt and the benefit of the doubt should go to France there. At the end of the day it was a hand ball. Simple

Someone could be blind, just because the ball hits their hand it does not mean that a penalty is justified. The law does not explicitly state that a penalty can be given in such an instance because it has to be intentional. The ref had initially not given it and then had to look at it again and again before confirming to VAR, it was a no brainer ! no penalty !
 
Hate it when controversial decisions decide the result of any game, first Brazil and now Croatia getting wrong calls against them. In a fair world Croatia should be leading.
 
What a start by Croatia in the second half, excellent free flowing football. All over France like a rash. Croatia really seems to want this cup.

What a goal for Pogba. What a tournament he has had. An embarrassment that mourinho couldn't get the best out of him whilst Deschsmps has.

Croatian goalie has given up 2 soft goals; his posture is not right to be a good goalie

More often than not the Northern European nations get it in their favor ....

Griezman dived for the first goal's free kick

And penalty was dubious
 
Well done to France. A deserved win. The best all round team at the tournament . Could be the start of a golden generation . Plenty more to come from this French team. Need to move on from Giroud and Matudi now.

Need to back Coman,Tolisso,Demble,and Martial now.
 
I think France would have won regardless, but the VAR decision basically decided the result, and it was a poor one. Anyway congratulations to the French they were worthy winners overall.

Having more possession doesn't necessarily make you the better side, Even when Croatia had a very strong start I always felt France were in control. They are a very difficult team to attack because they can absolutely tear you apart on the counter.

France were the better team, had better defense and offense.
 
Croatia are tough lads but France are too good. Great final and the best world cup in long time.
 
Croatia were unlucky through out the match. It was never a free kick that lead to the first goal, replays clearly showed Grieizmann was not even touched by the tackle. The penalty against Croatia was a bit harsh as well even if at the time I thought it was that. The decision could easily have gone in favour of Croatia. Would have been fascinating to see how things would have progressed had these decisions gone in Croatia's favour. We'll do it again in Qatar, insha Allah.

France are deserving champions because they don't just rely on set pieces (corner, penalty, free-kick etc) unlike England and some other teams. They also created chances from open play. Croatia appeared to be under pressure throughout and I suppose own goal and then that penalty (hard to say even after watching the replay so many times if it was deliberate handball) really set them back plus their goal-keeper made a number of mistakes. When France beat Argentina 4-3 in another thrilling round of 16 game, they showcased their impressive scoring prowess which was evident again today in the final. France thus deserve to be world champions.
 
France won almost all games by scoring goals through counter attacks. That’s not football. That’s athletics :livid: . And they have certain advantage in that. Fluke win. Reminds me of Italy’s World Cup victory against France. Croatian players showed much much superior skills on the field. They were just unlucky :((
 
All the strong contenders kept getting knocked out one by one, but it's after one of the favourites that has gone on to win the tournament - as France obviously were from day one. Clearly the best and the most efficient team of the tournament. In my opinion, based on what I`d seen in the tournament, besides the talent, the spirit, the tactics etc., what amazingly paid off for France were the successful attempts/shots from outside the penalty area. You know, those shots that come out of nowhere to land in the net to stun the opposition. It happened yesterday, it happened also against Argentina - both were very identical matches in many ways I thought.

Croatia can still be proud of their efforts. They played really well, fought and competed really hard, but not be.... You could argue that things didn't favour them, luck didn't favour them. One of the goals was on a penalty and the other an own goal. Still, of all the six goals that were scored yesterday, Perisic`s goal will go down as the lasting memory for me from the final. What a brilliant goal! Croatia`s defence let them down, and it being torn apart in one of the games was a constant fear that I had. Their attack never was and never will be a problem - a scoreline of 2-4 Clearly suggests so.

Congratulations France!

I was hoping for a Croatia win but congratulations to France, they took their chances well.

Poor Croatia were robbed for the first two goals which turned the game.
