Future of fast-bowling?

I didn’t state my own opinion but rather express what a possible opinion some would argue might be. If it is even up to discussion that Shaheen is ahead of Archer, then it’s a fallacy to say Archer is in the top 4 bowlers in the world right now.

And mind you, England should have lost that world cup, going by the rules. In which case Jofra would have remained a “good breakout bowler of the world cup”. If his entire reputation depends on an umpiring mistake, then the debate opens up even more. I think a fairer comparison is to separate the tiers as follows (age 28 and below).

Tier 1: Pat Cummins, Jasprit Bumrah, Kagiso Rabada

Tier 2: Shaheen Shah Afridi, Jofra Archer

The rest are unknown quantities. I personally like Naseem, Jhye Richardson, and Lahiru Kumara.

I agree with the Tiers

No bowler in history has been successful in every single series. The New Zealand series was a complete anomaly because he was burned out. England ran him into the ground by playing him constantly across formats,

Yes they may not be successful in every series but they shouldn't be averaging 104 either. That's not unsuccessful, that's garbage, those are figures a club bowler gets.

How was he burned out? He didn't play across formats, he hasn't played a T20 since his debut against us last May, his last ODI game was the final of the World Cup. The 5th Ashes test ended on September 16th, the NZ series started on November 21st. Is 2 months of rest not enough?

Haha I’ve asked this point at least 5 times on this thread already. Jofra played 4 ashes tests in a row. After this he had more than 2 months of rest before the first match, he didn’t even play the warm up games on the tour.

Yet his ‘fans’ keep using that for an excuse for his frankly rubbish performance.

The OPs reply is - ‘you don’t know the wear and tear of a fast bowlers body’ ..
