From the opposing side of the border, who is your favourite Pakistani/Indian sportsman or cricketer?

Personally, am not fond of any Indian cricket player on any level. I've thought long and hard but can't seem to think of any which are a favourite.

However am a big fan of Mary Kom, the greatest female amateur boxer in history. She is a five time world champion and Olympic medalist, had female boxing been eligible for Olympic sport during her prime she'd have won 2 Gold medals.

She came from a very humble background and was very poor, a female fighting was very taboo understandably but she never let that hold her back or the lack of support and corruption amongst the sports governing board. She also fought on despite having many unique challenges as a mother in the subcontinent, I have immense respect for her.

Outstanding talent, exceptional; am really annoyed about her age because if she was 4-6 years younger at present it would have been nice to see her in the pro's because the scene is booming now. Ronda Rousey has taken combat sport to the main stream so promoters have been a bit more open to invest in female boxing, in the UK we have the likes of Nicola Adams and Katie Taylor, US Claressa Shields; would have been great to see Kom in the mix with these Olympians plus she'd have the opportunity to make the big bucks as well.

MSD has got the heart of a champion. I always really liked him, but I became a fan when Pakistan had India at 29/5 and this guy walks in and effortlessly strokes a run a ball century.

Your best cricketers/batsmen are those that stand up when the chips are down and the back is against the wall. Even Muhammad Hafeez types can score runs on a sunny afternoon with zero pressure and pop gun bowling attack.

Dhoni, Hussey are the type of cricketers who have that never say die attitude about them that I absolutely adore.

For different reasons - Kohli, Dravid, Ganguly and Tendulkar

Kohli and Ganguly as gun ODI batsmen (Looks like Kohli will be even more gun than Gangu, but at his peak in the late 90's Gangu was also a pleasure to watch and very consistent)

Tendulkar for pure genius (All forms of the game, the most technically correct, orthodox batsman I have seen. I was not around for Gavaskar and others from that period.)

Dravid for bloody-minded determination (I remember when Gangu and Dravid made their debuts. Dravid has to be the player who improved the most through his career. He started off as a blocker with a few shots, like a dab onto the on-side for a single or a flick... as he developed, his strokeplay expanded and he started driving much more liberally and even playing hooks and cuts.)

Dravid, Tendulkar and Gangu were also superior players of spin to the modern crop (including Kohli) in my opinion. Especially Tendulkar, who was unbelievably good against spin.

Also special mention to Sehwag, who never gets enough credit, but was a phenomenally talented instinctual player. Probably had better hand-eye coordination in his prime than the rest. No feet movement, but such a great eye and his strike-rate was well ahead of his time.

Rahul Dravid - my favorite batsman ever. While Sachin was better I enjoyed watching Dravid more. He looked like a million bucks when he'd stretch his front foot out and drive through the off side. He was also great against spinners. I always wanted to know what his bat was like since I think he played with a very light bat..but I could be wrong.

Dhoni - was a clean keeper and an okay batsman when he debuted...but he was one Indian who somehow had the heart to take the game head on. He is also the only captain India has had that took an okay-ish side and turned them in to world beaters.
