Gambhir is a bit of a freak. He was a fine cricketer at his peak, but he always had attitude problems. Afridi's description of him is apt.

Gambhir, as good as he was, has nowhere near the fame level or status (whether deserved or not) of Afridi.

"My records are in open. Becoming ICC Test player of the year, winning Test series and World Cup. People will decide what I have done for the country. Some people are really mentally ill and so need psychiatrist treatment."

Earlier this week, Afridi's autobiography Game Changer had released in India and Pakistan. In the book, he talks about Gambhir being a person who "behaves like a cross between Don Bradman and James Bond," and has a "lot of attitude and no great records".

Well, Gambhir responded to the former cricketer on Twitter saying: "...you are a hilarious man!!! Anyway, we are still granting visas to Pakistanis for medical tourism. I will personally take you to a psychiatrist."

Afridi hit back on Gambhir's 'psychiatrist' jibe on Saturday as he said, "He (Gambhir) has a mental problem and if he wants I can get him treated at my hospital," in his book launch in Karachi. "If he faces any visa problem I will get it processed quickly for him."

Afridi and Gambhir never enjoyed a good cricketing relationship, neither on nor off the field. They were booked for breaching ICC code of conduct during India versus Pakistan clash in Kanpur in 2007. where Afridi was fined 95 per cent of his match fees, while Gambhir was fined 65 per cent.

Recalling the incident, Afridi wrote in his book: "I remember the run-in with Gambhir during the 2007 Asia Cup, when he completed his single while running straight into me. The umpires had to finish it off or I would have. Clearly, we had a frank bilateral discussion about each other’s female relative."

It was a national embarrassment which has been recorded on video. What were Indian bowlers thinking whilst feeding 6-7 spinners to Afridi?

I wouldn’t even rate this as an epic knock against a solid side, the way Tendulkar pumped the Pakistanis in the 2003 wc or when Kohli scored that 180 odd in the Asia cup. Those were sublime innings against a respectable, top class bowling attack.

What Afridi did to India that day was just an atrocity. What an embarrassing day for a country who believes they have a bigger legacy than the West Indies and Australia when it comes to cricket

Good point. I don't think Gambhir should engage with someone of Shahid's intellect. As Sachin once said about Afridi 'Never get into a battle of wits with an unarmed man.

Pakistan had been winning in NZ for many years so Gambhir's achievement is squat in that sense, NZ were not a great side at home at that time in 2010-11. Gambhir is the one who got dropped and never got a look in. Gambhir to me is over rated, being the no 1 test batsman for one year means nothing when your performances arent consistent, he got found out in the test series to England in 2011, Australia in 2012 and England again in 2014. You say Gambhir won India the T-20 WC in 2007 and ODI WC in 2011, Afridi won Pakistan the 2009 T-20 WC.

I agree Afridi shouldn't have said Gambhir has no major achievements as that is not true but Gambhir career and achievements are not world's apart from Afridi's.
