Also state your reasons for the answer which is given.

Personally, am not fond of any Indian cricket player on any level. I've thought long and hard but can't seem to think of any which are a favourite.

However am a big fan of Mary Kom, the greatest female amateur boxer in history. She is a five time world champion and Olympic medalist, had female boxing been eligible for Olympic sport during her prime she'd have won 2 Gold medals.

She came from a very humble background and was very poor, a female fighting was very taboo understandably but she never let that hold her back or the lack of support and corruption amongst the sports governing board. She also fought on despite having many unique challenges as a mother in the subcontinent, I have immense respect for her.

Yeah mary Kom does stand out. Quite a fierce fighter and faced great adversity.
Not a fan of any Pakistani cricketer myself but Saeed Anwar comes to my mind as someone I enjoyed watching. So I'll have to do a bit more research in other sports to educate myself a tad bit

Outstanding talent, exceptional; am really annoyed about her age because if she was 4-6 years younger at present it would have been nice to see her in the pro's because the scene is booming now. Ronda Rousey has taken combat sport to the main stream so promoters have been a bit more open to invest in female boxing, in the UK we have the likes of Nicola Adams and Katie Taylor, US Claressa Shields; would have been great to see Kom in the mix with these Olympians plus she'd have the opportunity to make the big bucks as well.

Tiger Pataudi
Sunil Gavaskar
Kapil Dev
Mohammad Azharuddin
Sachin Tendulkar
Anil Kumble
Javagal Srinath
Rahul Dravid
Zaheer Khan
MS Dhoni
Virat Kohli

Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib, Afridi are the people whose videos I still watch on YouTube time to time..

Jinder Mahal.

42VNk.gif

Hanif Mohammed,Saeed Anwar & Inzamam - world class batsmen of their times & great personalities too

Wasim Akram - absolutely the best and inspired a generation of bowlers on both side of the border to emulate him. Absolute class act.

Others I like - Waqar, Younis, Misbah, Afridi and many more.

Yasir shah, his energy and demeanour on the field is unmatched.

Maybe am a closet Sachin fan, I went out of my way to watch his final innings and listen to his retirement speech

Dhoni by a countrymile and then some.

MSD has got the heart of a champion. I always really liked him, but I became a fan when Pakistan had India at 29/5 and this guy walks in and effortlessly strokes a run a ball century.

Your best cricketers/batsmen are those that stand up when the chips are down and the back is against the wall. Even Muhammad Hafeez types can score runs on a sunny afternoon with zero pressure and pop gun bowling attack.

Dhoni, Hussey are the type of cricketers who have that never say die attitude about them that I absolutely adore.

Afridi :afridi

non cricketer: Quraishi (?) the guy who used to partner with Boppanna back then.

I'd say there are more fans of Afridi in India then any other cricket player from Pakistan

Wasm Wasim Wasim. !!!!!!

Followed by Shoaib Akhtar, Inzy and Waqar.

overall it would have to be Rahul Dravid, guy was class in every way, what we think Younis khan is

For different reasons - Kohli, Dravid, Ganguly and Tendulkar

Kohli and Ganguly as gun ODI batsmen (Looks like Kohli will be even more gun than Gangu, but at his peak in the late 90's Gangu was also a pleasure to watch and very consistent)

Tendulkar for pure genius (All forms of the game, the most technically correct, orthodox batsman I have seen. I was not around for Gavaskar and others from that period.)

Dravid for bloody-minded determination (I remember when Gangu and Dravid made their debuts. Dravid has to be the player who improved the most through his career. He started off as a blocker with a few shots, like a dab onto the on-side for a single or a flick... as he developed, his strokeplay expanded and he started driving much more liberally and even playing hooks and cuts.)

Dravid, Tendulkar and Gangu were also superior players of spin to the modern crop (including Kohli) in my opinion. Especially Tendulkar, who was unbelievably good against spin.

Also special mention to Sehwag, who never gets enough credit, but was a phenomenally talented instinctual player. Probably had better hand-eye coordination in his prime than the rest. No feet movement, but such a great eye and his strike-rate was well ahead of his time.

I'm not Pakistani, but I love Ajinka Rahane. I think he's a wonderful batsman who plays the game in the right spirit.

My favourite past Indian player is Mohinder Amarnath.

My Dad was born in British India, so I'm happy to say that my favourite current Pakistan players are Babar Azam and Mohammad Amir.

My favourite Pakistan player of the recent past is Younis Khan. But I consider him to have become a past player in 2012-13.

No worries Junaids, you are an honorary Pakistani for us :))

Where do you rank Younis Khan amongst other all time greats such as Sachin Tendulkar and Javed Miandad?

Obviously its going to be Md Amir. Off late he has disappointed, but I look forward to him performing again.

For me.. its a tie between dhoni and dravid.

Dhoni the captain.. dravid the player .. just gr8

Exactly.. for me that inning turn the tides in india favor..

Sehwag averaged 90 against Pakistan but never gets any love.

These 3 in the following order

Rahul Dravid
Pujara
Dhoni

Kohli off the field for building bridges between India and Pakistan. Top guy.

Pujara
Kohli
KL Rahul

Honestly cant think of a single non-cricket sportsman who I really like....

Non-cricketers:

Dhyan Chand - the Lionel Messi of hockey, the greatest of all time
Milkha Singh
Mary Kom
Viswanathan Anand

Cricketers:

M. A. K. Pataudi
Gavaskar
Kapil
Amarnath
Azharuddin
Dravid
Ganguly
Sehwag
Dhoni
Kohli
Ashwin
Jadeja
Gambhir (big admirer of his cricket)
Rahane
Pujara
KL Rahul
Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Umesh Yadav
Rishabh Pant

Obviously Tendulkar is a noticeable omission, but as much as I admire his stature and believe that no batsman has a stronger claim of being the greatest of all time, I was never a huge fan of his cricket.

Rahul Dravid - my favorite batsman ever. While Sachin was better I enjoyed watching Dravid more. He looked like a million bucks when he'd stretch his front foot out and drive through the off side. He was also great against spinners. I always wanted to know what his bat was like since I think he played with a very light bat..but I could be wrong.

Dhoni - was a clean keeper and an okay batsman when he debuted...but he was one Indian who somehow had the heart to take the game head on. He is also the only captain India has had that took an okay-ish side and turned them in to world beaters.

Teenda, Dravid, Pataudi Nawab, Yuvraj Singh, Azharuddin, Anil Kumble and Bishan Bedi.

Gavaskar, Imran Khan.

Kapil, Srinnath, Azharuddin, Hirwani, Dravid.

Miandad, Wasim, Waqar, Abdul Kadir.
+++
Current generation: B Kumar, Yasir.

Balaji , because the time he smashed Shoaib back over his head for six will never stop being funny.

Non cricket walay;

Jahangir n Jansher Khan
Shahbaz Ahmed Senior and Sohail Abbas

Cricketers :

Wasim, Imran, Javed, Shoaib Akhthar, Salim Malik, Aqib Javed, Abdul Qadir, Misbah, Inzamam, Razzak,
