I'm a Momentum member but find Lansman's accusations and behaviour completely beyond the pale.

I'm relatively active within both my Labour CLP and Momentum group and I'm seriously re-considering membership. I will certainly be contributing to the crowdfund.

Lansman needs taking down a peg or three. Has rode the coat-tails of Corbyn to power but seems to spend most of his time fighting the left or furthering Right narratives about the Left

Is George Galloway still a thing?

Edit: the background to this...

He's done some great things in the past.

Blotted his copybook with some recent activities.

However this is a clear case of the Establishment trying to smear and denigrate anyone who dares to lift their voices in support of the Palestinians. I support Galloway's right to Free Speech and so I will be contributing to the crowdfund.

Its not like anyone that criticizes Palestinian methods and ideology will be labelled Zionist and racist now is it. Pot calling kettle black.

So why did Galloway call Baddiel a ‘vile Israel-fanatic comedian’? There’s no evidence for this position at all (later on Galloway even retracted the comments). Lansman therefore has a point - there’s no reason to call Baddiel a “vile Israel-fanatic” other than the fact Baddiel is a Jew.

He is though. The easily offended Tottenhamite Chelsea fan.

Why does Galloway need this to be crowdfunded? Surely he must have a fair bit of money in the bank from his many years as an MP and from all of his media work and screen appearances - unless he has managed his finances badly or something?

Momentum strikes me as a group that began with noble intentions but will eventually attract fringe revolutionaries who fancy themselves as the next Marxist-Leninist vanguard party.

Im not sure what Baddiels views on Israel are but to this day nobody can explain how criticsing Israel or calling someone Israel fanatic (in this case) isi antisemitism? Perhaps you can?

Galloway was wrong to describe Baddiel as he did. Baddiel is an irrelevant and unfunny 'comedian'.

However defamation etc is partly about how much damage you do to someone's character reputation or standing with your lies about them.

Galloway by swiftly deleting his tweet and acknowledging error did not compound his defamatory comment and so any damages would be negligible

Lansman has not withdraw or apologised for his comments and if he wishes to stand by them will need to prove they are true in Court. By dint of his position as head of Momentum and being on Labour NEC Galloway can claim he has a lot of influence to defame Galloway amongst 'The Left' and thus the damages should be commensurately larger.

Baddiel has tweeted that, as he is ‘meh’ about Israel, when GG called him “vile Israel-fanatic” GG was dog whistling, and Baddiel invited GG to sue him.

Can’t post the tweet here as it is sweary.
